tions (XA) in case of an Ex instruments!

1.1 How to use
The parts of this service kit are only to be
used as spare parts for instruments of the
CM42 instrument family. Any other use is
not permitted.
1.2 Handling of electronic modules
Electronic modules are sensitive against
electrostatic discharge (ESD). Discharge your-
self, e. g. on a protective conductor, before you
take a module from it's ESD protective packing.
Permanent earth connection, e.g. with ESD
wristlet is recommended.
1.3 Electric safety
CM42 operates with safety extra-low voltage
[SELV] and switching contacts are not present.
Therefore a danger of electrical hazard is not
present.
1.4 Information on explosion protection (I)
Work on instruments with Ex approval
Service at instruments with Ex approval
requires appropriate qualification.
Legal regulations and operational rules must
be kept where appropriate.

bei Ex-Geräten!

1.1 Verwendung
Die Servicekits sind ausschließlich als Ersatz-
teile für Messgeräte der Gerätefamilie CM42
zu verwenden. Jede anderweitige Verwendung
ist unzulässig.
1.2 Handhabung elektronischer Baugruppen
Elektronische Baugruppen sind empfindlich
gegen elektrostatische Entladungen (ESD).
Entladen Sie sich z. B. an einem Schutzleiter
vor Entnahme einer Baugruppe aus der anti-
statischen Verpackung. Vorteilhaft ist eine
ständige Erdung, z. B. mit ESD-Armband.
1.3 Elektrische Sicherheit
Das CM42 arbeitet ausschließlich mit Schutz-
Kleinspannung, es sind auch keine Schaltkon-
takte eingebaut. Eine elektrische Gefährdung
ist deshalb nicht vorhanden.
1.4 Hinweise zum Explosionschutz (I)
Arbeit an Geräten mit Ex-Zulassung
Service an Ex-zugelassenen Geräten erfordern
eine entsprechende Qualifikation.
Gesetzliche sowie ggf. spezifische betriebliche
Vorschriften sind einzuhalten.

1.5 Hinweise zum Explosionschutz (II)
Ersatzteile für Geräte mit Ex-Zulassung
In ein CM42 mit Ex-Zulassung dürfen aus-
schließlich Module mit passender Zulassung
eingebaut werden. Die Zulassung geht verloren,
wenn ein Ex-Modul (und sei es nur zu Test-
zwecken) in einem nicht-Ex-Gerät betrieben
wird.
Deshalb sind CM42-Module mit Ex-Zulassung
ab Werk mit einer Sicherheitsbanderole verse-
hen. Nur eine unversehrte Banderole garan-
tiert die Zulassung!
Entfernen Sie die Banderole erst unmittelbar
bevor Sie das Modul einbauen.
1.6 Rückwirkungen auf den Prozess
Sprechen Sie die Servicearbeiten zuvor mit
dem Anlagenbetreiber ab!
Bevor ein aktives Gerät außer Betrieb gesetzt
wird, sind die Rückwirkungen auf den Prozess
zu berücksichtigen! Prüfen Sie, ob der analoge
Signalausgang oder Kommunikationsschnitt-
stellen (HART o. Profibus PA) des CM42 zur
Regelung von Prozessgrößen verwendet werden.
1.7 Ausbau von Sensoren aus dem Prozess
Falls im Laufe des Geräteservices ein Sensor
aus dem Prozess ausgebaut werden muss (z. B.
für Kalibrierung, Sensortausch, Reinigung,
Test), achten Sie bitte zu Ihren eigenen Sicher-
heit auf Prozessdruck, Prozesstemperatur so-
wie Aggressivität oder Toxizität des Mediums.
1.5 Information on explosion protection (II)
Spare part for Ex-approved instruments
Only modules with according Ex approval may
be used in an Ex approved CM42.
The approval of an Ex module is lost if this
module is operated in a non-Ex CM42 (even if
it was only once for test)!
Therefore CM42 spare modules with Ex
approval have a safety banderole ex factory.
The approval of an Ex spare module is only
guaranteed with an undamaged banderole!
Remove the banderole immediately prior to
module installation.
1.6 Feedback on the process
Consult the operator before starting with the
service works!
Consider the feedback to your process before
switching off an active instrument!
Check whether process variables are controlled
by the CM42 instrument via the analog signal
outputs or via HART or Profibus PA communi-
cation interface.
1.7 Removal of sensors out of the process
If a sensor has to be removed from the process
in case of CM42 service (e.g. for calibration,
exchange, cleaning, test), for your own safety
pay attention to process pressure, process
temperature as well as to aggressiveness or
toxicity of the media.

dieser Anleitung nicht detailiert aufgeführt.

4. Öffnen des CM42
4.1 Öffnen des Kunststoffgehäuses
• Lösen Sie die 4 Deckelschrauben (siehe
Bild 5). Die Schrauben sind unverlierbar.
• Klappen Sie den Deckel auf.
4.2 Öffnen des Edelstahlgehäuses
• Lösen Sie die 4 Deckelschrauben (siehe
Bild 5). Die Schrauben sind unverlierbar.
• Ziehen Sie den Deckel zuerst etwas nach
vorne, um ihn von der Dichtung zu lösen.
• Klappen Sie den Deckel anschließend auf.
4. Opening of CM42
4.1 Opening of plastic enclosure
• Release the 4 screws of the lid (see
figure 5). The screws cannot be lost.
• Swing open the lid.
4.2 Opening of stainless steel enclosure
• Release the 4 screws of the lid (see
figure 5). The screws cannot be lost.
• First pull the lid a bit forward to loosen
it from the gasket.
• Afterwards swing open the lid.

5. Austausch von Eingangsmodulen
• Öffnen Sie den Deckel (siehe Kapitel 4).
• Die schwarzen Klemmleisten auf den Modu-
len sind abziehbar. Solange identische Mo-
dule getauscht werden, brauchen Sie keine
Leitungen abzuklemmen.
• Unterbrechen Sie die Geräteversorgung,
z. B. indem Sie am CPU-Modul die Klemm-
leiste mit Klemmen 133+134 bzw. mit
Klemmen 997+998 abziehen).
• Entfernen Sie das Eingangsmodul:
- Ziehen Sie die Klemmleiste des Eingangs-
moduls (schmales Modul rechts) ab.
- Ziehen Sie die beiden schwarzen Laschen
nach oben um das Modul zu entriegeln.
- Ziehen Sie das Modul an den Laschen heraus.
• Bauen Sie das neue Eingangsmodul ein:
- Führen Sie das neues Modul in die Nuten
des linken Moduls ein und schieben Sie
es dann bis zum Anschlag ein.
- Drücken Sie beide Laschen nach unten.
Dadurch wird das Modul in der Hutschiene
rüttelsicher fixiert.
- Stecken Sie dann die Klemmleiste des
Eingangsmoduls wieder auf.
• Stellen Sie die Geräteversorgung wieder
her (z. B. Klemmleisten 133+134 bzw.
997+998 wieder aufstecken).
• Prüfen Sie die Funktion des Gerätes.
• Nach Tausch eines digitalen Eingangsmoduls
(FSDG1) ist keine Kalibrierung notwendig.
• Nach Tausch eines analogen Eingangsmoduls
(FSPH1, FSLI1, FSLC1) ist eine erneute
Sensorkalibrierung erforderlich.
5. Exchange of input modules
• Open the lid (see chapter 4).
• The black terminal strips of the modules are
removeable. Therefore no need to disconnect
any cable as long as identical modules are
changed.
• Interrupt the supply of the instrument, e.g.
by unplugging the terminal strip with the
numbers 133+ 134 respectively 997+998
from the CPU module.
• Remove the input module:
- Disconnect the terminal strip from the
input module (small module to the right).
- Pull both black straps upwards. This re-
leases the module from the mounting rail.
- Use the straps and pull out the module.
• Insert the new input module:
- Insert the module into the notches of
the left module. Then push the module
down as far as it will go.
- At last push down both straps. Now the
module is vibration-proof locked at the
mounting rail.
- Plug now the terminal strip onto the
input module.
• Then restore the power supply (e.g. recon-
nect the terminal strip with the numbers
133+ 134 or 997+998 to the CPU module).
• Check the instrument for proper function.
• After replacement of a digital input module
(FSDG1) a calibration is not necessary.
• After replacement of an analog input
module (FSPH1, FSLI1, FSLC1) a new sensor
calibration is required.

6. Austausch des CPU-Moduls
• Öffnen Sie den Deckel (siehe Kapitel 4).
• Die schwarzen Klemmleisten auf den Mo-
dulen sind abziehbar. Solange identische
Module getauscht werden, brauchen Sie
keine Leitungen abzuklemmen.
• Unterbrechen Sie die Geräteversorgung,
indem Sie die Klemmleiste (C) des CPU-
Moduls (B) abziehen (siehe Bild 7).
6. Exchange of the CPU module
• Open the lid (see chapter 4).

Input module
• Entfernen Sie zuerst das Eingangsmodul (E):
- Ziehen Sie die Klemmleiste des Moduls ab.
- Ziehen Sie die schwarzen Laschen (D)
des Eingangsmoduls nach oben, um das
Modul zu entriegeln.
- Ziehen Sie dann das Eingangsmodul an
den beiden Laschen ganz heraus.
• Entfernen Sie nun das CPU-Modul (B):
- Entfernen sie am Module vorsichtig das
Flachbandkabel (A) zum Display.
- Ziehen Sie die beiden schwarzen Laschen
nach oben, um das Modul zu entriegeln.
- Ziehen Sie dann das CPU-Modul an den
Laschen ganz heraus.
• Bauen Sie das neue CPU-Modul (B) ein:
- Führen Sie das neue CPU-Modul in die
Nuten an der linken Gehäusewand ein
und schieben Sie es dann bis zum An-
schlag ein. Eine Codierung in der Hut-
schiene verhindert eine falsche Position.
• First remove the input module (E):
- Unplug the terminal strip of the module.
- Pull both black straps upwards. This
releases the module fixation.
- Use the straps as handles and pull the
input module completely out.
• Now remove the CPU module (B):
- Unplug extremely cautious the flat ribbon
cable (A) from the CPU module.
- Pull both black straps upwards. This
releases the module fixation.
- Use the straps as handles and pull the
CPU module completely out.
• Insert the new CPU module (B):
- Insert the CPU module into the notches
in the left side walll of the enclosure.
Then push the module down as far as it
will go. A coding at the mounting rail
avoids a wrong module positioning.

- Push down both straps. Now the module
is vibration-proof locked at the mounting
rail.
• Re-assemble the input module (E):
- Insert the input module (E) into the
notches of the CPU module (B). Then
push the module down as far as it will go.
- Push down the straps to lock the module.
- Now reconnect the terminal strip of the
input module.
• Next reconnect extremely cautious and
without any force the flat ribbon cable with
the CPU module.
• At last reconnect the terminal strip (C) of
the CPU module. This powers and restarts
the instrument.
• Check the instrument for proper function.
• Use your DAT module to restore the
configuration of the instrument.
Otherwise the configuration must manually
be restored.
All spare CPU modules are equipped with S/W.
Therefore changes in the instrument's function-
ality are possible. In this case order an up-to-
date operating instruction via

Up-to-date drivers for HART, Profibus and FF
are available at the E+H-Homepage
(www.endress.com, see also rear side).

kabels wieder am CPU-Modul ein.
• Stellen Sie zuletzt die Geräteversorgung
wieder her, indem Sie Klemmleiste (C) des
CPU-Moduls wieder aufstecken.
• Prüfen Sie die Funktion des Gerätes.
• Benutzen Sie Ihr DAT-Modul, um die
Gerätekonfiguration wiederherzustellen.
Andernfalls muss das Gerät von Hand neu
konfiguriert werden.
CPU-Module werden mit Software ausgeliefert.
Dadurch können sich funktionelle Änderungen
ergeben. Bestellen Sie ggf. eine neue Betriebs-
anleitung unter

Aktuelle Treiber für HART, Profibus und FF
können von der E+H-Homepage bezogen werden

7. Austausch des Deckels
mit Displaymodul
Der Knopf des Navigators darf keinesfalls
abgezogen werden! Als Ersatzteil erhalten Sie
deshalb immer einen kompletten Deckel mit
Display und Navigator.
• Öffnen Sie den Deckel (siehe Kapitel 4).
• Unterbrechen Sie die Geräteversorgung
(z. B., indem Sie am CPU-Modul die Klemm-
leiste mit Klemmen 133+134 bzw. mit
Klemmen 997+998 abziehen).
7. Exchange of the lid
with display module
It's not allowed to pull off the navigator knob!
Therefore the spare part kit always contains
the complete lid with hinge, display and
navigator.
• Open the lid (see chapter 4).
• Interrupt the supply of the instrument (e.g.
by unplugging the terminal strip with the
numbers 133+134 respectively 997+998
from the CPU module).

• Entfernen Sie am CPU-Module vorsichtig
das Flachbandkabel zum Display.
• Lösen Sie das Scharnier auf der Gehäuse-
seite.
• Montieren Sie den neuen Deckel mittels
seines Scharniers an das Gehäuseunterteil.
• Stecken Sie vorsichtig und ohne jeglichen
Kraftaufwand den Verbinder des Flachband-
kabels wieder am CPU-Modul ein.
• Stellen Sie die Geräteversorgung wieder her
(z. B. am CPU-Modul die Klemmleiste 133+
134 bzw. 997+998 wieder aufstecken).
• Prüfen Sie die Funktion des Gerätes.
• Dem Ersatzteilkit liegt ein Bogen mit allen
erforderlichen Aufklebern bei.
Bringen Sie die entsprechenden Aufkleber
im neuen Deckel an.
Übertragen Sie alle Daten von dem alten
inneren Typenschild auf das neue Blanko-
Typenschild.
• Unplug extremely cautious the flat ribbon
cable from the CPU module.
• Disassemble the hinge from the enclosure
lower part.
• Re-assemble the new lid with it's hinge to
the lower part of the enclosure.
• Reconnect extremely cautious and without
any force the flat ribbon cable with the CPU
module.
• Then restore the supply of the instrument
(e. g. reconnect the terminal strip with the
numbers 133+134 respectively 997+998 to
the CPU module).
• Check the instrument for proper function.
• The spare part kit contains a coupon sheet
with all required stickers.
Apply all relevant stickers to the new lid.
Transfer all data from the old inner name
plate to the blank new one.

8. Austausch von Verschraubungen
Die Kabelverschraubungen von Ex-zuge-
lassenen Geräten dürfen weder vor Ort noch
in einem E+H-SC-Servicecenter getauscht
werden! Diese Instandsetzung muss im Werk
erfolgen.
8.1 Verwendung der Verschraubungskits

8.6 Einbau der Kabelverschraubungen
• Beachten Sie die Hinweise in Kapitel 1!
• Trennen Sie das Messumformer-Speisegerät
(MUS) von seiner Versorgungsspannung.
• Öffnen Sie das CM42 (siehe Kapitel 4).
• Notieren Sie die Anschlüsse der Kabel an
den Modulen. Weitere Hinweise finden Sie
auf den Anschlussschildern im Gerät.
• Öffnen Sie die Klemmen für die Kabelschir-
me auf der Erdschiene (siehe Bild 13).
8.6 Installation of the cable glands
• Note the advices at chapter 1!
• Separate the transmitter power supply unit
(PSU) from its power source.
• Open the CM42 (see chapter 4).
• Note the cable connections at the modules.
Additional information can be found on the
connection stickers inside the instrument.
• Open the clamps for cable shield grounding
at the ground bar (see figure 13).
• Entfernen Sie alle Leitungen von den
Modul-Klemmleisten.
• Öffnen Sie die Zugentlastungen der Kabel-
verschraubungen (äußere Überwurfmut-
tern) und ziehen Sie alle Kabel vorsichtig
aus dem Gerät heraus.
• Lösen Sie die Gegenmuttern der Kabelver-
schraubungen und Verschlussschrauben.
Entfernen Sie die alten Verschraubungen
und Verschlussschrauben samt Zubehör.
Eine evtl. vorhandene Stützplatte wird nicht
mehr verwendet.
• Montieren Sie die neuen Kabelverschrau-
bungen. Verschließen Sie nicht benutzte
Verschraubungen mit einem Blindstopfen.
Achten Sie darauf, die korrekte Kombination
aus Kabelverschraubung bzw. Verschluss-
schraube, Dichtung bzw. O-Ring, Gegen-
mutter und ggf. Blindstopfen zu verwenden
(siehe Rahmen in den Bildern 9-12).
Bitte beachten: Alle Dichtungen werden an
der Außenseite des Gehäuses angebracht.
• Remove all cables from the terminal strips
of the modules.
• Open the strain reliefs of the cable glands
(outer screw caps) and carefully pull all
cables out of the instrument.
• Unscrew the lock nuts of the cable glands
and screw plugs.
Remove the old cable glands and screw
plugs including accessories. A possibly
present support plate is no longer used.
• Mount the new cable glands and tighten
unused cable glands with a fitting blind
plug.
Make sure to use the correct combination
of cable gland or screw plug, flat sealing or
O-ring, lock nut and, if appropriate, blind
plug (see frames in figures 9 to 12).
Please note: All seals must be placed on
the outside of the housing.

• Montieren Sie die neuen Verschlussschrauben.
Bitte beachten: Alle Dichtungen werden an
der Außenseite des Gehäuses angebracht.
• Schließen Sie alle Kabel wieder an.
Beachten Sie die Anschlussaufkleber im
Gerät und/oder ihre eigenen Notizen.
• Erden Sie die Kabelschirme an der Erdschiene.
• Ziehen Sie dann die Überwurfmuttern aller
Kabelverschraubungen an, bis die Zugent-
lastungen der Kabel gewährleistet sind.
• Schließen Sie den Deckel, stellen Sie die
Stromversorgung des MUS wieder her und
prüfen Sie die Funktionen des Gerätes.
• Mount the new screw plugs.
Please note: All seals must be placed on
the outside of the housing.
• Reconnect all cables to the modules.
Note the wiring diagram stickers inside the
instrument and/or your own notes.
• Ground the cable shields to the ground bar.
• Tighten the outer screw caps of all cable
glands until the strain reliefs are ensured.
• Close and screw down the lid, restore the
power supply of the transmitter power
supply unit and check the functions of the
instrument.
