1 Introduction
1. Introduction
1.1. General
This user manual contain important information about your product's functions and
characteristics, and how to use it in the best way. Before you begin using the product, it is
important that you read and understand the content of these instructions, especially the
sections that address safety.
In addition to these instructions, you must study and understand the applicable safety
information for the relevant base machine as well as any other equipment involved.
The user manual is supplied with supplementary documentation providing more detailed
descriptions of the installation, fitting, operation and maintenance of control systems and
custom modifications for your specific product.
Information, images, illustrations and specifications used in the instructions are based
on product information that was available at the time of going to press. Images and
illustrations used in the instructions are typical examples and not intended to be exact
depictions of various part of the product. We reserve the right to make changes without
prior notice.
Always store the user manual together with any other supplementary information in a safe
manner and such that it is always available.
1.2. Scrapping and recycling
engcon makes constant efforts to reduce its environmental impact. engcon's products
comprise at least 99 per cent recyclable material. All assembly and service work must
take place in compliance with legislation and ordinances governing the environment,
health and occupational safety. This refers to all work with residual materials including
handling, storage and processing. To prevent contamination of soil and water, spillages
must be avoided. Should a spillage occur, it must be dealt with.
Hazardous waste may only be disposed of by those authorized to do so. All waste
produced must be disposed of in compliance with applicable legislation and ordinances:
- Metal and plastics to be recycled.
- Hydraulic hoses are normally used for energy recovery (sort as hazardous waste).
- Oils and greases are normally used for energy recovery (sort as hazardous waste).
- Electronic components to be recycled for materials (sort as hazardous waste).
- Packaging to be sorted at source and recycled for materials.
- Paper to be sorted at source and recycled for materials.

3.1. DC3
The DC3 is a proportional control system with remote support. Our DC3 control system
meets the standards demanded of all components such as hydraulics, electronics and
software. Together with engcon’s tiltrotators with their built-in safety functions, the DC3
creates a safer work environment and enables track and wheel control as well as boom
slew. engcon’s DC3 smartphone app allows remote support in addition to PC and USB
cable connection.

3.4. Electronics module - QLM
QLM is used in combination with a Q-Safe quick coupler/machine coupler and alerts by
means of audible and visual signals if both bucket axles are not locked or in their proper
positions. This means QLM will alert when connecting and disconnecting tools or if a tool
is not properly connected.
REMARKS
For quick couplers other than Q-Safe, follow the manufacturer's
instructions for checking that tools are correctly connected.

5.1. DC3 for Android and iOS
With the aid of the engcon DC3 app, you can adjust and set up your system with
changes that suit you. Creating an account allows these settings to be backed up and
available should you change your smartphone. When the app starts for the first time, it
provides information about available features. Not only is the DC3 manual available in
the app, there is also the option of remote support. It allows a technician to help you with
troubleshooting should a fault occur in your machine.
5.1.1. Getting started
1. Download engcon DC3 from the Play Store or App Store. Go to the store and search
for “engcon DC3”, or scan one of the QR codes below.
2. You can log in via a telephone number or social media.
3. Connect to your machine. When you log in for the first time, you will be prompted to
connect to a nearby control system. Follow the instructions in the app.
4. You can also opt to join later. The control system is found in settings, where there is an
option to connect to a new or a previously connected control system.
5.1.2. The tool application
Add your tools by going into the tool application. You can also enter settings for each tool,
and make them behave the way you want them to.
5.1.3. Soft assignment
WARNING
Functions may move differently than expected. Use
the app to check which functions are available. Risk of
injury.
The powerful Soft Assignment feature provides quick access to various functions, without
having to reconfigure your joystick or machine.
5.2. QSC Quick guide
A guide on how to open and close quick coupler locks using the control panel is included.
It can be useful to keep the guide within easy reach; it is described in section 5.3.

the system warns of a faulty tool connection during

Machine hydraulics must be activated in order for the QSC
opening and closing function to work.

Follow the manufacturer's instructions for connecting and
disconnecting tools if you do not use a Q-Safe quick coupler.

1. Check that the indicator rod is out.

close the quick coupler.
3. Check that the indicator rod is no longer visible
and that the axle is in the correct position.
4. When the sound and light warning signals are
deactivated, the tool is correctly connected.
