Safety In truction
● When workin with the CPCI-DP-2S follow the instructions below and read the manual carefully to
protect yourself from injury and the CPCI-DP-2S from dama e.
● The device is a built-in component. It is essential to ensure that the device is mounted in a way that
cannot lead to endan erin or injury of persons or dama e to objects.
● Do not use dama ed or defective cables to connect the CPCI-DP-2S.
● In case of dama es to the device, which mi ht affect safety, appropriate and immediate measures
must be taken, that exclude an endan erment of persons and domestic animals and property.
● Current circuits which are connected to the device have to be sufficiently protected a ainst
hazardous volta e (SELV accordin to EN 60950-1).
● The CPCI-DP-2S may only be driven by power supply current circuits, that are contact protected.
A power supply, that provides a safety extra-low volta e (SELV) accordin to EN 60950-1, complies
with this conditions.
● The device has to be securely installed in the control cabinet before commissionin .
● Protect the CPCI-DP-2S from dust, moisture and steam.
● Protect the CPCI-DP-2S from shocks and vibrations.
● The CPCI-DP-2S may become warm durin normal use. Always allow adequate ventilation around
the CPCI-DP-2S and use care when handlin .
● Do not operate the CPCI-DP-2S adjacent to heat sources and do not expose it to unnecessary
thermal radiation. Ensure an ambient temperature as specified in the technical data.
DANGER
Hazardous Volta e - Ri k of electric hock due to unintentional contact with
uninsulated live parts with hi h volta es inside of the system into which the CPCI-DP-2S
is to be inte rated.
→ Disconnect all hazardous volta es (mains volta e) before openin the system.
→ Ensure the absence of volta e before startin any electrical work
NOTICE
Electro tatic di charge may cau e damage to electronic component .
To avoid this, perform the steps described on pa e 12 before you touch the CPCI-DP-2S,
in order to dischar e the static electricity from your body.
Qualified Per onal
This documentation is directed exclusively towards personal qualified in control and automation
en ineerin .
The installation and commissionin of the product may only be carried out by qualified personal,
which is authorized to put devices, systems and electric circuits into operation accordin to the
applicable national standards of safety en ineerin .
Conformity
The CPCI-DP-2S is an industrial product and meets the demands of the EU re ulations and EMC
standards printed in the conformity declaration at the end of this manual.
Warning: In a residential, commercial or li ht industrial environment the CPCI-DP-2S may cause
radio interferences in which case the user may be required to take adequate measures.
Data Safety
This device is equipped with an Ethernet or other interface which is suitable to establish a
connection to data networks. Dependin on the software used on the device, these interfaces may
allow attackers to compromise normal function, et ille al access or cause dama e. esd does not
take responsibility for any dama e caused by the device if operated at any networks. It is the
responsibility of the device's user to take care that necessary safety precautions for the device's
network interface are in place.

Intended U e
The intended use of the CPCI-DP-2S is the operation as CompactPCI Board with 2 PROFIBUS-
DP® Slave Interfaces in a CompactPCI system.
The uarantee iven by esd does not cover dama es which result from improper use, usa e not in
accordance with re ulations or disre ard of safety instructions and warnin s.
● The CPCI-DP-2S is intended for installation in a CompactPCI system only.
● The operation of the CPCI-DP-2S in hazardous areas, or areas exposed to potentially explosive
materials is not permitted.
● The operation of the CPCI-DP-2S for medical purposes is prohibited.
Service Note
The CPCI-DP-2S does not contain any parts that require maintenance by the user. The CPCI-DP-
2S does not require any manual confi uration of the hardware.
Di po al
Devices which have become defective in the lon run have to be disposed in an appropriate way or
have to be returned to the manufacturer for proper disposal. Please, make a contribution to
environmental protection.

Overview
1. Overview
Figure 1: Block circuit dia ram
The CPCI-DP-2S is an intelli ent CompactPCI® board in 3U form factor with 2 PROFIBUS DP®
slave interfaces .
The PPC405GP PowerPCTM controller comes with a powerful CPU core, an SDRAM controller and
a controller for the serial interface. The serial interface is only intended for internal test- and
pro rammin purposes.
The PROFIBUS DP interfaces on the front panel are desi ned as RS-485 interfaces and are each
controlled via a DP Slave Controller (SPC3).
Both interfaces are electrically isolated from the other units via RS-485 driver components with
isolation (IL485) and DC/DC-converters.
The status of the CPCI-DP-2S is indicated by LEDs in the front panel.

2.2.1 PROFIBUS DP Statu LED “E”
This LED indicates the PROFIBUS DP Status of the PROFIBUS DP channels in multiplex
operation. One after the other the current status of the sin le channels is shown for 4 seconds
each.
The LEDs are “on” until an error occurs on a channel.
In case of an error the channels are indicated as follows:
first channel - ONE lon ON period (0,25 s OFF +0,75 s ON) and the
second channel - TWO lon ON periods (0,25 s OFF + 0,75 s ON + 0,25 s OFF + 0,75 s ON)
Afterwards the error status is shown via the blinkin sequences described in the followin table:

→
Disconnect all hazardous volta es (mains volta e) before openin the system.
If the system does not have a flexible mains cable, but is directly connected to
mains, disconnect the power supply via the safety fuse and make sure that the
fuse cannot switch on a ain unintentionally (i.e. with caution label).
Ensure the absence of volta e before startin any electrical work
4. Open the case.
5. Insert the CPCI-DP-2S board into the selected CompactPCI slot. Carefully push the board
until it snaps into place.
6. Close the system's case a ain.
7. Connect the PROFIBUS DP interfaces via the connectors in the front panel of the CPCI-DP-
2S.
8. Connect the system to mains a ain (mains connector or safety fuse).
9. Switch on the system and the peripheral devices.
10. End of hardware installation.
11. Set the interface properties in your operatin system. Refer to the documentation of the
operatin system.

The resource-mana er provides the functionalities per devctl() with the followin commands
–DPCTL_START: Start the ateway application
–DPCTL_SEND: Transmit the input process data to PROFIBUS
–DPCTL_TAKE: Receive the output process data from PROFIBUS
7.3.1 DPCTL_START
DPCTL_START Start DP Slave
Input: DPSTART.node Node address. This node number has to be set in the
TIA Portal as described on pa e 31.
Output: DPSTART.baud Baud rate, as set durin confi uration of the
PROFIBUS-DP interface via PLC
DPSTART.buf_out_len Len of output buffer = DP Master Input Len
DPSTART.buf_in_len Len of input buffer = DP Master Output Len
devctl result: EOK => Firmware started. Look at dpStatus
EAGAIN => Firmware not started yet, try a ain
pnStatus: >=0 => Firmware runnin error-free
<0 => Firmware runnin with error code
Description: Start the ateway application
