This guide is an installation aid for a proper installation of the device.
Please read the following instructions prior installation:
1.) Please treat all parts of the sound system and the components of your vehicle with caution.
2.) Follow under all circumstance the regulations of the vehicle manufacturer and do not make any modifications
on the vehicle, which could interfere the driving safety.
3.) Please disconnect due to safety reasons the ground connection of the vehicle‘s battery before installation.
4.) Please ensure the correct polarity of all connections.
5.) Please do not modify or cut cables or jacks of the vehicle or the device, otherwise the warranty may be voided.
6.) Make sure that no cables are squeezed or cause a short circuit.
7.) Lead no cable before the airbags (e.g. dashboard) or in a manner that they will be impaired in their function.
Important Notes prior to installation:
Die Ihnen vorliegende Anleitung ist eine Einbauhilfe zur fachgerechten Montage des Geräts.
Beachten Sie dazu die folgenden Hinweise vor der Installation:
1.) Behandeln Sie bitte alle Teile des Soundsystems und die Komponenten Ihres Fahrzeugs grundsätzlich mit Vorsicht.
2.) Beachten Sie unter allen Umständen die Vorschriften des Fahrzeugherstellers und nehmen Sie keine Veränderungen
am Fahrzeug vor, welche die Fahrsicherheit beeinträchtigen könnten.
3.) Klemmen Sie vor der Installation aus Sicherheitsgründen den Masseanschluß der Kfz-Batterie vor der Installation ab.
4.) Bitte achten Sie stets auf die korrekte Polarität der Anschlüsse.
5.) Bitte modifizieren Sie keine Kabelsätze oder Anschlüsse des Geräts oder des Fahrzeugs oder der Garantieanspruch
könnte davon beeinträchtigt werden.
6.) Achten Sie unbedingt darauf, dass keine Kabel gequetscht werden oder einen Kurzschluss verursachen.
7.) Verlegen Sie keine Kabel vor den Airbags z.B. im Armaturenbrett oder in einer Art und Weise, dass diese in ihrer Funktion
beeinträchtigt werden.

GPS or DAB antenna:
The GPS (13) antenna or the DAB antenna (17) must be mounted horizontally in
front on the dashboard (ensure a clear view to the sky).A metalized windscreen
allows no reception. If a factory GPS antenna with the same connector type
(Fakra) is already available, it can be used. Then the installation of the included
GPS antenna is not necessary.
GPS oder DAB Antenne:
Die GPS Antenne (13) bzw. DAB Antenne (17) muss waagerecht, nach Möglich-
keit vorne auf dem Armaturenbrett montiert werden (auf freie Sicht zum Him-
mel achten). Bei einer metallbedampften Scheibe ist kein Empfang möglich.
Falls eine werksseitige GPS-Antenne mit dem denselben Steckertyp (Fakra)
bereits vorhanden ist, kann diese verwendet werden. Die Installation der bei-
liegenden GPS Antenne entfällt.
BT-Microphone:
Mount the supplied microphone (12) at a suitable point such as at the A-pillar
(driver‘s side) or on the roof lining at the interior lamp. Avoid laying the cable
over the steering column. In general, the cable should be long enough to reach
a desired mounting point at the A-pillar (driver‘s side) while laying the cable
over the the passenger‘s side. A possibly existing factory microphone is not
compatible with the ESX device. Please use the supplied microphone.
BT-Mikrofon:
Montieren Sie das beiliegende Mikrofon (12) an einem geeigneten Montage-
punkt wie z.B. an der A-Säule (Fahrerseite) oder am Dachhimmel bei der In-
nenraumleuchte. Vermeiden Sie das Verlegen des Kabels über die Lenksäule.
In der Regel sollte das Kabel lang genug sein, um die A-Säule (Fahrerseite)
über die Beifahrerseite zu erreichen. Ein evtl. werksseitig vorhandenes Mik-
rofon ist nicht kompatibel mit dem ESX Gerät. Bitte verwenden Sie das mit-
gelieferte Mikrofon.
USB/iPod/iPhone Connectors:
Route the cables (10) or (11) to a desired location, such as the glove box. If
necessary, you must drill openings. One of the USB ports needed for the TMC
antenna (15).
USB/iPod/iPhone Anschlüsse:
Verlegen Sie die Kabel (10) oder (11) an den gewünschten Einbauort, wie z.B.
im Handschuhfach. Gegebenenfalls müssen dafür Öffnungen gebohrt werden.
Einer der USB Anschlüsse wird für die TMC Antenne (15) benötigt.

Transportation lock:
Remove both transportation locks on top of the device before you start the
installation.
Transportsicherung:
Entfernen Sie beide Transportsicherungen auf der Oberseite des Geräts, bevor
Sie mit der Installation beginnen.

TMC cable antenna:
Connect the enclosed TMC antenna (15) with a free USB port on and then lay
the antenna. For optimal reception it should be fastened to the windscreen
by using the suction cups, a hidden installation e.g. under the A-pillar or the
dashboard is also possible.
TMC Kabelantenne:
Schließen Sie die beiliegende TMC Antenne (15) an einen freien USB Anschluss
an und verlegen Sie dann die Wurfantenne. Für optimalen Empfang kann diese
an der Scheibe mithilfe der Saugnäpfe befestigt werden, auch ein verstecktes
Verlegen z.B. unter der A-Säule oder unter dem Armaturenbrett ist möglich.

Handbrake connection:
Depending on the type of vehicle the CAN-BUS sends the information of the
handbrake signal to the ESX device. If this is not the case, the included cable
handbrake connection (14) needs to be connected. The signal must be con-
nected with ground while the handbrake is applied. Please contact for a proper
and safe installation your car dealer! According to legal regulations, the device
must playback a DVD or video on the main screen only with the handbrake
applied, Never connect the the cable permanently with the vehicle‘s ground. To
prevent accidents by inattention while driving, the screen is blanked.The video
outputs (7) are not affected.
Handbremsen-Anschluss:
Je nach Fahrzeugtyp sendet der CAN-BUS die Information des Handbremsen-
signals an das ESX Gerät. Sollte dies nicht der Fall sein, muss das beiliegende
Kabel Handsbremsen-Anschluss (14) angeschlossen werden. Das Signal muss
bei angezogener Handbremse auf Masse liegen. Bitte wenden Sie sich für eine
korrekte und gefahrlose Installation an Ihre KFZ-Fachwerkstatt! Gemäß den
gesetzlichen Bestimmungen darf das Gerät eine DVD bzw. Videowiedergabe
auf dem Hauptbildschirm nur bei angezogener Handbremse wiedergeben,
das Anschlusskabel darf deshalb nicht dauerhaft auf Masse angeschlossen
werden. Während der Fahrt wird der Bildschirm zur Vermeidung von Unfällen
durch Unachtsamkeit dunkel geschaltet Die Videoausgänge (7) sind hiervon
nicht betroffen.

Rückfahrkamera:
Verwenden Sie hierzu den Anschluss „Rear Cam Input“ (6) in Verbindung mit dem jedem Gerät beiliegenden passenden 6-poligen
Stecker. Der Stecker hat die folgenden Anschlüsse:
Gelbe Cinchbuchse Videosignal der Rückfahrkamera
„REVERSE“ blaues Kabel Rückwärtsgangsignal (12V)
„GND“ schwarzes Kabel Masseanschluss einer optionalen Kamera
„+12V“ rotes Kabel Stromanschluss für eine optionale Kamera (max. 500mA)
Achtung! 12V Ausgang, sobald 12V
an „Reverse“ anliegen!
Schließen sie das Videosignal Ihrer Kamera per Cinch an die gelbe Cinchbuchse an. Schließen Sie das Rückwärtsgang-Signal (12V
sobald der Rückwärtsgang eingelegt ist, z.B. vom Rückfahrscheinwerfer) des Fahrzeuges an „REVERSE“ (blaues Kabel) an. Das „GND“
Kabel sowie das „+12V“ Kabel müssen nicht zwingend angeschlossen werden, können aber als Stromversorgung für die Kamera
verwendet werden.
Aktivieren sie abschließend den Punkt „CCD-Kamera“ unter APPS -> OPTIONEN-> „Bildschirm“.
Bedienhinweis: Ist der Rückwärtsgang eingelegt, lässt das Gerät keine andere Bedienung zu, alle Tasten (außer) Lautstärkeregelung
werden aus Sicherheitsgründen blockiert. Ist das Gerät ausgeschaltet und der Rückwärtsgang wird eingelegt, lässt sich deshalb das
Gerät auch nicht einschalten.
6Rear Cam:
Please use the „Rear Cam Input“ (6) together with the included 6-pin connec-
tor. This connector has the connections:
Yellow RCA Video signal of the rear cam
„REVERSE“ blue cable Reverse signal (12V)
„GND“ black cable Ground connection of the rear cam
„+12V“ red cable Power connection of the rear cam (max. 500 mA)
Warning! 12V output, as soon as 12V
are connected to „Reverse“!
Connect the camera via RCA to the yellow RCA connector. Then connect the reverse signal (12V as soon as the reverse gear is engaged,
e.g. from the reversing lights) from the vehicle at „REVERSE“ (blue cable). The connection of the „GND“ and „+12V“ cables is not man-
datory, but can used as power supply for the rear cam.
Now activate the „CCD-Camera“ checkbox under APPS -> OPTIONS -> DISPLAY at the ESX device.
Operation note: When the reverse gear is engaged, the device does not allow any other operation, all the buttons and controller except
volume control are blocked for security reasons. If the device is switched off and the reverse gear is engaged, the device can not even
turn on.

2.) Lift the sensor carefully, after you have slightly loosen the left and
right fixings. Then disconnect the cable connector, but make sure that
the connector slips not inside.

links und rechts lockern. Ziehen Sie dann den Kabelstecker ab, aber
achten Sie darauf das dieser nicht ins Fahrzeuginnere fällt.

3.) Carefully lift the ventilation grille and set it aside.

4.) Remove the fixing screw of the ventilation cover.

1.) Remove the light sensor from the ventilation grille (depending on model,
if applicable) below the windscreen.

vorhanden) unter der Windschutzscheibe.

6.) Remove both screws (Torx 25) of the ventilation.
6.) Entfernen Sie beide Schrauben (Torx 25) des Lüfters.

7.) Carefully lift the ventilation frame upward, but only a bit,
the frame is still connected with the original radio.
7.) Heben Sie vorsichtig den Rahmen der Lüftung nach oben, aber nur ein
wenig, da der Rahmen weiterhin mit dem Original-Radio verbunden ist.

8.) Carefully pry on both sides the the upper panel from the lower radio panel.
Best is to use a plastic mounting wedge to avoid scratching the surface.
8.) Hebeln Sie an beiden Seiten vorsichtig die obere Blende von der unteren
Radioblende. Nehmen Sie dazu am besten einen Kunststoff-Montragekeil
um Beschädigungen an der Oberfläche zu vermeiden.

5.) Carefully lift the ventilation cover and set it aside.
5.) Heben Sie vorsichtig die Lüfterabdeckung und legen sie beiseite.

10.) Remove both screws of the panel and loose the radio slightly.

9.) Lift the upper panel a bit.

14.) Then disconnect the both antenna connectors (depending on car and
configuration) and the huge car specific connector from the radio.
If the original Fakra antenna plug does not fit mechanically into
the ESX device, we recommend the usage of an adaptor (see page 2).
14.) Entfernen Sie dann die beiden Antennenstecker (Modell-/Ausstat-
tungsabhängig) und den großen fahrzeugspezifischen Kabelstecker
am Radio. Sollte der werksseitge Fakra Antennenstecker mechanisch
nicht in das ESX Gerät passen, empfehlen wir die Verwendung eines
Adapters (Siehe Seite 2).

15.) Lay the connection cable sets of new ESX device (refer to page 4-5)
inside the vehicle to the desired location and connect these according
with the sockets on the new ESX device. Plug in also the huge car specific
and the antenna connector. For a proper connection of the both Fakra jacks
you need an additional adaptor (refer to page 2)
15.) Verlegen Sie nun die Anschlusskabel des neuen ESX Geräts (siehe S. 4-5) im
Fahrzeug zum gewünschten Einbauort und schließen diese entsprechend
am neuen ESX Gerät an. Schließen Sie ebenfalls den großen fahrzeug-
spezifischen Kabelstecker und den Antennenstecker an. Für einen
fachgerechten Anschluss benötigen Sie für die beiden Fakra-Stecker
einen zusätzlichen Adapter (Siehe S. 2)

13.) Remove the 4 screws (Torx 25) which hold the radio.
Then pull the radio out of the bay.
13.) Entfernen Sie die 4 Schrauben (Torx 25) die das Radio halten.
Ziehen Sie dann den Radio vorsichtig aus dem Schacht.
16. Before you complete the installation of the new ESX device, check its function.
Please note that it may take up to 15 minutes, until a GPS signal can be
received (in the open). After the successful check of the functions,
re-assemble the new device in the reverse order (steps 1-13).
16. Prüfen Sie vor dem Zusammenbau das neue ESX Gerät auf seine Funktion.
Bitte beachten Sie, dass es bis zu 15 Minuten dauern kann, bis ein
GPS Signal (unter freiem Himmel) empfangen werden kann. Führen Sie
nach erfolgreicher Prüfung der Funktionen dann den Zusammenbau (1-13)
in umgekehrter Reihenfolge durch.

2.) Disconnect the cable plug on the right panel (Airbag Control Lamp)
on the back.
2.) Ziehen Sie den Kabelstecker der rechten Blende (Airbag-Kontrollleuchte)
auf der Rückseite ab.

3.) Carefully pry the radio panel from the dashboard with a mounting wedge.
Then remove the connector of the warning light switch in the middle.
3.) Hebeln Sie mit einem Montagekeil vorsichtig die Radioblende aus dem
Armaturenbrett. Danach entfernen Sie den Stecker am Warnblinker-Schalter.

1.) Remove the 2 panels over the original radio with a mounting wedge.
1.) Entfernen Sie die beiden Blenden über dem Original-Radio mit einem
Montagekeil.

6.) Then disconnect the both antenna connectors and the huge car specific
connector from the radio.
6.) Entfernen Sie dann die beiden Antennenstecker und den großen
fahrzeugspezifischen Kabelstecker am Radio.

8.) Lay the connection cable sets of new ESX device (refer to page 4-5)
inside the vehicle to the desired location and connect these according
with the sockets on the new ESX device. Plug in also the huge car specific

spezifischen Kabelstecker und den Antennenstecker an. Für einen
fachgerechten Anschluss benötigen Sie für die beiden Fakra-Stecker
einen zusätzlichen Adapter (Siehe S. 2)

5.) Remove the 4 screws (Torx 25) which hold the radio.
Then pull the radio out of the bay.

Ziehen Sie dann das Radio vorsichtig aus dem Schacht.
7. Now install the new ESX device in your vehicle.
7. Installieren Sie jetzt das neue ESX Gerät in Ihrem Fahrzeug.

9.) Before you complete the installation, make a function check. Please note
that it may take up to 15 minutes, until a GPS signal can be received.
ATTENTION: Before you start the function check and turn on the ignition,
you must mandatorily reconnect the Airbag Control Lamp (Right panel).
Otherwise the vehicle‘s board computer indicates a airbag malfunction.
9.) Prüfen Sie vor dem Zusammenbau die Funktion des Geräts. Es kann bis zu
15 Minuten dauern, bis ein GPS Signal empfangen werden kann.
ACHTUNG: Bevor Sie beginnen, die Funktion zu überprüfen und die Zündung
einzuschalten, müssen Sie unbedingt die Airbag-Kontrollleuchte (rechte
Blende) wieder anschließen. Ansonsten zeigt der Bordcomputer eine
Airbag-Fehlfunktion.
10.) After the successful check of the functions,
re-assemble the new device in the reverse order (steps 1-5).

6.) Then disconnect the both antenna connectors (depending on car and
configuration) and the huge car specific connector from the radio.
If the original Fakra antenna plug does not fit mechanically into
the ESX device, we recommend the usage of an adaptor (see page 2).
6.) Entfernen Sie dann die beiden Antennenstecker (Modell-/Ausstat-
tungsabhängig) und den großen fahrzeugspezifischen Kabelstecker

7.) Lay the connection cable sets of new ESX device (refer to page 4-5)
inside the vehicle to the desired location and connect these according
with the sockets on the new ESX device. Plug in also the huge car specific
and the antenna connector. For a proper connection of the both Fakra jacks
you need an additional adaptor (refer to page 2)
7.) Verlegen Sie nun die Anschlusskabel des neuen ESX Geräts (siehe S. 4-5) im
Fahrzeug zum gewünschten Einbauort und schließen diese entsprechend
am neuen ESX Gerät an. Schließen Sie ebenfalls den großen fahrzeug-
spezifischen Kabelstecker und den Antennenstecker an. Für einen
fachgerechten Anschluss benötigen Sie für die beiden Fakra-Stecker
einen zusätzlichen Adapter (Siehe S. 2)

8. Before you complete the installation of the new ESX device, check its function.
Please note that it may take up to 15 minutes, until a GPS signal can be
received (in the open). After the successful check of the functions,
re-assemble the new device in the reverse order (steps 1-4).
8. Prüfen Sie vor dem Zusammenbau das neue ESX Gerät auf seine Funktion.
Bitte beachten Sie, dass es bis zu 15 Minuten dauern kann, bis ein
GPS Signal (unter freiem Himmel) empfangen werden kann. Führen Sie
nach erfolgreicher Prüfung der Funktionen dann den Zusammenbau (1-4)
in umgekehrter Reihenfolge durch.

5.) Carefully pull the radio out of the bay.
