Identifying the Software Version
To identify the version of your QuickTouch+ control software, turn the POWER keyswitch from
the “OFF” to the “ON” position. The software version is displayed in the LCD during the startup
and system test.

Responsible Use of Rigging Equipment
The operation of ETC Rigging™equipment requires responsible use and specific training. Only
authorized, trained personnel should operate rigging motors and their associated control
stations. Unauthorized use, alteration, or use for situations other than those for which it was
designed may cause damage to the equipment, other property damage, or injury to persons,
potentially of a severe nature. All safety precautions must be observed and adhered to at all
times.
Read and obey the following warning statements to ensure safe and consistent use of your ETC
Rigging system.
WARNING:
Only properly trained and authorized persons should operate ETC Rigging
systems. Operation by untrained persons may result in damage to the
system, other property damage, serious injury, or death.
WARNING:
When operating an ETC Prodigy Hoist, the user must have an unobstructed
view of the entire line set and its attached load. If the user’s view is
obstructed, a second person (spotter) MUST be used to assist the operator
at all times. The spotter must have an unobstructed view of all moving
components and be able to maintain clear communication with the operator
at all times.
If a problem arises while a hoist is moving (such as a mechanical issue or
interference from other objects) stop movement immediately by releasing
the up/down button or using the Emergency Stop button. If a spotter sees a
problem while a hoist is moving, the spotter must signal the user to stop
movement immediately.
WARNING:
ETC Prodigy hoists must only be used to move a maximum load equal to or
less than the capacity of your specific hoist. Overloading the hoist may
result in damage to the system, other property damage, serious injury, or
death.
WARNING:
ETC Prodigy hoists and QuickTouch+ control equipment should not be
operated by a user until installation and configuration have been completed
by an ETC trained and approved technician. Only ETC trained and approved
technicians are authorized to operate equipment during the installation and
configuration process.
WARNING:
ETC Prodigy hoists and QuickTouch+ control equipment are designed for
the raising and lowering of theatrical equipment within the approved hoist
capacity only. This equipment is not designed to lift or automate personnel
and such use is strictly prohibited.
WARNING:
Disconnect power before servicing this equipment.

Working Load Limit (WLL)
The Working Load Limit (WLL) of any hoist is the maximum load capacity that a user may apply to
a hoist or hoist system.
All Prodigy hoists have a Working Load Limit. This is identified on the product label on the back of
the hoist and on the batten label. This limit is not the same for all hoists, so be sure to check the
Working Load Limit for all hoists in your system. Prodigy Working Load Limits include a design-
safety factor.
NEVER exceed the Working Load Limit for any hoist.
WARNING:
• Do not exceed point load, Uniform Distributed Load (UDL), or Working
Load Limit (WLL) for any line set. See label on batten for POINT, UDL,
and WLL.
• Point, distributed, and working load limits may be different for each
hoist.
• Do not suspend persons from the hoist or any of its components.
• Do not ride on the batten.
• Do not operate equipment if unusual noises are heard coming from it.
• Do not operate equipment if unusual smells are coming from it.
• In the event of an Emergency Stop (E-Stop) do not restart the equipment
until the cause of the E-stop is identified and resolved.
• Never lock or jam the operating buttons in the depressed (“on”)
position.
• Use the remote control pendant when the load is obscured from this
operator position or have someone observe the load while it is moving.
• The operator must never leave the controller when the hoist is in motion.
• Remove the “Enable” key when a competent or qualified person is not
present.
• Disconnect or lock out power to the Prodigy Powerhead or QuickTouch+
controller before servicing the interior of the systems.
• Keep moisture away from the Prodigy Powerhead and QuickTouch+
controller.
• Always inspect and test the Prodigy hoisting system and QuickTouch+
controls before each use.
• Perform regular inspection and maintenance per the instruction manual.
• The system must be inspected annually by a qualified ETC Rigging
inspector.

Overview
QuickTouch+ control stations are designed to control Prodigy fixed speed and variable speed
hoists as well as other designated 3rd party motorized devices. The QuickTouch+ control
station is available in 4, 8, 12, and 24-motor configurations.
The User Interface
Below is a graphic of a 24-motor control station. Smaller stations will have fewer motor select
buttons, but all other features are identical. Key components of the interface are labeled for your
reference.
LCD Status Screen
The LCD is used to convey important information about your Prodigy-QuickTouch+ system.
Normally, the data displayed will be the “System OK” screen. This screen is displayed when no
motors are selected and there are no detected errors in the system.

When a motor is selected, the motor status screen offers important information about it. The
various components of the status screen are identified below.
System Not OK
The “System Not OK” screen is displayed, alternating with the contact information screen, and
the related motor select button(s) will flash red. Press the flashing red motor select button and
the errors will be displayed on the bottom two lines. If more than two errors exist, they will scroll
on the bottom two lines. Look for the motor select button or buttons with a flashing red LED
indicating the error.
Motor Select LEDs
The motor select buttons are equipped with LEDs to signify various conditions using a range of
color indicators.
The definitions for the various color states for the motor select buttons are:
White - motor selected, but not moving
Blinking Blue - motor moving up
Blinking Green - motor moving down
Blinking White - trim being recorded
Alternating Red and other -Error (see Status Messages, page 21)
Alternating Yellow and other - Informational messages
LED Dim - motor not selected
LED Off - inactive button/no motor assigned

Activate System
Keyswitch Activation
To enable the station for motor control, use the “POWER” keyswitch.
Insert the key into the keyswitch and turn it to the “On” position.
During power up, the control system performs a complete self-test of the control station and all
connected motors. When the station has powered up completely and no malfunctions were
detected, “System OK” appears on the LCD.
Contact information
The contact information screen is shown as the system powers up. This screen displays contact
information for the installer responsible for the system or ETC’s website and phone number.
Your installer may have chosen to display their contact information. The software version is also
displayed during the start up.
By default, this contact information is displayed for 3 seconds. To prolong the display of contact
information indefinitely, press and hold [Clear] during power up. The contact information will be
displayed until any other button is pressed.
Deactivation
When you are done using your control station, or when you will be leaving it unattended for any
length of time, deactivate the station using the “POWER” keyswitch.
Turn the keyswitch to the “Off” position and remove the key. The station will be deactivated.
WARNING:
QuickTouch+ control stations and other ETC Rigging components should
be operated and maintained by trained personnel only.

Control Motors
Selecting Motors
In order to control a motor (or motors) you must first select them using the select buttons on the
control station.
To select a motor press the button corresponding to the motor you wish to control. The LED for
that button will illuminate white when selected.
If you wish to control multiple motors, press the buttons for all desired motors. All selected
motors will display illuminated LEDs to indicate they are selected. The maximum number of
motors that can be operated simultaneously is set by the installer. This number is based on the
rigidity of the support structure and the physical arrangement of the motors in regard to the
control station and how many moving loads can be monitored by the operator at any given time.
To deselect a motor you may press the corresponding button again. The LED will go dim when
the motor is deselected. If all motors are deselected, the “System OK” screen will be displayed.
If more than the maximum number of motors is selected, the first motor that was selected will
deselect (then the second selected, then the third, and so on) so that the number of selected
motors never exceeds the maximum allowed number of motors.
To deselect all motors at once, press the [CLEAR] button.
Selected Motor Display
On selection of a motor, the LCD will display the status screen for that motor. If multiple motors
are selected, the status screen for the last selected motor will be displayed. For identification of
the components of this screen, see Motor Status Screen, page 9.

Emergency Stop
An emergency stop button (often called an E-stop button) stops all movement for all system
motors in the fastest possible way and it deselects all motors as well. Once pressed, the E-stop
button is maintained in a depressed position until it is reset.
It is possible to have multiple emergency stop buttons in your ETC Rigging system. All control
stations are equipped with an E-stop button. In addition, you may have up to three external E-
stop button stations in your system. If you are using the Prodigy Fixed Speed Remote Control,
you have an additional E-stop button on the remote when it is connected to the system.
Emergency stop buttons have an illuminated and dimmable ring around the button so that they
can be easily found in a dark stage environment. When an emergency stop has been activated,
the rings of all E-stop buttons on the system blink until the activated button (or buttons) is reset.
The LCD also informs you if the pressed E-Stop button is local, external, or remote.

Remote - E-stop on the remote control is pressed
External - E-stop on an external E-Stop station is pressed
Multiple - Multiple E-stop buttons are pressed
Resetting E-stop
Reset the E-stop circuit by turning the red button clockwise until it pops back into its raised
position.
After resetting the E-Stop, you must also cycle power at the control station using the power
keyswitch. You will not be able to move any motors until power has been cycled. The power
cycle will trigger a system reboot and self test, which lasts for less than five seconds.
Moving Motors
To move the selected motor or motors, press and hold the up [] or down [] button. Either
button is momentary (also known as a “Hold-to-run button” or “Dead Man Switch”). Therefore,
if you stop pressing either move button, all selected motors will stop moving until the button is
pressed again.
If both buttons are pressed and held at once, the motors will stop. If conflicting directions are
pressed on the control station and on the remote control at the same time (up & down, or the
reverse), the motors will stop.
All selected motors will stop when:
• the up or down button is released.
• any single selected motor produces a fault or error.
An individual motor may stop moving when:
• it reaches a trim position.
• it reaches a limit position.
Any other selected motors still within their set range of travel will continue to move normally.

Setting Motor Speed Before a Move
Variable speed motors can be set to move at a specific speed prior to pressing the move
buttons. This feature can be used to give a more predictable and constant speed of movement
prior to performing a move.
To set movement speed before a move:
Step 1: Press the motor select button of the variable speed motor (or motors) that you
wish to move. Make sure no fixed speed motors are selected.
Step 2: Adjust the speed slider to alter the speed of the move to be performed. Speed is
shown in the selected motor display. Speeds vary from 5-180 fpm.
Step 3: Once the desired speed is displayed, press and hold the up [] or down []
button. Selected motors will begin to move at the designated speed.
Controlling Speed During Motor Movement
Depending on the type of motor(s) selected, you can control the speed of movement while the
motor is moving. Speed of movement is indicated on the Motor Select Screen while the motor
is in motion. Only one motor’s speed can be viewed at a time.
To alter speed during movement:
Step 1: Select only variable speed motors.
Step 2: Press and hold the up [] or down [] button. Selected motors will begin to move.
Step 3: Move the speed slider to adjust the speed of all moving motors.
• Move the slider up to increase speed
• Move the slider down to decrease speed
Stopping Motors
To stop any moving motor, release the move (up [] or down []) button. The motor will stop.
If for any reason the motor does not stop, press the emergency stop button.
Note:
When used in conjunction with trims (see Trims, page 16) and specifically with
Moving to Trims, page 18, this feature can be very useful in performing speed-
specific scenery changes during a show. This can give you a predictable transition
to the next look on stage.
Note:
If any fixed speed hoists are selected, all hoists (fixed and variable speed) will
move at approximately 30 fpm, the only speed at which fixed speed hoists can
travel. To alter speed of variable speed hoists, deselect the fixed speed hoists and
resume movement.

Trims
Trims are user-programmable stopping points. If you do not record any trims, the motor will
travel completely between the limits set when the system was commissioned. Each motor can
have up to five trims recorded:
• High trim (a user-programmable upper limit, the highest point that QT+ will allow the
motor to reach)
• three intermediate trims
• Low trim (a user-programmable lower limit, the lowest point that the QT+ will allow the
motor to reach)
Once recorded, trims are indicated on the Motor
Status Screen position bar graph (see Motor Status
Screen, page 9).
• High and Low Trims are indicated by a
wedge (=High Trim, =Low Trim).
• Intermediate Trims 1-3 are indicated by an
arrow ().
Specific trim positions for any motor can be viewed
by selecting a motor and then pressing the [Trim]
button.
Recording and Deleting Trims
Setting a trim can be done by any trained and authorized personnel.
There are two methods of recording trims in QuickTouch+: using the [Trim] button or through
the Trim Menu (See “Using the Trim Menu” on page 17).
Using the [Trim] button
To quickly record a position as “Trim 2”, you can do so using the [Trim] button. With this method,
it is possible to record trim locations for more than one motor at a time.
To record a trim using the [Trim] button:
Step 1: Move the motor (or motors) to the desired position (see Moving Motors, page 12).
Step 2: Release the move button when the desired position is reached.
Step 3: Deselect all motors.
Step 4: Press and release the [Trim] button. Instructions appear on the LCD to press
and hold the select buttons for the desired motor(s).
Step 5: Press and hold the select buttons for all desired motors for 5 seconds. The LEDs
for those motors will blink white during this time. After 5 seconds, all motors with
their select buttons pressed will have their current positions stored as Trim 2.
• Pressing [Clear] or releasing the motor select buttons during record will
deselect all motors and abort the record operation.
Note:
Trims recorded using this method will always be stored as “Trim 2”. If you wish to
store to another trim number, or if you have stored a Trim 2 already and do not
wish to override it, use the Trim Menu method instead.




