Introduction
This manual will guide you through the operation procedures for your QuickTouch+ Mk2
rigging control system. For installation information, refer to the documentation that shipped
with your QuickTouch+ Mk2 back box or control panel and electronics assemblies.

information.
Note: Notes are helpful hints and information that is supplemental to the main text.

Identify the Software Version
To identify the version of your QuickTouch+ Mk2 software, turn the POWER key switch from
the OFF to the ON position. The software version is displayed in the LCD during the startup
and system test.

Safety and Warnings
WARNING: Only ETC trained/authorized persons should operate ETC
Rigging systems. Operation by untrained persons may result in damage to
the system, other property damage, serious injury, or death.
WARNING: When operating a hoist, the user must have an unobstructed
view of the entire line set and its attached load. If the user’s view is
obstructed, a second person (spotter) MUST be used to assist the operator at
all times. The spotter must have an unobstructed view of all moving
components and be able to maintain clear communication with the operator
at all times.
If a problem arises while a hoist is moving (such as a mechanical issue or
interference from other objects) stop movement immediately by releasing
the move button or using the Emergency Stop button. If a spotter sees a
problem while a hoist is moving, the spotter must signal the user to stop
movement immediately.
WARNING: Do not exceed point load, Uniform Distributed Load (UDL), or
Working Load Limit (WLL) or Hoist Capacity for any line set. ETC motors must
only be used to move a maximum load equal to or less than the capacity of
your specific motor. Overloading the motor may result in damage to the
system, other property damage, serious injury, or death.
WARNING: ETC motors and the QuickTouch+ Mk2 controller should not be
operated by a user until installation and configuration have been completed
by an ETC trained/authorized technician. Only ETC trained/authorized
technicians are authorized to operate equipment during the installation and
configuration process.
WARNING: The QuickTouch+ Mk2 controller is designed for the operating
of theatrical equipment within the approved motor capacity only. This
equipment is not designed to lift, move, fly, suspend, or automate people or
domestic animals, and such use is strictly prohibited.
WARNING: Disconnect power before servicing this equipment.
WARNING: The load carrying device (e.g., batten) installed on the wire
rope cable shall conform to DIN 56950-1:2012 and CWA 15902-1:2008 and the
relevant documentation shall be provided by the installer.

WARNING: Do not run the system without all emergency stop
switches/buttons connected and in position.
WARNING: Controller installation, maintenance and disposal shall be
performed by competent or qualified persons.
WARNING: Do not start initial operations before a competent person or a
trained specialist has inspected the equipment.
WARNING: Do not use a QuickTouch+ Mk2 without having done the
regular inspection.
WARNING: Do not connect a QuickTouch+ Mk2 to a power source other
than specified on the unit and in this manual.
WARNING: Do not modify a QuickTouch+ Mk2 in any way unless expressly
told to do so by the manufacturer.
WARNING: Do not modify the valves and adjustments of the safety
components and functionalities outside the limits provided in this manual, or
without the written authorization of the manufacturer.
WARNING: Do not open the controller or remove the outer casing if the
system is connected to a power source, even if the QuickTouch+ Mk2 itself is
not powered on. Doing so can result in damage to the product and is a
health hazard.
WARNING: Do not enable the hold-to-run control button (Up or Down
button) in any other way than described in this manual. The hold-to-run
control button should always be under manual operator control.
WARNING: Do not use a QuickTouch+ Mk2 if it does not appear to be in
100% perfect working order.
WARNING: Do not distract the operator’s attention while they are
operating the system.

Working Load Limit (WLL)
The Working Load Limit (WLL) of any hoist is the maximum load capacity that a user may apply
to a hoist or hoist system. All Prodigy hoists have a Working Load Limit that is identified on the
product label. This limit is not the same for all hoists. Prodigy Working Load Limits include a
design–safety factor.
WARNING: NEVER exceed the Working Load Limit for any hoist.

Chapter 3
Operation
QuickTouch+ Mk2 control stations are designed to control Prodigy fixed speed and variable
speed hoists as well as other designated third-party motorized devices. The QuickTouch+ Mk2
controller is available with one, six, and 12 motors.
Control Panel Interface
Review the components of the control panel for your QuickTouch+ Mk2 controller as these are
referenced throughout this document. The only difference between the six and 12 motor
controller is the number of selection buttons.

Status Screen
The status screen provides important information about your QuickTouch+ Mk2 system. When
the system is running without motors selected or errors detected, the System OK screen is
displayed.
When you select a motor, the Motor Status screen is displayed. This screen provides static and
dynamic information about the motor selected. If you have selected multiple motors, the
screen displays information for the last selected motor only.
When you move a motor, the speed, position, and location bar graph update dynamically.
When a system error occurs, the System Not OK screen alternates with the contact information
screen and the buttons of the selected motors flash red. Press the flashing red motor buttons
to display the errors on the bottom two lines. If more than two errors exist, they scroll on the
bottom two lines.
Motor Select Buttons
The motor select buttons are equipped with color LEDs to signify various conditions. These are
only present on the QuickTouch+ Mk2 6 Channel / 12 Channel controllers.
•White: Motor selected, but not moving
•Blinking blue: Motor moving up
•Blinking green: Motor moving down
•Blinking white: Trim being recorded
•Alternating red and other: Error (see Status Messages on page17 )
•Alternating yellow and other: Informational messages
•LED dim: Motor not selected
•LED off: Inactive button / no motor assigned

Activate the System
WARNING: QuickTouch+ control stations and other ETC Rigging
components should be operated and maintained by trained personnel only.
WARNING: Do not move load into people or other obstacles such as
scenery.
Machinery must only be operated from a line-of-sight position. The entire
load must be visible by the operator at all times during travel.
To enable the station for motor control, insert the key into the POWERkey
switch and turn it to the ON position.
During power up, the control system performs a complete self-test of the
control station and all connected motors. When the station has powered up
completely and no malfunctions were detected, System OK appears on the
screen.
Contact Information
The contact information screen is shown as the system powers up. This screen displays contact
information for the installer responsible for the system or the ETC website and phone number.
Your installer may have chosen to display their contact information. The software version is
also displayed during the start up.
By default, this contact information is displayed for three seconds. To prolong the display of
contact information indefinitely, press and hold [Clear] during power up. The contact
information will be displayed until any other button is pressed. You can also allow the
controller to time out and the information will be displayed again.
Deactivate the System
When you are done using your control station, or when you will be leaving it
unattended for any length of time, deactivate the station using the POWER
key switch.
Turn the key switch to the OFF position and remove the key. The station will
be deactivated.
Emergency Stop
An emergency stop (E-stop) button stops all movement for all system motors in the fastest
possible way and deselects all motors. Once pressed, the E-stop button is maintained in an
activated position until it is reset.
It is possible to have multiple emergency stop buttons in your ETC Rigging system:

• Your QuickTouch+ Mk2 controller has an E-stop button
• You can have up to four external E-stop button stations
• You can also have an ETC Rigging Remote Control, which also has an E-stop button
E-stop buttons have an illuminated and dimmable ring around the button so they can easily be
found in a dark stage environment. When an E-stop is activated, the rings of all E-stop buttons
in the system blink until the activated buttons are reset. The LCD also informs you if the
pressed E-stop button is local, external, or remote.
LCD E-stop Messages
• Local: Local E-stop pressed
• Remote: Remote E-stop pressed
• External: External E-stop pressed
• Multiple: Multiple E-stop pressed
Resetting E-stop
Reset the E-stop by turning the red button clockwise or counterclockwise
until it pops back into its raised position.
After resetting the E-stop, you must also cycle power at the control station
using the POWER key switch. You will not be able to move any motors until
power has been cycled. Cycling power prompts a system reboot and self
test, which lasts for less than five seconds.
Select Motors
Motor selection is only possible on the QT+ MK2 6CH and QT+ Mk2 12CH controllers, and
must be done before motor movement.
To select a motor, press the corresponding channel button. The channel number on the button
illuminates in white when selected.

If you wish to control multiple motors, press the buttons for all desired channels. All selected
channels stay illuminated to indicate they are selected.
To deselect a motor, press the channel button a second time. The channel number dims when
the motor is deselected. When all motors are deselected, the SYSTEM OK screen is displayed.
Note: There is a maximum number of motors that can be operated simultaneously.
This number is set by the installer and is based on the rigidity of the support structure
and the physical arrangement of the motors in regard to the control station and how
many moving loads can be monitored by the operator at any given time.
If more than the maximum number of motors is selected, the first motor that was selected is
deselected (then the second selected, then the third, and so on) so that the number of
selected motors never exceeds the maximum allowed number of motors.
To deselect all motors at once, press the [Clear] button.
The motor select buttons are equipped with color LEDs to signify various conditions. These are
only present on the QuickTouch+ Mk2 6 Channel / 12 Channel controllers.

Selected Motor Display
On selection of a motor, the LCD will display the status screen for that motor. If multiple
motors are selected, the status screen for the last selected motor will be displayed.

Manual Motor Movement
To move the selected motor or motors, press and hold the Up or Down button. Upon
releasing a move button, all selected motors stop moving.
Note: If both buttons are pressed and held at once, the motors do not move. If
conflicting directions are pressed simultaneously from different controllers (i.e., Up on
the QuickTouch+ Mk2 and Down on a remote control), the motors do not move.
All selected motors stop when:
•The Up or Down button is released
• Any single selected motor produces a fault or error
An individual motor may stop moving when:
• It reaches a trim position.
• It reaches a limit position.
If individual motors stop due to a trim or limit being reached, all other selected motors still
within their set range of travel continue to move normally.

Motor Speed
QT+ MK2 1CH QT+ MK2 6CH/12CH
Variable speed motors can have their speed set before
or adjusted during movement.
Set Motor Speed Before Movement
Variable speed motors can be set to move at a specific
speed prior to pressing the move buttons. This feature
can be used to give a more predictable and constant
speed of movement prior to performing a move.
To set movement speed before a move:
1. Press the motor select button of the variable speed motor (or motors) that you wish to
move. Make sure no fixed speed motors are selected.
2. Adjust the speed slider to alter the speed of the move to be performed. Speed is shown
in the selected motor display. Speeds vary from 5–180 fpm.
3. Once the desired speed is displayed, press and hold the Up or Down button.
Selected motors will begin to move at the designated speed.
Note: When used in conjunction with trims (see Move to Trims on page14), this
feature can be very useful in performing speed-specific scenery changes during a
show. This can give you a predictable transition to the next look on stage.
Adjust Speed During Movement
Depending on the type of motor(s) selected, you can control the speed of movement while the
motor is moving. Speed of movement is indicated on the Motor Select Screen while the motor
is in motion. Only one motor’s speed can be viewed at a time.
Note: If any fixed speed hoists are selected, all hoists (fixed and variable speed) will
move at approximately 30 fpm, the only speed at which fixed speed hoists can travel.
To alter speed of variable speed hoists, deselect the fixed speed hoists and resume
movement.
To alter speed during movement:
1. Select only variable speed motors.
2. Press and hold the Up or Down button. Selected motors will begin to move.
3. Move the speed slider to adjust the speed of all moving motors:
• Up or to the right to increase speed
• Down or to the left to decrease speed
Stop Motor Movement
To stop any moving motor, release the Up or Down button. If for any reason the motor
does not stop, press the E-stop button.

Chapter 4
Trims
Trims are user-programmable stopping points. If you do not record any trims, the motor will
travel completely between the limits set when the system was commissioned.
QuickTouch+ Mk2 6 Channel and QuickTouch+ Mk2 12 Channel controllers can have up to
five recorded trims for each channel:
• High trim (an upper limit, the highest point the controller allows the motor to reach)
• Three intermediate trims
• Low trim (a lower limit, the lowest point the controller allows the motor to reach)
QuickTouch+ Mk2 1 Channel allows for only one recorded trim.
Manage Trims
Only trained and authorized personnel should record or delete trims.
QuickTouch+ Mk2 6 Channel / 12 Channel
There are two methods for recording and deleting trims on the QT+ MK2 6Ch/12CH
controllers.
Record Trim 2 for One or More Motors
You can use the [Trim/Menu] button to quickly record the current location of a motor as
Trim2. This can be done for more than one motor at a time. Trims recorded using this method
are always stored as Trim 2.

The LCD screen instructs you to hold
motor select buttons.
4. Press and hold the select buttons for all
desired motors for 5 seconds. The LEDs
for those motors will blink white during
this time and a countdown displays on
the LCDscreen.
After 5 seconds, all motors with their select buttons pressed will have their current positions
stored as Trim 2. Pressing [Clear] or releasing the motor select buttons during record will
deselect all motors and abort the record operation.

Trims 13
Record Trims Individually
1. Use the Up or Down button to move your selected motor to the prospective trim
position.
2. With the channel still selected, press the [Trim/Menu] button. The Select Trim dialog
appears.
3. Rotate the [Trim/Menu] button to highlight the desired trim and press the [Trim/Menu]
button to select it. The Trim Option menu appears.
4. Rotate the [Trim/Menu] button to highlight Record Trim and press the [Trim/Menu]
button to select it.
5. Press the [Trim/Menu] button again on the Yes confirmation to record the trim.
Delete Trim 2 for One or More Motors
1. Make sure no channels are selected.
2. Press and release the [Trim/Menu] button.The LCD screen instructs you to hold motor
select buttons.
3. Press and hold the select button for all desired motors for a total of 10 seconds. The first
5 seconds record trim positions. Continue holding the button for another 5 seconds and
the trims will be deleted for all selected motors.
Pressing [Clear] or releasing the motor select buttons during the clear sequence will deselect
all motors and abort the operation.
Delete Trims Individually
1. Select a motor using the channel select buttons.
2. Press the [Trim/Menu]. The Select Trim dialog appears.
3. Rotate the [Trim/Menu] button to highlight the desired trim and press the [Trim/Menu]
button to select it. The Trim Option menu appears.
4. Rotate the [Trim/Menu] button to highlight Delete Trim and press the [Trim/Menu]
button to select it.
5. Press the [Trim/Menu] button again on the Yes confirmation to delete the trim.
QuickTouch+ Mk2 1 Channel
There is only one method each for recording and deleting the trim on the QT+1 Mk2
controller.
Record the Trim
1. Use the Up or Down button to move the motor to the prospective trim position.
2. Press and hold the [Speed/Menu] button for 5 seconds. A countdown displays on the
LCDscreen.
3. After 5 seconds, release the [Speed/Menu] button and the current position is stored as
the trim.

Delete the Trim
1. Press and hold the [Speed/Menu] button for 10 seconds. A countdown displays on the
LCD screen.
2. The first 5 seconds record the trim position. Continue holding the button for another 5
seconds and the trim is deleted.
Delete the Trim
Move to Trims
Motor movement stops when you reach a trim position using the Up and Down
buttons to manually move motors. Release and then press the Up or Down button
again to continue movement past the trim position.
Note: Manual motor movement is the only way to reach the trim set on
QuickTouch+ Mk2 1 Channel controllers.
When the High or Low Trim is reached, motor movement stops and can only resume in the
opposite direction.
Select and Move to a Trim (QT+ MK2 6CH/12CH Only)
Select a motor and press the [Trim/Menu] button to access the Select Trim dialog.
Use this selection dialog to move your motor to a specific trim without stopping at any
intermediate trim positions.
Note: In all scenarios, High and Low trims will halt motor movement in the up and
down directions, respectively.
1. Select a motor using the motor select button.
2. Press the [Trim/Menu] button to access the Select Trim screen.
3. Rotate the [Trim/Menu] button to highlight the desired trim and press the [Trim/Menu]
button to select it. The Trim Option menu appears.
4. By default, the Move to Trim option is highlighted. Press the [Trim/Menu] button to
select it.
Once you have selected a trim, the Motor Status screen appears with only the selected trim
marker present. Press and hold either the Up or Down button to move to the selected
trim.

Load Profiles and Monitoring
Load monitoring allows the system to verify that the correct load is being lifted. If the load is
out of the allowable range, movement is stopped and an error message is displayed on the
LCD.
• When the monitored load is too heavy (i.e, the batten is caught on something while
moving up), upward movement of the motor is disabled. Downward motion is still
permitted, allowing you to relieve the added load.
• If the load is too light (i.e, the batten comes to rest on the scenery while moving down),
downward movement of the motor is disabled. Upward movement is still permitted,
allowing you to lift the batten off of its obstruction.
Note: Regardless of whether load profiling is enabled or not, the system always
monitors the maximum load limit of the motor at all times. If the maximum load limit
is exceeded, upward movement will be stopped. You may then move the motor in the
down direction to remove excess weight.
To monitor the load, a load profile must be learned by the system. This is done by loading the
motor with the desired load and then allowing the system to learn that load. The system can
only learn one load at any given time. There are two methods of recording a load profile:
Quick Learn and Full Profile.
Quick Learn
In most cases the Quick Learn method can be used to record a new load for a lineset. This
method works for all attached loads that do not change weight during movement. A Quick
Learn simply records the static load at one position and the system adjusts any existing profile
to account for the change in static load.
1. Ensure the full static load is supported by the motor and is not
resting on the floor or scenery.
2. Insert a key into the LOAD PROFILE key switch.
3. Turn and hold the key switch to the LEARN position.
4. If your are using a QT+ MK2 6CH/12CH, select the motor for
which you want to record a load profile.
5. Press the [Trim/Menu] button. The load is recorded.
6. Release the key switch and it returns to the RUN position.
7. Remove the key from the key switch or repeat for any other desired
motors.
Full Profile
Full Profile learning records the load along the entire travel range,
allowing for profiling loads that vary based on position (such as stage electrics that gain or lose
the weight of power cables as they travel). Recording a Full Profile involves running the motor
from one limit to the other and back again. Trims are ignored during the process.

1. Insert a key into the LOAD PROFILE key switch.
2. Turn and hold the key switch to the LEARN position. Continue to hold the key in this
position for the entire process.
3. If your are using a QT+ MK2 6CH/12CH, select the motor for which you want to record a
load profile.
4. Press and hold the Up or Down button to move the load to the nearest limit
(upper or lower). Do not release the button until the limit is reached. The load is not
being recorded yet.
5. Once the limit is reached, release the move button.
6. Press the opposite move button to move to the opposite limit. The load is now being
recorded. Do not release the move button until the new limit is reached.
7. Once the new limit is reached, release the move button.
8. Press the original move button again to move back to the opposite limit. The load
continues to be recorded. Do not release the button until the original limit is reached.
9. Once the new limit is reached, release the move button. Recording is complete.
10. Release the key switch and it returns to the RUN position.
11. Remove the key from the key switch or repeat for any other desired motors.
Note: After removing a load from the batten that significantly changes the weight
during movement, a full profile should be recorded to allow the lineset to function
with normal loads and to facilitate Quick Learn profiles again.
Enable Load Monitoring
Load monitoring can be enabled or disabled for each motor individually.
CAUTION: Enabling load monitoring for a motor that does not have a load
profile of the current load recorded may result in a false load error.
If you accidentally select a motor that has an incorrect profile, either record a
new profile or disable load monitoring for that motor and the error will be
removed.
1. Insert a key into the LOAD PROFILE key switch.
2. Turn and hold the key switch to the ON-OFF position. Motors with
load monitoring enabled are indicated with green LEDs. Motors
with load monitoring disabled are indicated with yellow LEDs.
3. Press the select button for any motor to change the state of load
monitoring (the following image shows 1–5 disabled and 6–12
enabled).

4. Release the key switch and it returns to the RUN position.
5. Remove the key from the key switch.
