1.Checkthevoltageofthebatterywithadigital
voltmeter.Locatethevoltagereadingofthebattery
inthetablebelowandchargethebatteryforthe
recommendedtimeintervaltobringthechargeup
toafullchargeof12.6voltsorgreater.
Important:Makesurethenegativebattery
cableisdisconnectedandthebatterycharger
usedforchargingthebatteryhasanoutputof
16voltsand7ampsorlesstoavoiddamaging
thebattery(seechartforrecommendedcharger
settings).

connectthepositive(red)cabletothepositive
batteryterminalrst,thenthenegative(black)cable
tothenegativebatteryterminal.Slipinsulatorboot
overthepositiveterminal.
Note:Iftimedoesnotpermitchargingthebattery,
orifchargingequipmentisnotavailable,connect
thenegativebatterycablesandrunthevehicle
continuouslyfor20to30minutestosufciently
chargethebattery.
ServicingtheEngine
Theengineisshippedwithoil;checkoillevelandif
necessarylltotheappropriatelevel.Exmark4-Cycle
PremiumEngineOilisrecommended;refertothe
EngineOwner'smanualforanappropriateAPIrating
andviscosity.
RemovingCylinderStop
Thetinesmustbeintheraisedpositionbeforeremoving
thecylinderstop.Runningtheenginewillchargethe
hydraulicsystemandraisethetines.
1.Addasmallamountoffueltothefueltank.SeeFuel
RecommendationsintheSpecicationssectionof
theOperator’smanual.
2.Openthefuelshut-offvalvebyaligningitwiththe
fuelline.
3.Leavethemotioncontrolleversinneutraland
engagetheparkingbrake.

4.Placethethrottlemidwaybetweenthe“SLOW”and
“FAST”positions.
5.Pushthechokeleverforwardintothe“ON”
position.
6.Turnignitionswitchtothe“START”position.
Releasetheswitchassoonastheenginestarts.
Important:DoNotcranktheengine
continuouslyformorethantensecondsata
time.Iftheenginedoesnotstart,allowa60
secondcool-downperiodbetweenstarting
attempts.Failuretofollowtheseguidelinescan
burnoutthestartermotor.
7.Graduallyreturnthechoketothe“OFF”position
astheenginewarmsup.Allowtheenginetorunan
additional30seconds,thenturntheignitionswitch
tothe“OFF”positiontostoptheengine.
8.Removethekeyandpullthewire(s)offthespark
plug(s).Pushthewire(s)asidesoitdoesnot
accidentallycontactthesparkplug(s).
9.Removeandretainthehairpin,clevispin,and
cylinderstopasshowninFigure1.

10.Replacethesparkplug(s)wire(s).
ServicingtheTransmission
HydraulicOil
Themachineisshippedwithhydraulicoilinthe
reservoir.
1.Runthemachineforapproximately15minutesto
allowanyextraairtopurgeoutofthehydraulic
system.
2.Withtheunitcold,checktheexpansiontankandif
necessaryaddExmarkPremiumHydroOiltothe
FULLCOLDline.
3.Replacehydraulicreservoircapandtightenuntil
snug.DoNotovertighten.
ServicingtheAuxiliaryHydraulic
Oil
Themachineisshippedwithhydraulicoilinthe
reservoir.
1.Runthemachineforapproximately15minutesto
allowanyextraairtopurgeoutofthehydraulic
system.
2.Completelyraiseandlowertinesthreetimestopurge
theair.
3.Checkhydraulicreservoirandifnecessaryllthe
reservoirtotheappropriatelevelwithAW–32hydro
oil.
4.Replacehydraulicreservoircapandtightenuntil
snug.DoNotovertighten.
Note:Thebafeislabeled“HOT”and“COLD”.
Theoillevelvarieswiththetemperatureoftheoil.
The“HOT”levelshowsthelevelofoilwhenitisat
225°F(107°C).The“COLD”levelshowsthelevelof
theoilwhenitisat75°F(24°C).Filltotheappropriate
leveldependinguponthetemperatureoftheoil.For
example:Iftheoilisabout150°F(65°C).Filltohalfway
betweenthe“HOT”and“COLD”levels.Iftheoilisat
roomtemperature(about75°F(24°C)),llonlytothe
“COLD”level.
