1.Makesureallmovingpartshavestopped,
parkingbrakeisengaged,andthekeyhasbeen
removed.
2.Raisethefrontofthemachineandsupportwith
jackstands.
CAUTION
Raisingthemowerdeckforservice
ormaintenancerelyingsolelyon
mechanicalorhydraulicjackscouldbe
dangerous.Themechanicalorhydraulic
jacksmaynotbeenoughsupportor
maymalfunctionallowingtheunittofall,
whichcouldcauseinjury.
DoNotrelysolelyonmechanical
orhydraulicjacksforsupport.Use
adequatejackstandsorequivalent
support.
3.Flipupthedischargedeector.Ifthemowerhas
beenused,scrapeundersideofmowerdeck
clean.
4.Removeandretaintheexistingbladesfromthe
unit.Keephardwaretoinstallthemulchblades.
5.Removeandretainthedoglegdischargebafe
(seeFigure2)anditshardwarefromthedeck.
Installthehardwarebackintothetopholewhere
thedoglegdischargebafewasremoved.
6.Installthenewleftandrightmulchingbafes
andtheblockerbafeusingthehardwareshown
inFigure2.Ifexistinghardwareonthedeck
interfereswiththeinstallation,removeand
retaintoreplugtheholeswhenthemulchkitis
removed.
7.Installthecoverplatetotherightsideofdeck
usingthehardwareshowninFigure2.Install
boltswithheadstooutsideofdeck.
8.Installnewmulchingbladesinplaceofexisting
blades.Torquebladeboltto55-60ft-lb(75-81
N-m).
WARNING
Incorrectinstallationofthebladeor
componentsusedtoretainthebladecan
bedangerous.Failuretousealloriginal
componentsandassembledasshown
couldallowabladeorbladecomponent
tobethrownoutfromunderthedeck
resultinginseriouspersonalinjuryor
death.
AlwaysinstalltheoriginalExmarkblades
andbladeretaininghardwareasshown
intheOperator’smanual.
9.Install5/16-18x5/8inchhexheadcapscrew
withwhizlocknutbackintoholeintopofdeck
wheredischargebafewasremoved.Allopen
holesintopofdecknotcoveredbyshields
mustbepluggedtopreventsandorothersmall
objectsfrombeingthrownupthroughdeck.
10.Tightenallhardware.
11.Carefullyremovethejackstandsandlowerthe
machinetotheground.

RemovingtheMulchKit
(ForSerialNos.315,000,000
andHigher)
Toconvertthedeckbacktosidedischarge:
1.Stopengineandwaitforallmovingpartsto
stop,engageparkingbrake,removekey,and
disconnectthenegativebatterycable.
2.Removemulchingbafes,blockerbafe,and
coverplate.
3.Installdoglegdischargebafethatwasremoved
instep5ofInstallingtheMulchKit(ForSerial
Nos.315,000,000andHigher).
4.Replacethemulchingbladeswithstandard
blades.
5.Install5/16-18x5/8inchhexheadcapscrew
andwhizlocknutintheholeontopofthedeck
withtheboltheadunderneath.Allopenholes
notcoveredbybeltshieldsmustbepluggedto
preventsandorothersmallobjectsfrombeing
thrownupthroughthedeck.
6.Flipdownthedischargedeector.
DANGER
Anuncovereddischargeopening
willallowobjectstobethrowninan
operator'sorbystander'sdirection.Also,
contactwiththebladecouldoccur.
Thrownobjectsorbladecontactcan
causeseriousinjuryordeath.
Neveroperatethemowerwiththeside
dischargedoorraised,removed,or
alteredunlessthereisadischarge
deectorandmulchpluginplaceand
workingproperly.

1.Makesureallmovingpartshavestopped,

3.Flipupdischargedeector.Ifmowerhasbeen
used,scrapeundersideofmowerdeckclean.
RemovethedischargedeectoronLazerZ
HP’sorLazerZCT’s.
4.Removethedoglegdischargebafe(seeFigure
3).
5.Firstremovetheboltusedtoplugtheholein
thetopofthedeckwhenmulchingbafesare
notinstalled.Installnewmulchingbafesand
blockerbafe,Items1,2,and11.Referto
Figure3forlocation.Usehardwareasshown.
6.Installcoverplate,Item3,toholesinrightside
ofdeck.RefertoFigure3.Installboltswith
headstooutsideofdeck.
7.Installnewmulchingbladesinplaceofexisting
blades.Useblackbladesonmowerswith5/8
inchbladebolt,S/N539,999&below.Torque
bladeboltto115-120ft-lb.Useredbladeson
mowerswith1/2inchbladeboltandsplined
spacer.T orquebladeboltto115-120ft-lb.
WARNING
Incorrectinstallationofthebladeor
componentsusedtoretainthebladecan
bedangerous.Failuretousealloriginal
componentsandassembledasshown
couldallowabladeorbladecomponent
tobethrownoutfromunderthedeck
resultinginseriouspersonalinjuryor
death.
AlwaysinstalltheoriginalExmarkblades
andbladeretaininghardwareasshown
intheOperator’smanual.
8.Install5/16x5/8hexheadcapscrewwith
whizlocknutbackintoholeintopofdeckwhere
doglegdischargebafewasremoved.Allopen
holesintopofdecknotcoveredbyshields
mustbepluggedtopreventsandorothersmall
objectsfrombeingthrownupthroughdeck.
9.Tightenallhardware.
10.Carefullyremovethejackstandsandlowerthe
machinetotheground.

Toconvertthedeckbacktosidedischarge:

4.Replacethemulchingbladeswithstandard
blades.
5.Install5/16x5/8hexheadcapscrewand
whizlocknutintheholeontopofthedeckwith
theboltheadunderneath.Allopenholesnot
coveredbybeltshieldsmustbepluggedto
preventsandorothersmallobjectsfrombeing
thrownupthroughthedeck.
6.Flipdownthedischargedeector.ForLazer
ZHPandLazerZCTmachines,installthe
dischargedeectorandipdown.
DANGER
Anuncovereddischargeopening
willallowobjectstobethrowninan
operator'sorbystander'sdirection.Also,
contactwiththebladecouldoccur.
Thrownobjectsorbladecontactcan
causeseriousinjuryordeath.
Neveroperatethemowerwiththeside
dischargedoorraised,removed,or
alteredunlessthereisadischarge
deectorandmulchpluginplaceand
workingproperly.
