1.Doorclosing:Theclosingofthedooriscontrolledbythetwohingelinksandthetwostopscrews(see
Figure29).Thestopscrewsshouldbeadjustedsothatbothwillbecontactedwhenthecontactingarmis
straightupanddown.Withthestopscrewsadjusted,thelengthofthehingelinkscanbechangedtoprovide
completeclosingofthedoor,andreasonableforceonthehandletolatchorunlatchthedoor.Lengthenthe
linkstoreducetheforce.Shortenthelinkstoincreasetheforce.Withthedoorclosed,bothlinksshouldbe
slightlytighttominimizerattling.
2.Dooropening:Afteradjustingthehingelinksfordoorclosing,thehandlelinkcanbeadjustedtoobtain
maximumdooropening(seeFigure29).Lengthenthelinktoopenthedoorfarther.Shortenthelinktoopen
thedoorless.Themaximumdooropeningislimitedbythecontactingarmhittingthestop.Thisstopisnon
adjustable,andpreventsoveropeningdamagefromoccurringtothelinkage.
3.Latches:Oncetheopenandclosedpositionshavebeenset,thelatchescanbeadjusted(seeFigure29).Withthe
doorclosed,thelatchlinkshouldbesetsothatthelatchplatecompletelyengagesandcontactsthelatchrod
weldedtothedoor.Thelatchplatesshouldnotbetightagainstthelatchrod.Theyshouldeasily“wiggle”.
