Chapter1IntroducingtheFB2652System
Overview
The FB2652 is an embedded system with 5.1/2" low-power Pentium-M CPU module
inside. This user’s manual provides information on the physical features, installation,
and BIOS setup of the FB2652.
Built to unleash the total potential of the Pentium-M or Celeron-M Processor, Able
to support 600MHz ~ 1.4Ghz CPUs, this system supports two 10/100/1000M Base –TX
LAN ports, DDRAM up to 1GB and a onboard VGA port up to 32MB share memory
that can support CRT and LVDS LCD’s and CRT’s simultaneously or independently,
mini PCI socket for wireless LAN, Four USB2.0 ports.
Each FB2652 has one port for I/O communications. Two RS-232C ports are available.
Power management is also featured to lower the rate of consumption. The unit
supports doze mode, <Suspend Mode> and <Standby mode> as well as it adheres
to the “Green Function” standard.
The FB2652 is perfect for POS and POI applications, network systems, panel / MMI’s,
order entry kiosks, test equipment, OEM projects or as a motherboard for a panel
PC and small Embedded Control. The unit is only 146.0mm(D) X 203.0mm(W).

Upon receiving the package, verify the following things. Should any of the
mentioned happens, contact us for immediate service.
• Unpack and inspect the FB2652 package for possible damage that may
occur during the delivery process.
• Verify the accessories in the package according to the packing list and see
if there is anything missing or incorrect package is included.
• If the cable(s) you use to install the FB2652 is not supplied from us, please
make sure the specification of the cable(s) is compatible with the FB2652
system.
Note: after you install the FB2652, it is recommended that you keep the diskette or
CD that contains drivers and document files, and keep the document
copies, or unused cables in the carton for future use.
The following lists the accessories that may be included in your FB2652 package.
Some accessories are optional items that are only shipped upon order.
• One FB2652 all-In-One CPU board.
• One 40-pin hard disk driver interface cable.
• One compact disc includes software utility.

Chapter2HardwareInstallation
This chapter introduces the system connectors & jumper settings, and guides you to
apply them for field application.
BeforeInstallation
Before you install the system board, make sure you follow the following descriptions.
1. Before removing the board from its anti-static bag, wear an anti-static strap to
prevent the generation of Electricity Static Discharge (ESD). The ESD may be
created from human body that touches the board. It may do damage to the
board circuit.
2. Install or unplug any connector, or module, add-on card, be sure that the
power is disconnected from the system board. If not, this may damage the
system board components, module, or the add-on-card.
3. Installing a heat sink and cooling fan is necessary for heat dissipation from your
CPU. If heat sink or cooling fan is not mounted, this may cause the CPU fail due
to over-heating problem.
4. When you connect the connectors and memory modules, be careful with the
pin orientations.

 J2: CPU Fan Connector
J2 is a 3-pin Molex connector and which is reserved to drive CPU cooling fan when
non-low power CPU are used.

 J1: External Power/LAN/GPIO LED’s Indicators & Temp/Reset/PWR-SW Header
The Power and HDD LED’s has two distinctive status: Off for inactive operation and
blinking light for activity. And the J1 (5,6 pin (LED1+/LED1-) and 7,8 pin (LED2+/LED2-)
for LAN ports. The LAN1 and LAN2 LED’s indicate on-line/access status of LAN1 and
LAN2 respectively.

1. The J1 pin 11,12 is a 2-pin for connecting Resistive Temperature Sensor input
header and pin 13,14 is a 2-pin for connecting to system reset bottom. It is cause
hardware reset of FB2652 and restart system booting.

2. The J1 pin 15,16 is a 2 pin connecting to PWE-SW; It’s Pushing the PWE-SW button
once will switch the FB2652 on and off. It’s depending on system BIOS (Power
Management Setup) or OS setting. Pushing the power button while in the on
mode for more than 4 seconds will turn the system off.

 CN5: Connecting the Keyboard and Mouse
The CN5 down side connector (Purple) can attach standard PS/2 type keyboard
and up side (Green) can attached PS/2 mouse. Standard PS/2 keyboard and
Mouse can be plugged into this connector without any adapter cable.

 CN6: Connecting the COM ports and Parallel Port
The CN6 DB9 (COM1/2) is standard serial port connector. The following tables
show the signal connections of these connectors. Serial port 2 is designed for
multiple proposes. Use JP1 selects the RS-232, RS422 or RS-485.

The CN6 printer port is standard DB25 connector.
 CN8 & CN9: Connecting the L1/L2 LAN ports and USB Ports
The RJ45 connector with 2 LED’s for WAN/LAN. The left side LED (orange) indicates
data is being accessed and the right side LED (green) indicates on-line status. (On
indicates on-line and off indicates off-line)
The following lists the pin assignment of RJ45.
The FB2652 supports a four port USB connector. Any USB device can be attached to
USB ports with plug-and-play supported. The left side port is USB # 1/2 and the right side
port is USB # 3/4

 J4: CMOS Data Clear Jumper
You can use J4 to clear CMOS data. The CMOS store information like system date,
time, boot up device, password, IRQ… that are set up with the BIOS. To clear the
CMOS, set J4 jumper 1-2 close and then remove jumper 1-2.

CN1 is 40-pin 2.54mm IDC connectors. The IDE interface has one enhanced IDE
channels and supports 2 IDE devices.
