Chapter1IntroducingtheFB2402CPUCard
Overview
The FB2402 is a Vortex86DX3 Low power processor, all in one CPU board. This user’s
manual provides information on the physical features, installation, and BIOS setup.
Built to unleash the total potential of the Vortex86DX3 Processor, the FB2402 is a
single board computer capable of handling today’s demanding requirements.
Able to support 1000 MHz CPU, this unit supports 10/100/1000 interface network
port, on board 512MB DDR3 RAM, four USB2.0 ports, and a VGA controller.
Each FB2402 has four ports for I/O communications. Three RS232 and one RS-232
/RS-422/RS485 ports are available. There are supports watchdog timers that can
be configured from software to automatically reset the system. And for easy
configuration, AMI BIOS are available.
The FB2402 is perfect for POS and POI applications, network systems, panel / MMI’s,
order entry kiosks, test equipment, OEM projects or as a motherboard for a panel
PC. The unit is only 185X122mm, offering unparalleled performance in a very small
footprint.

PackingList
Upon receiving the package, verify the following things. If any of the mentioned
happens, contact us for immediate service.
•Unpack and inspect the FB2402 package for possible damage that may
occur during the delivery process.
•Verify the accessories in the package according to the packing list and see
if there is anything missing or incorrect package is included.
•If the cable(s) you use to install the FB2402 is not supplied from us, please
make sure the specification of the cable(s) is compatible with the FB2402
system.
Note: After FB2402 is installed, it is recommended that you keep the diskette or
CD that contains drivers and document files, and keep the document
copies, or unused cables in the carton for future use.
The following list the accessories that may be included in your FB2402 package.
Some of the accessories are optional shipped only upon order.
•One FB2402x All-In-One ISA CPU card.
•One serial port interface cable with bracket
•One compact disc containing manual file in PDF format and necessary
drivers and utilities.
Optional:
•Y-type keyboard and mouse port adapter cables. (P/N: 7003000008G)
•One dual USB adapter cable with bracket. (P/N: 7002020003G)

Chapter2HardwareInstallation
This chapter introduces the system connectors & jumper settings, and guides you to
apply them for field application.
BeforeInstallation
Before you install the system, make sure you follow the below descriptions.
1. Before removing the board from its anti-static bag, wear an anti-static strap to
prevent the generation of Electricity Static Discharge (ESD). The ESD may be
generated by man’s physical touch. It may do damage to the board circuit.
2. Install any connector, module, or add on board, be sure that the power is
disconnected from the system board. If not, this may damage the system
board components, module, or the add-on-board.
3. When you connect the connectors and memory modules, be careful with the
pin orientations.

The RJ45 connector with 2 LED’s for LAN. The up side LED (orange) indicates data is
being accessed and the down side LED (green) indicates on-line status. (On
indicates on-line and off indicates off-line)

CN12 is a standard PS/2 type keyboard connector and any PS/2 type keyboard
can plug into CN12 directly without extra adapter cable. Use the keyboard +
mouse adapter cable (optional), you can connect keyboard and mouse
simultaneously. CN13 is another way to attach keyboard and mouse with optional
adapter cable.

J2 & J3: USB Port & Connector Header
The CPU card supports four USB port. Any USB device can be attached to USB ports
with plug-and-play supported, J2 and J3 are 10-pin connectors. Use the inclued
USB adapter cable and (or) FB4706 Audio board (Option) can attach up to 4 USB
devices.

The DB2 connector on bracket is 9-pin D-type male connector. The serial port 2, 3, 4
adapter cables are used to transfer 10-pin IDC connector into standard DB9

¾Serial Port 2 (CN4, JP6 & JP1)
The Serial port 2 (CN4) is designed for multiple proposes. It could be RS-232, RS-422
or RS-485 by BIOS CMOS setting or JP6, and use JP1 (1-2 pin close) to enable or
disable (2-3 pin close) terminator if RS-485 mode is selected.

CF1 & JP5: Compact Flash Socket and Master/Slave Select
The Compact Flash socket CF1 (on the solder side) is optional and supports
Compact Flash module and Micro Drives. JP5 (on the top side) is used to select
master/slave device of this socket. When set the Master of CF1 and the onboard
NAND flash is slave of IDE.

Note: The Compact Flash socket supports Compact Flash module and Micro
Drives. The JP5 is used to select master/slave device of this socket and the
default is Master (2, 3 close by jumper). Be sure not to set the Master / Slave to
the same, if use the compact flash and on board NAND flash memory
simultaneously.

J4: Power/LAN LED’s Indicators & Reset/Speaker Header
The Power LED and HDD LED, these have two distinctive statuses: Off for inactive
operation and blinking light for activity. The Reset/GND 2-pin header for
connecting to system reset button. Shorting the circuit of the 2 pins makes the
hardware reset and FB2402 restart system.

Note: Be careful with the pin orientation when installing power connector. A wrong
connection can easily destroy your FB2402 board.
FB2402 needs +5V only, +12V are not necessary.
