2. Constr uction
This screwdriver is an electric tool of class III without e art h wire
an _d is in accordance with the VDE regulations 0740. Th e motor
housing is mad e of shockproof a nd g la ss fibr e s tr eng th ened Poly-
amid e. Th e machine is ra di o supp ressed acco rdin g to radio inter-
ference V
DE 0875.
The machine is supplied w ith a tw o- c ore cable without ea rth wire
and must not be earthed . The machine is provided with a reversing
switch for clockwise and anticlockwise rotation. It mu st not be
operated when the machine is runnin g.

5. Maintenance and lubrication.
4. Adjustment
of the Torque
The screwdriv er c an be adjusted for three ranges of torque (s ee
tabl e) by simply exchanging th e pr ess ur e s pring (57). For ex ch ang-
ing
the pressure sprin g onl y un sc r ew th e thre e sc rews (66). F irst
relieve th e stre~s of th e adju st in g ri ng (64)! By turn ing the adjusting
rin g (64) th e re quir ed to rqu e is a dju sted by means of th e pr ess ur e
s
prin g (57) infin i tel y va r ia bl e wi thin a range of to r qu e.

Before carrying out any maintenance work always remember
to pull out the plug.
Aft er ch ecking the ca rb on brushes che ck that th ey mo ve easily in
th e ir holder. Th ey sho uld be re plac ed at th e latest whe n th ey h ave
worn dow n to 5 mm (3/ 1o"). Pl ease, o nl y use original Fein ca rb on
bru sh es ( Ord er Reference EZ 11 -66). Afte r fitting new bru sh es
run to ol unl oa d ed for about 15 m inu tes to a ll ow brush es to bed in .
Pl ease, do not forget to reorder them in time.

To replace the cable, take off the suspension ring (22), the screws
(19, 20), then
take off the housing cover (18), loosen the two
screws (17) of the terminal clamp (16) and clamp off the cable
from
the switch (8).
We recommend to renew the gear grease
after approx. 300 duty
hours. Please, only use the Fein special grease Sst 1. Quantity of
grease 5 g.
Order reference for tube with 40 g (11 /a oz) is MZ 60-2/Sst 1.
After 900 duty hours the machine should be completely dismantled
as described under paragraph 6 and all parts should be thoroug hly
cleaned. Rinse ball bearings and gears in clean solvent a nd pack
with fresh grease Sst 1.
The space between inner and outer rings is to be one third filled
with grease Sst 1 in order to prevent overheating
of the bearings.
Please be sure that all electric parts are only cleaned dry.
No claims can be entertained for damage due to negligent main-
tenance
and inadequate lubrication.
6. Dismantling
The tool should only be taken apart by an expert; first relieve
stresses
of adjusting ring (64).
1. Remove cover sheet (21), unscrew carbon brushes (5), release
suspension ring (22).
2. Unscrew screws (19), (20)
and remove housing cover ( 18 ).
3. Loosen 8 fillister screws (70).
4. Remove assembled outer bearing (32 -66) and pull out counter-
shaft pinion (39-40). Please, pa y attention to driving plate (41).
5. Take out assembled lever (11-12 a) with leaf spring (13).
6.
Draw out intermediate bearing (30) as well as assembled arma-
ture (25-28) and air guiding ring.
7. Dismantle assembled pole housing (6)
by pushing the housing
face against a
wood plate. Loosen first soldering points of the
winding ends on the reversing switch (9).
Re-assemble in reverse sequence. Please, bear in
mind that the
driving plate (41) is to be placed in the right place.
7. Repair
and Spare Parts
We recommend
our Fein Service Stations for carrying out all over-
haul and repa ir wor k quickly and expertly.
When ordering spare parts, please, quote order reference or
send in sample part, stating the type of the machine.
We
draw your attention to the need to car ry out a high-voltage test
in accordance
with your local regulatio~s (or to VDE regulation
0740) before taking a tool into service again after any repair carried
out by your own staff.
