2.1 Safety instructions
– Take into consideration the legal regulations for the respective destination.

2.2 Intended Use
The product described in this document is intended only for use in an automation system CPX-AP.
Use the product only as follows:
– Use only in an industrial environment. Outside industrial environments, e.g.in commercial and
residential/mixed-use areas, it may be necessary to take measures to suppress radio interference.
– Use only in combination with modules and components that are permissible for the respective

– Only use the product if it is in perfect technical condition.
2.3 Training of qualified personnel
Installation, commissioning, maintenance and disassembly should only be conducted by qualified per-

5 Product overview
5.1 Function
The module provides four analogue input channels for the connection of sensors in an automation
system CPX-AP and thus enables the recording and further processing of analogue input signals.
The module behaviour can be set using parameters. The four input channels can also be paramet-
erised channel by channel as current input, voltage input or as input for temperature or resistance
measurement è 10 Parameterisation.
The module analyses the analogue measured values depending on the signal range that is used and
returns the result as a digital value for further processing.
Status and error messages are indicated by LED displays on the module and reported to the interface
via system communication.
The sensor supply has an electronic fuse for protection against short circuit or overload. If this fuse
responds, the sensor supply of the module is switched off and the error is shown by an LED indicator
on the module. The module automatically checks at a certain interval whether the overload is still
present. To do this, the sensor supply is switched on briefly and switched off again in the event of an
error. The electronic fuse of the module is a slow-blow type. Sensors can therefore also be connected
with a temporarily higher current requirement.

6.5 Linear scaling
With linear scaling, the measured value can be scaled to any value.
The linear scaling of the measured values can be activated independently for each channel via para-
meter 20111 è 10 Parameterisation. The specification of the upper and lower limit values defines the
scaling end values of the nominal range.
If linear scaling is activated, the limit value diagnostics is not available.

6.5.1 Scaling for compatibility with other CPX analogue modules
If a CPX terminal is to be replaced by an automation system CPX-AP, the analogue module CPX-AP can
be set compatible by the following parameterisation.
1. Activate linear scaling for one or more channels.
2. Select the appropriate signal range.
3. Set limit values dependent on the signal range to the following values:
Unipolar signal ranges:
– Lower limit: 0
– Upper limit: 27648
Bipolar signal ranges:
– Lower limit: –27648
– Upper limit: 27648
As a result, a new module behaves like an earlier module and no changes to the controller are neces-
sary.

6.6 Hysteresis for measured value monitoring
The diagnostics for measured value monitoring (limit value, signal range) are provided with hysteresis.
Hysteresis avoids repeated diagnostic messages if the measured value is within the limits of the dia-
gnostic thresholds.
The diagnostic messages behave as follows with a defined hysteresis:
– Limit monitoring:
The diagnostic message is only sent if the defined lower or upper limit is below or exceeded by
one half of the hysteresis value. The diagnostic message is sent if the lower or upper limit is again
below or exceeded by one half of the hysteresis value.
– Signal range monitoring:
The diagnostic message is issued immediately, without the measured value being exceeded by
half the hysteresis. The diagnostic message is cancelled if the signal range again exceeds or is
below by one half of the hysteresis value.
The hysteresis is set via parameter 20046 è 10 Parameterisation.
The set hysteresis value corresponds to the entire positive and negative hysteresis range, i.e. a value
of 100 means measured value ±50.
The hysteresis value is converted as follows depending on the signal range:
– Voltage measurement:
A hysteresis value Z1mV, that is, a value of 100 means 100mV hysteresis.
– Current measurement:
A hysteresis value Z0.001mA, i.e. a value of 100 means 0.1mA hysteresis.
– Resistance measurement:
A hysteresis value Z0.1Ω, i.e. a value of 100 means 10Ωhysteresis.
