1.4 Product labelling
The product labelling is located on the left-hand side of the module. Scanning the printed Data Matrix
Code with an appropriate device opens the Festo Support Portal, with the information appropriate for
the product. Alternatively, the Product Key (11-digit alphanumeric code on the product labelling) can
be entered in the search field of the Support Portal èwww.festo.com/sp.

– The unit shall be supplied by a power source which fulfils the requirements on a limited-energy
circuit in accordance to IEC/EN/UL/CSA 61010-1 or on a Limited Power Source (LPS) in accord-
ance to IEC/EN/UL/CSA 60950-1 or IEC/EN/UL/CSA 62368-1 or a Class 2 circuit in accordance to
NEC or CEC.
2 Function
2.1 General
A digital output module provides digital outputs to connect electrical consumers. Valves, contactors or
display components, for example, can therefore be actuated with a voltage of 24VDC. Status and
error messages can be shown by LED indicators on the module. The module behaviour can be set
using parameters è 3 Parameterisation.
The power supply of the outputs is electronically protected from short circuit or overload. If this fuse is
tripped, the power supply of the output is switched off and the error is shown by an LED on the mod-
ule.
After the elimination of the short circuit or the overload, the power supply is not switched on again
until after the output is reset (default). This behaviour can be adjusted by parameters. The power sup-
ply of this output is then reactivated automatically without requiring reset of the output.
The electronic fuse of the module is slow-blowing. Electrical consumers with a temporarily higher cur-
rent requirement can therefore also be connected.

3 Parameterisation
3.1 Overview of parameters
Module parameters are available to adapt the module to the operating situation. General settings that
affect the entire module are made using these parameters.

3.2 Module parameters
3.2.1 Diagnostics of short circuit at output
The "Diagnostics of short circuit at output" parameter defines whether the diagnostics of the outputs
in regard to short circuit or overload should be activated or deactivated.
When the diagnostics are activated, the error will be sent to the bus module and displayed on the
module by the error LED.

3.2.2 Diagnostics of undervoltage in load supply
The "Diagnostics of undervoltage at load supply" parameter defines if the diagnostics for the load
supply must be activated or deactivated with regard to undervoltage.
When the diagnostics are activated, the error will be sent to the bus module and displayed on the
module by the error LED.

3.2.3 Behaviour after SCO
The "Behaviour after SCO" parameter defines whether the voltage remains switched off or automatic-
ally switches on again after a short circuit or overload at the outputs.
In the case of the "Leave power switched off" setting, the CPX-E automation system must be switched
off and on or the corresponding output must be reset and to restore the power.
