•Any responsibility is lapsed if the instructions and procedures as described in this manual

•LIFE SUPPORT APPLICATIONS: The F133-P is not designed for use in life support
appliances, devices, or systems where malfunction of the product can reasonably be
expected to result in a personal injury. Customers using or selling these products for use
in such applications do so at their own risk and agree to fully indemnify the manufacturer
and supplier for any damages resulting from such improper use or sale.
•Electro static discharge does inflict irreparable damage to electronics! Before installing or
opening the F133-P, the installer has to discharge himself by touching a well-grounded
object.
•The F133-P must be installed in accordance with the EMC guidelines (Electro Magnetic
Compatibility).
•Connect a proper grounding to the metal enclosure as indicated if the F133-P has an
incoming power or signal line which carries a hazardous live voltage.
The Protective Earth (PE) wire may never be disconnected or removed.
•Intrinsically Safe applications: follow the instructions as mentioned in Chapter 5.

▪The daily use of the unit is described in chapter 2 "Operation". These instructions are meant for
users.
▪The following chapters and appendices are exclusively meant for electricians/technicians. These
provide a detailed description of all software settings and hardware installation guidance.
This manual describes the standard unit as well as the available options. For additional information,
please contact your supplier.

1 INTRODUCTION
1.1 SYSTEM DESCRIPTION OF THE F133-P
Functions and features
The delivery controller / dispenser model F133-P is a microprocessor driven instrument designed for
the delivery of beforehand unknown quantities as well as displaying the flow rate, the delivered total
and the delivered accumulated total. This product has been designed with a focus on:
▪ultra-low power consumption to allow long-life battery powered applications (type PB/PC)
▪intrinsic safety for use in hazardous applications (type XI)
▪several mounting possibilities with aluminum or GRP enclosures for harsh industrial
surroundings
▪ability to process all types of flowmeter signals
▪transmitting possibilities with analog, pulse and communication outputs.
Flowmeter input
This manual describes the unit with a pulse input from the flowmeter.
One flowmeter with a passive or active pulse, Namur or sine wave (coil) signal output can be
connected to the F133-P. To power the sensor, several options are available.
Standard outputs
▪Two passive transistor or relay outputs to control a pump and a valve.

Configuration of the F133-P
The F133-P is designed for use in many types of applications. For that reason, a setup menu is
available to program the F133-P according to your specific requirements.
The setup includes several important features, such as K-Factors, engineering units, signal
selection, power management (to extend battery life-time), etc. All settings are stored in a non-
volatile memory and therefore kept in the event of a power failure or an exhausted battery.
Display information
The unit has a LCD with (optional) backlight to show the process information, status and alarm
messages. The display refresh rate is programmed in the setup menu.
At a key press, the display refresh rate will switch to FAST for 30 seconds. When 'OFF' is selected,
the display goes off after 30 seconds after the last key press. The display temporarily comes on after
a key press.
A backup of the total and accumulated total in EEPROM memory is made every minute.
Options
The following options are available: full Modbus communication RS232/485/TTL (also battery
powered), intrinsic safety, mechanical relay or active output, power- and sensor-supply options,
panel-mount, wall-mount and weather-proof enclosures, flame proof enclosure and LED backlight.

2 OPERATIONAL
2.1 GENERAL INFORMATION
This chapter describes the daily use of the F133-P. This instruction is meant for users / operators.
•This device may only be operated by persons who are authorized and trained by the
operator of the facility. All instructions in this manual are to be observed.
•Take careful notice of the "Safety rules, instructions and precautionary measures" in the
front of this manual.
2.2 CONTROL PANEL
The control panel has three keys. The following keys are available:

Functions of the keys
This key is used to program and save new values or settings.
The PROG/ENTER key is also used to gain access to the setup menu (read
chapter 3).
This key is used to START the batch process.
The START/key is also used to increase a value after the PROG/ENTER key has
been pressed (read chapter 3).
This key is used to pause or stop the batch process. When the batch process is
stopped, it cannot be continued. The STOP/key is also used to select the total and
the accumulated total.
The STOP/key is also used to select a digit or an option after the PROG/ENTER
key has been pressed (read chapter 3).
2.3 OPERATOR INFORMATION AND FUNCTIONS
In general, the F133-P operates in the operator mode. The shown information depends on the
settings which are made in the setup menu.
The signal from the connected sensor is processed by the F133-P in the background, independent
from the selected display refresh rate.
When READY is shown, the data of the last delivery is shown, and the following functions are
available.
▪Start-up the delivery
When you press the "START" key, the F133-P initiates a new delivery, the "RUN" indicator
comes on and temporarily the total shows "8888888" and the flow rate "88888". Depending on
the setup of the F133-P, relays are switched to start the pump(s) and to open the valve(s). In the
software, a timer is started to monitor the flow rate.
When a flow is detected, the delivery will start and the total and the flow rate show the actual
status.
When the flow rate is not sufficient, the delivery will not start and the Alarm indicator comes on,
the total shows "0000000" and the flow rate shows "not started". The startup sequence is
stopped.

▪Interrupt the delivery (when RUN is shown)
After the startup sequence is completed, the dispense sequence becomes active. During the
dispense sequence you can interrupt the delivery temporarily with the STOP command. The
"PAUSE" indicator comes on and an internal restart timer is started. Note that the pump stays on
and the valve is closed. The delivery is continued when the restart timer still active and the
START command is given. When the restart timer is lapsed, the delivery is stopped
automatically.
▪Batch-total
To display the batch-total, use the STOP button. This quantity equals the accumulated delivered
quantity (from the START moment till the READY moment) and cannot be initialized by the
operator. It will count up to 9999999.
Press STOP a few times to return to the main display information.
▪Batch-counter
To display the batch-counter, press STOP again. This counter displays the number of deliveries
that have been made successfully and cannot be initialized by the operator. It will count up to
9999999.
Press STOP a few times to return to the main display information.
▪Display Total and accumulated Total
Press STOP to display the Total and Accumulated Total. These totalizers do count the
flowmeters signal continuously, even when no process is running.
The value for Total can be initialized. To do so, be sure Total is shown.
First press PROG followed by STOP. After pressing PROG, the text "PUSH STOP" is shown. To
avoid initialization in that stage, press a different key or wait for 20 seconds. Initialization of Total
DOES NOT influence accumulated Total.
Accumulated Total can never be initialized. This value will count up to 99999999999.
Press STOP a few times to return to the main display information.
Alarms
The following alarms can occur:
▪Flow rate alarm:
When the actual flow rate is outside the allowed range (as set in the setup menu), the delivery
will be paused automatically and an alarm message will be shown indicating the type of flow rate
alarm: "LO RATE" or "HI RATE". If pause is enabled, the delivery can be restarted.
▪Maximum batch:
When the total quantity delivered exceeds a certain quantity, the F133-P will switch-off all relays
and generate an "MAX BATCH" alarm.
If pause is enabled, the delivery can be restarted.
▪Low-battery alarm
When the battery voltage drops, the "low-battery" icon will be displayed continuously. The battery
MUST be replaced shortly after!
The remaining lifetime after the first moment of indication is generally several days up to some
weeks. See paragraph 6.3 for further information on battery replacement.

▪Alarm
When the alarm indicator is shown, refer to Appendix B: Problem Solving.
2.4 DISPENSER FUNCTIONAL DIAGRAM
The function of the F133-P depends on the different settings in the setup menu. The example is
given for a typical configuration.
Legend
IIdle, waits for new delivery.
AStart, the START key is pushed to start a new delivery, the F133-P will reset itself.
BDelay, time for the pump to start up.
CBegin, pump is at delivery speed.
DStartup, valve opens to build up the flow, flow detection is active.
EStarted, flow is present at required rate.
FNot started, there is no flow or the flow is not sufficient, the valve closes and the display shows
NOT STARTED.

3 CONFIGURATION
3.1 INTRODUCTION
This and the following chapters are exclusively meant for electricians and non-operators. In these,
an extensive description of all software settings and hardware connections are provided.
•Mounting, electrical installation, start-up and maintenance of this device may only be
carried out by trained persons authorized by the operator of the facility. Persons must
read and understand this manual before carrying out its instructions.
•This device may only be operated by persons who are authorized and trained by the
operator of the facility. All instructions in this manual are to be observed.
•Make sure, the measuring system is correctly wired up according to the wiring diagrams.
Protection against accidental contact is no longer assured when the enclosure cover is
removed or the panel cabinet has been opened (danger from electrical shock). The
enclosure may only be opened by trained persons authorized by the operator of the
facility.
•Take careful notice of the "Safety rules, instructions and precautionary measures" in the
front of this manual.
3.2 PROGRAMMING SETUP-LEVEL
Changing the settings of the F133-P may have an influence on the current operation of the
device, even when SETUP-level is still active.
Make sure that the unit is not being used for any application when altering the settings.
3.2.1 ENTERING SETUP-LEVEL
Configuration of the F133-P is done at SETUP-level, which can be reached at all times while the
F133-P remains fully operational. At SETUP-level the display will deactivate the RUN indicator and
activate the SETUP indicator.
Use the control panel to access SETUP-level
PROG-key
To enter SETUP-level, press the PROG-key for 7 seconds at OPERATOR-level.
During this time, the symbols  will be displayed.
When SETUP-level is entered, a password might be required to continue. You can
enter the password by following the procedure for programming values as described in
the following paragraphs.
A password may be required to enter SETUP.
Without this password access to SETUP is denied.
3.2.2 NAVIGATING THROUGH SETUP-LEVEL
Each function has a unique menu-number, which is displayed below the SETUP indicator at the
bottom of the display. The menu-number is a combination of two figures, e.g. 1.2. The first number
indicates the function-group and the second number indicates the function. Additionally, each
function and function-group is expressed with a keyword.

Use the control panel to navigate through SETUP-level
PROG-key
When a function is selected, this key is used to start the programming sequence.
When only a function group is selected (and no function), this key is used to scroll
back a function group (e.g. 3 →2 →1 →3).
START-key
This key is used to select the next function in the list (e.g. 1 →1.1 →1.2 →1). When
the top of the list is reached, it will wrap around and return to the function group
selection.
STOP-key
This key is used to select the previous function in the list (e.g. 1.2 →1.1 →1 →2).
When the bottom of the list is reached, it will return to the function group selection.
When only a function group is selected (and no function), this key is used to scroll to
the next function group. (e.g. 1 →2 →3 →1).
3.2.3 PROGRAMMING SEQUENCE
After selecting a function at SETUP-level, a new value can be programmed using the control panel.
A function either contains a value (a number with optionally a decimal point, e.g. 123.45) or a list
with items (e.g. Disable Enable).
For each function that needs to change, navigate to that function and follow the steps indicated
below. During the programming sequence, the display will deactivate the SETUP indicator and
activate the PROGRAM indicator.
When programming new values, alterations will only be set after the PROG-key has been
pressed to confirm the new value! (STEP 3)
Step 1: Starting the programming sequence
PROG-key
When a function is selected at SETUP-level, this key is used to start the programming
sequence.
Step 2a: Changing a value
START-key
This key is used to increment the selected digit.
When the entered value is out of range, the increase sign or decrease-sign will
be displayed while you are programming. If this value is confirmed by pressing the
PROG-key, the value will be brought within a valid range automatically.
STOP-key
This key is used to select the next digit. If a decimal point can be set, this will be
included in the sequence as well (e.g. [decimal point] →digit 1 →digit 2→digit 3 →
[decimal point].
START-key + STOP-key
The combination of the START-key and STOP-key is used to select a negative value.
When a value can also be entered as a negative number, pressing the START-key
and STOP-
Step 2b: Changing the selected item in a list
START-key
This key is used to select the next item in the list (e.g. Disable →Enable).
At the end of the list, the selection will wrap around to the first selection.

STOP-key
This key is used to select the previous item in the list (e.g. Enable →Disable ).
At the bottom of the list, the selection will wrap around to the last selection.
Step 3: Finishing the programming sequence
PROG-key
During the programming sequence, this key is used to confirm the new value and
return to SETUP-level. To cancel the operation, either press the PROG-key for 3
seconds or wait for 20 seconds: the programming sequence is cancelled and the
former value is reinstated.
3.2.4 RETURNING TO OPERATOR-LEVEL
When all settings are configured correctly, the unit can be returned to OPERATE-level.
Please keep a record of all settings for later reference.
Use the control panel to return to OPERATE-level
PROG-key
In order to return to the operator level, press the PROG-key for three seconds.
When no keys are pressed for 2 minutes, SETUP-level will be left automatically.
3.3 CONFIGURATION SETTINGS

3.3.2 MENU 1 - TOTAL

TOTAL

UNIT
This setting is used to select the engineering unit for the indication of
the batch total and the accumulated total.
When you change the engineering unit, you must recalculate and
reprogram the K-factor for the (accumulated) total. When you
recalculate and reprogram the K-Factor, the history for (accumulated)
batch total is not correct anymore, because the (accumulated) batch
total is not recalculated. For future reference, best practice is to make
a note of the accumulated total before you program the recalculated
K-Factor.
1.2
DECIMALS
This setting is used to set the number of digits behind the decimal
point for the (accumulated) total indication.
1.3
K-FACTOR
This setting is used to set the K-Factor for the total. With the K-Factor,
the flowmeter pulse signals are converted to a quantity. The K-Factor
is based on the number of pulses generated by the flowmeter per
selected engineering unit, for example per m3. A more accurate K-
Factor (more decimals, as set in decimals K-Factor) allows for a more
accurate operation of the system.
Example 1: Calculating the K-Factor.
The flowmeter generates 2.4813 pulses per liter and the selected unit
is m3. A cubic meter consists of 1000 liter which gives 2.4813
pulses*1000 liter=2481.3 pulses per m3. So, the K-Factor is 2481.3.
Enter for the Flowmeter K-Factor: 24813 and for the flowmeter K-
Factor decimals: 1.
Example 2: Calculating the K-Factor.
The flowmeter generates 6.5231 pulses per gallon and the selected
engineering unit is gallons. So, the K-Factor is 6.5231. Enter for the
flowmeter K-Factor 65231 and for the flowmeter K-Factor decimals 4.
When you recalculate and reprogram a new K-Factor, the history for
(accumulated) batch total is not correct anymore, because the

FLOW RATE
2.1
UNIT
This setting is used to select the engineering unit for the indication of
the flow rate.
Alteration of the engineering unit will have consequences for operator
and SETUP-level values, they will not be automatically recalculated to
the value of the new selected unit. The K-factor has to be adapted as
well; the calculation is not done automatically.
2.2
TIME
This setting is used to set the time unit for the flow rate calculation.
Note that the flow rate is given in engineering unit/time unit, e.g.
liters/minute (l/min).
When you change this setting, also recalculate and change the
settings for the analog rate-min and analog rate-max.
2.3
DECIMALS
This setting is used to set the number of digits behind the decimal
point for the flow rate indication.
2.4
K-FACTOR
This setting is used to set the K-Factor for the flow rate. With the K-
Factor, the flowmeter pulse signals are converted to a quantity. The
K-Factor is based on the number of pulses generated by the
flowmeter per selected engineering unit, for example per m3. A more
accurate K-Factor (more decimals, as set in decimals K-Factor)
allows for a more accurate operation of the system.
2.5
DECIMALS K-FACTOR
This setting is used to set the number of digits behind the decimal
point for the K-Factor.
2.6
CALCULATION
The flow rate is calculated by measuring the time between a number
of pulses, for example 10 pulses. The more pulses the more accurate
the flow rate will be. The maximum value is 255 pulses.
This setting does influence the update interval for the flow rate and
thus, indirectly the update interval of the analog output.. (maximum
update 10 times a second). If the output response is too slow,
decrease the number of pulses. For low frequency applications (<
10Hz): do not program more than 10 pulses, else the update time will
be very slow.
For high frequency applications (> 1kHz) 50 or more pulses are
advised.
2.7
CUTOFF
This setting is used to set the threshold for a minimum flow. If during
this time less than XXX-pulses are generated (refer to Calculation),
the flow rate will be shown as zero. The cut-off has to be entered in
seconds.
2.8
LOW FLOW RATE ALARM
Activates the related alarm condition and to set the threshold value for
a this flow alarm. The setting 0.0 disables this alarm.
2.9
HIGH FLOW RATE
ALARM
Activates the related alarm condition and to set the threshold value for
a this flow alarm. The setting 0.0 disables this alarm.

DELAY TIME ALARM
Sets a delay time for the related alarm. When the alarm condition is
still valid after the delay time, an alarm is given.

3.3.5 MENU 4 - POWER MANAGEMENT
When used with the internal battery option (type PB/PC), the user can expect reliable measurement
over a long period of time. The F133-P has several smart power management functions to extend
the battery life time significantly. Two of these functions can be set.

POWER MANAGEMENT
4.1
LCD NEW
The calculation of the display-information influences the power
consumption significantly. When the application does not require a fast
display refresh rate, it is strongly advised to select a slow refresh rate.
Please understand that NO information will be lost; every pulse will be
counted and the output signals will be generated in the normal way.
At a key press, the display refresh rate will switch to FAST for 30
seconds. When 'OFF' is selected, the display goes off after 30 seconds
after the last key press. The display temporarily comes on after a key
press.
Example battery life-time with a coil pick-up:
•1kHz pulse and FAST update: about 2 years;
•1kHz pulse and 1 sec update: about 5 years.
4.2
BATTERY MODE
The F133-P has two modes: operational or shelf.
After "shelf" has been selected, the F133-P can be stored for several
years; it will not process the sensor signal; the display is switched off
but all settings and totals are stored. In this mode, power consumption
is extremely low.
To wake up the F133-P again, press the START/key two times.
3.3.6 MENU 5 - FLOWMETER
With this setting the type of flowmeter output is selected. The settings with LP (low-pass) filter are
used to apply a build-in noise reduction. Selections "active pulse" offer a detection level of 50% of
the supply voltage.

3.3.7 MENU 6 - CONTROL
Two control outputs are available to control relays or small valves (max. 50VDC 300mA). It is
advised to use relay 1 (R1) for pump-start and relay 2 (R2) for the valve control.

CONTROL
6.1
DELAY TIME
Sets the interval between the switch on of R1 (after receiving the Start
command), and the switch on of R2.
6.2
BEGIN TIME
Sets the interval in which flow should be detected, after the switch on of
R2. Flow is accepted when about two times the number of pulses set at
Setup 2.6 is received withing the BEGIN TIME. When flow is not
sufficient, delivery will be cancelled and R2 closes.
When set as 0.0 seconds, this function is disabled.
6.3
STARTUP TIME
Sets the interval between the completion of the BEGIN TIME and full
operation. There is no check on low flow during STARTUP TIME.
When set as 0.0 second, this function is disabled.
6.4
NO PULSE TIME
During full operation (after STARTUP TIME) flow can be monitored.
Relays will be switched off when no pulses are received during the time

set with Setup 6.5 and 6.6.
When set as 0.0 second, this function is disabled.
6.5
PAUSE
Enables the PAUSE function. When the process is interrupted in full
operation, by pressing the STOP key, the NO PULSE TIME function, a
FLOW RATE ALARM (Setup 2.8 and 2.9), or via STATUS INPUT
(Setup 7.1 and 7.2), the batch will be stopped but can be resumed.
In PAUSED mode R2 will be switched off but R1 remains on.
6.6
RESTART TIME
Sets the interval in which the operator should resume batching when
the unit is in PAUSED mode. When batching is not resumed timely, the
delivery is finished, R1 and R2 are shut off.
When set as 0.0 second, this function is disabled.
6.7
OVERRUN TIME
After switching off R1 and R2, some flow may still be present in the
system because of response time of mechanical parts or run off of
liquid. OVERRUN TIME is the interval during which the detected
overrun flow will still be counted as delivered.
When set as 0.0 second, this function is disabled.
