This safety and general information document contains safety and
information symbols that are relevant while using the system. The
document contains detailed laser safety information. The following
handling aspects are also dealt with: storage, care, maintenance,
disposal and transport. Safety specifications, FCC requirements, notes
on data storage, general information, and system warranty form part
of this document.
Contents subject to change without further notice, particularly in the
interest of further technical development.
Safety
Safety symbols
The CAUTION symbol denotes information which must
be followed in order to avoid damage to equipment.
The WARNING symbol denotes information which must
be followed in order to avoid personal injury.
The laser safetywarning symbol denotes laserradiation.
The Electrical hazard symbol is used to identify elec-
trical hazard and high voltage areas.
Denotes conformity to requirements of European Union
and European Free Trade Association.
Denotes that any waste electrical and electronics parts
of the system including memory sticks must be disposed
of according to applicable safety and environmental
regulations.
Denotes that the product is made of parts that are
recyclable.
General safety
To prevent possible electrical shock, fire, or personal injury:
Read all safety information before you use the system.
Carefully read all instructions.
Use the system only as specified, or the protection supplied by
the system can be compromised.
Make sure machines are locked out, tagged out, and cannot be
started accidentally or deliberately during maintenance.
Do not use the system around explosive gas or vapour.
Use only the external mains power supply included with the
system.
Do not charge the system components while inside its carrying
case.
The batteries of the system components must not be allowed
to fully discharge (a minimum charge capacity of 15% is
acceptable).
Do not use the system if it operates incorrectly.
Use only specified replacement parts.
Have an authorized PRÜFTECHNIK service centre repair the
system.

Laser safety
The system uses a Class 2 laser according to the requirements of
IEC 60825-1:2014. This laser complies with 21 CFR 1040.10 and
1040.11 except for deviations pursuant to Laser Notice No. 50, dated
June 24, 2007. The laser operates at a wavelength of 630 – 680
nm and has a maximum radiant power <1 mW. No maintenance is
necessary to keep the product compliant as outlined above.
Do not look directly into the laser beam at any time. (The natural
blink reaction of the human eye is normally sufficient to protect
the eyes from any dangers posed by looking at the laser beam
briefly. But as natural blink reaction may fail to occur, care
should be taken to avoid staring into the beam.)
Do not insert any optical devices into the beam path.
The LED on the front of the sensor illuminates whenever the
laser beam is emitted.
CAUTION – Use of controls or adjustments or performance of
procedures other than those specified herein may result in
hazardous radiation exposure.
To prevent eye damage and personal injury:
Do not point laser directly at persons or animals or indirectly off
reflective surfaces.
Do not look directly into the laser with optical tools (for example
: binoculars, telescopes, microscopes). Optical tools can focus
the laser and be dangerous to the eye.
Use the sensor only as specified or hazardous laser radiation
exposure can occur.
Do not open the sensor. The laser beam is dangerous to
eyes. Have the system repaired only through an approved
PRÜFTECHNIK service centre.
Flash LED (eye safety)
The rugged tablet is equiped with a flash LED that may be used for
flash photography or as a flashlight(torch). The flash LED is consid-
ered Risk Group 1 according to IEC 62471:2006. DO NOT look directly
at the operating LED or direct the beam to another person’s eyes,
as this may lead to eye injury. Observe the laser safety instructions
outlined above.
Transporting lithium based battery operated system components
When returning lithium-ion battery operated system components
to PRÜFTECHNIK for inspection, service or repair, ensure that the
batteries are not defective. If the components are to be shipped using
air transport, the individual battery charge must not exceed 30% of
its rated capacity. If you suspect a defect in the battery, DO NOT ship
the component with the defect battery back to PRÜFTECHNIK. You may
contact your local representative for further information.
The relevant material safety data sheets for all PRÜFTECHNIKbatteries
are posted on the PRÜFTECHNIK website at www.pruftechnik.com.
The packaging and dispatch regulations for any given battery are
described under section 14 in the material safety data sheets.

Transporting magnetic brackets and other magnetic components
To ensure that stray magnetic fields do not affect the avionics in
aircraft, the aviation industry has put forward stringent regulations for
air transportation of magnetic material. The magnetic field strength
of such components must not exceed specified limits. To comply with
this regulation, a cover plate for all PRÜFTECHNIK magnetic compo-
nents and brackets is available. The plate lowers the magnetic field
strength significantly, keeping it well below the required limits and
therefore causing no restrictions for air transportation. The relevant
safety data sheets are available for download and reference on the
PRÜFTECHNIK website at www.pruftechnik.com.
Data safety
As with any data processing software, data may be lost or
altered under certain circumstances. PRÜFTECHNIK strongly
recommends that you keep a backup or printed record of all
important data.
PRÜFTECHNIK assumes no liability for data lost or altered as a
result of improper use, repairs, defects, battery replacement/
failures or any other cause.
PRÜFTECHNIK assumes no responsibility, directly or indirectly,
for financial losses or claims from third parties resulting from
the use of this product and any of its functions, such as loss or
alteration of stored data.

Handling precautions
The rugged tablet, the sensor and the reflector are precision instru-
ments and should not be dropped or subjected to physical shock.
Storage
Use the provided case to transport the system. If the sensor and
reflector are mounted on standard brackets while within the case,
do not turn the brackets upside down when removing them from the
case. This reduces the risk of the components crashing to the ground
in case that they have not been fastened to the support posts.
If the system is not used for an extended period, the system compo-
nents must be stored in a cool, dry and well-ventilated location.
Observe the storage temperatures specified in the “Safety specifica-
tions” section.
Care
The sensor lens and the rugged tablet display must be kept clean. Use
the supplied lens cleaning cloth. Avoid vigorous polishing to preserve
the anti-reflective coatings of the glass element. The sensor housing
and the rugged computer protective holster may be wiped clean
using a soft cloth dampened with a mild, non-abrasive detergent (use
soapy water with only 1% mild soap in water). The display should be
cleaned using a soft lint-free dry cloth.
Maintenance
Although the system is essentially maintenance-free, the following
points should be observed:
The calibration accuracy of the sensor should be checked every
two years as indicated by the coloured date wheel label affixed
to the back of the housing.
Please return the sensor to your authorized PRÜFTECHNIK
service center for inspection by the indicated date.
Disposal
Any waste electrical and electronics parts of the system including
memory sticks must be disposed of according to applicable safety and
environmental regulations.
Customers in member states of the European Union must adhere
to the EU directive 2002/96/EC on waste electrical and electronic
equipment (WEEE). PRÜFTECHNIK products that fall under this
directive are marked with the shown crossed-out wheelie bin symbol
and must be disposed of according to this directive.
The marked components must be disposed of with
PRÜFTECHNIK or their authorized disposal partners.

please contact your local PRÜFTECHNIK sales representa-
tive.
sensALIGN 3 sensor approvals
Country-specific radio approvals for sensALIGN 3 sensor may be
obtained from the PRÜFTECHNIK website (www.pruftechnik.com).

Declaration of conformity
The system fulfills the EC Guidelines for electric devices and those
relating to electromagnetic compatibility as indicated in the respec-
tive conformity certificates. The certificates may be downloaded from
the PRÜFTECHNIK website.
Warranty
PRÜFTECHNIK warrants that the system which has been purchased
from PRÜFTECHNIK is free from defects in materials or workmanship
under normal use during the warranty period. If not otherwise stipu-
lated, the limited warranty period for the system is 24 months from
date of invoice. This warranty is valid only for the original purchaser,
and excludes expendable parts.
EXCEPTAS EXPRESSLY SET FORTH IN THIS WARRANTY; PRÜFTECHNIK
MAKES NO OTHER WARRANTIES, EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING
ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR

Allgemeine Sicherheit
Zur Verhinderung von möglichen Stromschlägen, Feuer oder
Personenschäden:
Lesen Sie die Sicherheitsinformationen vor Gebrauch des
Systems vollständig durch.

Verwenden Sie das Produkt ausschließlich wie vorgesehen.

Lasersicherheit
Dieses System verwendet einen Klasse-2-Laser gemäß den
Anforderungen der IEC 60825-1:2014. Dieser Laser erfüllt die
Anforderungen der 21 CFR 1040.10 und 1040.11 mit Ausnahme
der Abweichungen gemäß dem Laser-Hinweis Nr. 50 vom 24. Juni
2007. Der Laser hat eine typische Wellenlänge von 630 – 680 nm
und eine maximale Strahlungsleistung < 1 mW. Das Gerät benötigt
keine Wartung zur Einhaltung obiger Spezifikationen.
NICHT DIREKT IN DEN LASERSTRAHL BLICKEN! Der
Augenschutz ist über Abwendungsreaktionen einschließlich
des Lidschlussreflexes gewährleistet. Da der Lidschlussreflex
nicht immer eintritt, sollte man sich bewusst von der Strahlung
abwenden oder das Lid bewusst schließen.
Keine Linsen oder optische Gläser in den Laserstrahl halten
Am Gehäuse leuchtet eine rote LED auf, wenn Laserstrahlung an
der Austrittsöffnung austritt.
VORSICHT – Eine Abweichung von der in dieser
Bedienungsanleitung beschriebenen Bedienung, Verwendung
oder Vorgehensweise kann zur Exposition von gefährlicher
Strahlung führen.
ZurVerhinderung von Augenschäden und anderen Gesundheitsschäden:
Richten Sie den Laserstrahl niemals direkt oder indirekt über
reflektierende Oberflächen auf Personen oderTiere.
Blicken Sie nicht mit optischen Geräten direkt in den Laserstrahl
(zum Beispiel mit Ferngläsern, Teleskopen oder Mikroskopen).
Optische Geräte können den Laserstrahl fokussieren und das
Auge beschädigen.
Verwenden Sie das System ausschließlich wie vorgesehen.
Andernfalls kann eine gefährliche Laserstrahlenbelastung
auftreten.
Gehäuse des Sensors nicht öffnen. Der Laserstrahl ist für das
menschliche Auge gefährlich. Lassen Sie das System ausschließ-
lich von einer zugelassenen Fachwerkstatt reparieren.
LED-Blitz / Aufhelllicht (Augensicherheit)
Für die Aufnahme von Objekten ist eine Kamera im Tablet auf der
Rückseite integriert. Zur Aufhellung der Objekte lässt sich bei Bedarf
ein LED-Dauerlicht einschalten bzw. die Lichtquelle als Aufhellblitz
verwenden (Risikogruppe 1 gemäß IEC 62471:2006).
Nicht direkt in das LED-Licht blicken oder den Lichtstrahl auf die
Augen einer anderen Person richten.
Dies kann zu Schädigungen der Augen führen.
Transport von batteriebetriebenen Komponenten
Wenn Sie batteriebetriebene Komponenten an PRÜFTECHNIK ein-
schicken, prüfen Sie vorher die Batterien. Akku auf weniger als 30%
Restladung entladen, wenn das bereffende Komponent per Luftfracht
versendet wird.

Beachten Sie die Produktsicherheitsdatenblätter für die verwendeten
Batterien und Akkus auf der PRÜFTECHNIKWebseite (www. pruftech-
nik.com). Vorschriften zu Verpackung und Versand von Batterien und
Akkus sind jeweils in Abschnitt 14 des Produktsicherheitsdatenblattes
beschrieben.
Transport von magnetischen Spannvorrichtungen und Komponenten
Um die Beeinträchtigung von Flugzeugen durch magnetische
Streufelder zu vermeiden, hat die Luftfahrtindustrie strenge
Vorschriften für den Transport von magnetischen Materialien
erlassen. Die magnetische Feldstärke von Komponenten darf
spezifizierte Grenzen nicht überschreiten. Damit diese Vorschriften
erfüllt werden, hat PRÜFTECHNIK spezielle Abdeckplatten für mag-
netische Spannvorrichtungen und Komponenten entwickelt. Die
Abdeckplatten verringern die Stärke des Magnetfelds erheblich,
sodass die Werte unterhalb der Grenzwerte liegen und ein
Transport per Flugzeug uneingeschränkt möglich ist. Beachten Sie
die Produktsicherheitsdatenblätter auf der PRÜFTECHNIK Webseite
(www.pruftechnik.com).
Datensicherheit
Wie bei allen elektronischen Speicherbausteinen können unter
bestimmten Umständen Daten verlorengehen oder geändert
werden. Erstellen Sie daher von besonders wichtigen Daten
immer eine Sicherungskopie sowie einen Ausdruck auf Papier
zur Archivierung.

in Folge unsachgemäßer Anwendung, Reparatur, fehlerhaftem

Gebrauch
Die Systemkomponenten sind Präzisionsmessgeräte und sind
mit größter Sorgfalt zu behandeln. Insbesondere sind starke
Erschütterungen und Schockbelastungen zu vermeiden, wie sie z.B.
beim Herunterfallen auftreten können.
Lagerung
Verwenden Sie für den Transport der Systemkomponenten den
mitgelieferten Tragekoffer. Wenn Sensor und Reflektor im Tragekoffer
an Standardspannvorrichtungen montiert sind, nehmen Sie die
Spannvorrichtungen mit nach oben gerichtetem Sensor und Reflektor
aus dem Tragekoffer. Das Risiko, dass die Komponenten zu Boden
fallen könnten, wenn sie nicht fest genug an die Haltestanden
montiert sind, wird dadurch verringert.
Wenn das System für einen längeren Zeitraum nicht verwendet
wird, muss es an einem kühlen, trockenen und gut durchlüfteten Ort
aufbewahrt werden.
Beachten Sie die Spezifikationen für Temperaturbereich im Abschnitt
„Sicherheitsspezifikationen“.
Pflege
Die optischen Komponenten an der Sensorik und das Tablet-Display
müssen sauber gehalten werden. Verwenden Sie für die Reinigung
der Glasflächen das mitgelieferte Reinigungstuch. Vermeiden Sie zu
kräftiges Reiben, um die anti-reflektive Beschichtung der Glasflächen
nicht zu beschädigen. Für die Reinigung der Kunstoffgehäuse
verwenden Sie ein weiches Tuch. Feuchten Sie das Tuch mit einem
milden Reinigungsmittel (Seifenlauge mit nur 1% Anteil milder Seife)
an und wischen Sie über die Oberfläche. Das Display sollte mit einem
trockenen, weichen, fusselfreien Tuch gereinigt werden.
Wartung
Die Systemkomponenten sind wartungsfrei. Um die Messgenauigkeit
des Systems dauerhaft zu gewährleisten, beachten Sie bitte folgende
Empfehlungen:
Lassen Sie die Kalibriergenauigkeit der Sensorik alle zwei Jahre
überprüfen. Das entsprechende Kalibrierdatum finden Sie auf
der Plakette am Sensorgehäuse.
Bei Fälligkeit schicken Sie die Sensorik zur Überprüfung an ein
PRÜFTECHNIK Service-Center. Für weitere Informationen zum
