1. Introduction
T ank you for your purc ase of t e Wireless Wi-Fi Weat er Station, w ic is
designed wit t e latest low power Wi-Fi tec nology, w ic can be operated
wit 2pcs AA batteries, and it works up to 6 mont s. T e following user guide
provides step by step instructions for installation, operation and
troubles ooting.
2. Warnings and Cautions
Warning: Any metal object may attract a lig tning strike, including your
weat er station mounting pole. Never install t e weat er station in a storm.
Warning: Installing your weat er station in a ig location may result in
injury or deat . Perform as muc of t e initial c eck and operation on t e
ground and inside a building or ome. Only install t e weat er station on a clear,
dry day.
3. Quic Start Guide
Alt oug t e manual is compre ensive, muc of t e information contained may
be intuitive. In addition, t e manual does not flow properly because t e sections
are organized by components.
T e following Quick Start Guide provides only t e necessary steps to install,
operate t e weat er station, and upload to t e internet, along wit references to
t e pertinent sections.

4. Pre-Installation Chec out and Site Survey
4.1 Pre Installation Chec out
Before installing your weat er station in t e permanent location, we
recommend operating t e weat er station for one week in a temporary location
wit easy access. T is will allow you to c eck out all of t e functions, insure
proper operation, and familiarize you wit t e weat er station and calibration
procedures. T is will also allow you to test t e wireless range of t e weat er
station.
4.2 Site Survey
Perform a site survey before installing t e weat er station. Consider t e
following:
1. You must clean t e rain gauge every few mont s and c ange t e
batteries every year. Provide easy access to t e weat er station.
2. Avoid radiant eat transfer from buildings and structures. In general,
install t e sensor array at least 5’ from any building, structure, ground,
or roof top.
3. Avoid wind and rain obstructions. T e rule of t umb is to install t e
sensor array at least four times t e distance of t e eig t of t e tallest
obstruction. For example, if t e building is 20’ tall, and t e mounting
pole is 6’ tall, install 4 x (20 – 6)’ = 56’ away.
4. Wireless Range. T e radio communication between receiver and
transmitter in an open field can reac a distance of up to 100 meters,
providing t ere are no interfering obstacles suc as buildings, trees,
ve icles, ig voltage lines. Wireless signals will not penetrate metal
buildings. Under most conditions, t e maximum wireless range is 100’.
5. Radio interference suc as PCs, radios or TV sets can, in t e worst case,
entirely cut off radio communication. Please take t is into
consideration w en c oosing console or mounting locations. Make
sure your display console is at least five feet away from any electronic
device to avoid interference.

5.2.1 Install U-bolts and mounting pole
Installation of t e U-bolts, w ic are in turn used to mount t e sensor package
on a pole, requires installation of an included metal plate to receive t e U-bolt
ends. T e metal plate, visible in Figure 2, as four oles t roug w ic t e ends
of t e two U-Bolts will fit. T e plate itself is inserted in a groove on t e bottom
of t e unit. Note t at one side of t e plate as a straig t edge (w ic goes into
t e groove), t e ot er side is bent at a 90-degree angle and as a curved profile
(w ic will end up “ ugging” t e mounting pole). Once t e metal plate is
inserted, remove nuts from t e U-Bolts and insert bot U-bolts t roug t e
respective oles of t e metal plate as s own in Figure 2.

Loosely screw on t e nuts on t e ends of t e U-bolts. You will tig ten t ese later
during final mounting. Final assembly is s own in Figure 3.

5.2.2 Install wind vane

5.2.4 Install Rain Gauge
Install t e rain gauge funnel. Rotate clockwise to attac t e funnel to t e
outdoor sensor.

5.2.5 Install Batteries
Insert 2XAA batteries in t e battery compartment. T e LED indicator on t e
back of t e transmitter will turn on for four seconds and normally flas once
every 16 seconds (t e sensor transmission update period).

Note: If no LED lig t up or is permanently on, make sure t e batteries are
inserted t e correct way or a proper reset as appened. Do not install t e
batteries backwards. You can permanently damage t e outdoor sensor.
Note: We recommend 1.5V lit ium batteries for cold weat er climates, but
alkaline batteries are enoug for most climates. We do not recommend
rec argeable batteries. T ey ave lower voltages, t ey do not operate well at
wide temperature ranges, and do not last as long, resulting in poorer reception.
5.2.6 Mount assembled outdoor sensor pac age
5.2.6.1 Before you mount
Before proceeding wit t e outdoor mounting detailed in t is section, you may
want to skip to setup instructions in section Fehler! Verweisquelle

t e assembled outdoor sensor package nearby (alt oug preferably not closer
t an 5 ft. from t e console). T is will make any troubles ooting and
adjustments easier and avoids any distance or interference related issues from
t e setup.
After setup is complete and everyt ing is working, return ere for outdoor
mounting. If issues s ow up after outdoor mounting t ey are almost certainly
related to distance, obstacles etc.
5.2.6.2 Mounting
You can attac a pipe to a permanent structure and t en attac t e sensor
package to it (see Figure 8). T e U-Bolts will accommodate a pipe diameter of
1-2 inc es (pipe not included).

Finally, place t e sensor package on top of t e prepared mounting pipe.T e U-
Bolts s ould be loose enoug to allow t is but loosen t e nuts as necessary.
Once placed, and tig tens all four nuts, taking care to do so evenly.
Now you will need to align t e w ole package in t e proper direction by
rotating it on top of t e mounting pipe as needed. Locate t e arrow
labeled “WEST” t at you will find on top of t e sensor package rig t next
to t e lig t sensor. You must rotate t e w ole sensor package until t is arrow
points due West. To ac ieve proper alignment, it is elpful to use
a compass (many cell p ones ave a compass application).
Once rotated in t e correct orientation, lig tly tig ten t e bolts a little more
(use a wrenc ) to prevent furt er rotation.
Note: Use t e bubble level next to t e rain sensor to make sure t e sensor array
is completely level. If t e sensor is not level t en t e rain gauge will measure
inaccurately.
5.2.7 Reset Button and Transmitter LED
In t e event t at t e sensor array is not transmitting, reset t e sensor array.
Wit an open ended paperclip, press and old t e RESET BUTTON for t ree
seconds and resync ronize wit console by powering down and up t e console.
Please put t e console wit t e sensor array about 3 meters away.

5.3 Optional sensors
Important: W en more sensors, excluding t e original sensor array, to be paired
wit t e display, DC power supply must be applied as console will turn on its
RF receiver permanently, w ic increases t e current consumption
significantly.
Optional sensor data can be viewed by WS View Plus APP on its live data page.
Console LCD is reserved for integrated sensor array data osting only!!
T e following optional sensors (sold separately) can be used wit console
display.
If you ave purc ased extra sensors, just simply power t em up, t e display
console will receive t e data automatically and send t e data directly to
Ecowitt.net (requires to set t e console uploading to ecowitt.net first). T e
data will not display on t e console (pass t roug only) and sensor management
and calibration can only be realized via WS VIEW APP.
Note: W en optional sensor (s) added, it requires t at t e console must be
powered by USB connection.

5.5 Best Practices for Wireless Communication

4. Relative umidity

Wireless communication is susceptible to interference, distance, walls and
metal barriers. We recommend t e following best practices for trouble free
wireless communication.
Electro-Magnetic Interference (EMI). Keep t e console several feet away
from computer monitors and TVs.
Radio Frequency Interference (RFI). If you ave ot er devices operating on
t e same frequency band as your indoor and/or outdoor sensors and experience
intermittent communication between sensor and console, try turning off t ese
ot er devices for troubles ooting purposes. You may need to relocate t e
transmitters or receivers to avoid t e interference and establis reliable
communication. T e frequencies used by t e sensors are one of (depending on
your location): 433, 868, or 915 MHz (915 MHz for United States).
1. Line of Sight Rating. T is device is rated at 300 feet line of sig t (no
interference, barriers or walls) but typically you will get 100 feet
maximum under most real-world installations, w ic include passing
t roug barriers or walls.
2. Metal Barriers. Radio frequency will not pass t roug metal barriers
suc as aluminum siding. If you ave metal siding, align t e remote
and console t roug a window to get a clear line of sig t.
T e following is a table of reception loss vs. t e transmission medium.

(1) Unfold t e desk stand and place t e console 5 to 10 feet away from t e
outdoor sensor.
(2) Remove t e battery door on t e back of t e console and insert 2 x AA good
quality Alkaline or Lit ium batteries per Figure 14.
(3) Wait several minutes for t e remote sensors to sync ronize wit t e
display console.
(4) In order to prevent t e display console's own temperature rising from
affecting t e accurate reading of temperature and umidity, t e
temperature and umidity sensor is placed at t e antenna end, away from
t e station body. Orient t e console antenna straig t up for accurate indoor
temperature and umidity reading.

6.3 Setting mode
Note: DST, Time Zone setting can only be programmed via WS View APP.
You will need to set time zone info properly if you ave t e console connected
to internet and t ese setting need to be adjusted for your setup, ot erwise
console will be sync ronized to default setting if you don’t setup t ese
parameters on t e APP properly.
