Check that the installation area meets the space requirements of the rack in which the ETERNUS DX Disk
storage system is to be installed.
Environmental considerations for installation
Check if the installation area for the ETERNUS DX Disk storage system meets the environmental conditions
and installation environment conditions.
Power outlets
Check the type and the number of power outlets/sockets that are required to install the ETERNUS DX Disk
storage system.
Completing and attaching the Network Settings label
Write down the following information on the Network Settings label and attach it to the controller enclosure.

1. Adjust the rack rail size to t the rack.
The rack rail needs to be attached to the rack and the controller enclosure or the drive enclosure needs to
be installed.
The M5 screw positions for the rack rails are determined by the controller enclosure or the drive
enclosure base line.
Insert the M5 screws in the 1st and 3rd holes on the front and rear rack pillars above the base lines to
fasten the rack rails.
2. Attach the rack rails to the rack.
The size of the controller enclosure and the drive enclosure is 2U.
Installation in a Rack
STEP
●A drive enclosure must be installed above a controller enclosure.
●The center of gravity must be taken into consideration to prevent a rack from toppling over.
The controller enclosure and the drive enclosure should generally be installed from bottom to top to
lower the center of gravity and to ensure the safe use of racks.

3. Install the controller enclosure or the drive enclosure in the rack.
Make sure to install or remove the controller enclosure or the drive enclosure to or from a rack with
two or more people.

4. Fasten the controller enclosure or the drive enclosure in the rack.
●2.5" Type Controller Enclosure
(1) Use the thumb screw to fasten the front right of the controller enclosure to the rack pillars.
(2) Attach the ange cover to the front left of the controller enclosure and use the thumb screw to
fasten it to the rack pillars.

(1) Use the thumb screws at the front of the controller enclosure or the drive enclosure to fasten it to
the rack.
(2) Attach the front cover.
