The servo reversing switches are assumed to beinthenormal
position inthe descriptionsinthissection. When the servo
switches are inthe reverse position, operation isthe opposite
ofthat described here.
(1)Steering wheel (rudder)

Engine control/motorcontroloperation.
The throttleneutralpositioncan be set toone of three position by
turning the 8 throttle neutraladjuster with a coin as shown in
Fig. 5.Set ittomatchtheapplication.
When setto1 ) the fulldeflectionangleis40°

brakedeflectionangleis13°.
When set to3 ) thethrottleandbrake (reverse)

Thisadjuster sets the throttle trigger neutral point as described in (2)
throttletrigger.Set it tothepoint atwhichit stopswitha click
witha screwdriver,coin,etc.

When setin thedirectionof theA mark (upper position),the switch
isturned on andthe pointer of the level meter deflects.
(14)Levelmeter
When the 13)power switchis set toON, the levelmeter pointer
should deflecttowithinthesilverzone.Ifthe pointer stops nearthe
boundary betweenthesilverand red zones,thebatteryislow, and
the range of theradiowaves willbe short.When the levelmeter
pointer dropstothe boundary between the silverandredzones,
change thebattery.

Whenloading (orchanging) the eight penlightbatteries, removethis
cover as shown inFig.2.
(17) Transmittercrystal
Whenchangingthefrequency, replace this crystal. Use the AM crys-
talset(transmit and receive1 pair)sold by Futaba. The transmitter
crystalismarked TXand thereceivercrystalis marked RX.However,
youarenot allowedtochange frequency by merely replacing crystal
on both72and 75MHz.

The BECmark isdisplayed onthefrontof thereceiver of BEC
(Battery Eliminator Circuitry) system sets with a receiver with shared
power supply regulator.

TheFutabaBEC (Battery Eliminator Circuitry) system canalso usea commonpower supply with the conventional four penlight
batteries system (separate power supply).

•A common power supply regulator anddiode may also besupplied with the speedcontroller, depending on the vehicle kit.Since
theycausea voltagedrop,always remove them.
•Setthe transmitter power switch to ON, then set the receiver power
switchto ON. The servos stop near theneutralposition. Operate the
transmittersticksand check ifeach servo faithfullyfollowsopera-
tionofthe sticks.
•Connect thepushrod to each servo horn, then check ifthe direc-
tionoftravelof each servo matches the transmitteroperation.
•Operate each servo over itsfulltraveland check if the pushrod binds
or is too loose. Applying unreasonable force to the servo horn will
adversely affecttheservo and quickly drain the battery.Be especial-
ly carefulwhen using 8.4V.
• Alwaysmake the full stroke (including trim) of the servo horns
somewhat larger than the full travel. Adjust the servo horns so that
they move smoothly even when thetrimlever and stickare operated
simultaneously in the same direction.
•Be alert fornoise.
Alwayssolder a noise killingcapacitor to the runningmotor. If
metal pans toucheach other due to vibration,noise willbe generat-
edandcause the receiver servosto operate erroneously. We recom-
mendtheuse ofnoiseless parts.
•Even though the receiver antenna wire islong,do notcut orbundle
it.The rangeof the radiowaves will beshortened.

•Installthe servosfirmly. Install

•A spare horn isprovided. Useitas required.
•Wrap thereceiverinsponge rubber and wraprubber bands around
thesponge rubber. Mount thereceiversoitisnotexposed tovibra-
tion,does not touchthe frame,and does not move.
•When thereceiverisinstalled on a board or used where itmay be
splashed withmud and water,place it ina plastic bag, etc.and
wrapa rubber band around theopen end ofthebag towaterproof
and dustproofthe receiver. Afteruse, remove the receiver from the
bagto prevent condensation.
•Usethe rubberbandswrapped aroundthe receiver to holdthe
servo and switch leads.
•Aftermounting iscomplete,recheck each part, then check the
transmittingrange by making the transmitterantenna as short as
possible and extendingthereceiverantenna fullyandoperating the
set froma distanceof20m to30m. The movement of each servo
should followthemovement ofthetransmittersticks.
•The crystalcan be changed fromtheoutsideof thereceiver case.
Alwaysuse a Futaba transmitter andreceiver crystalpair as the
replacementcrystals.
CONVERSION TO NICAD SYSTEM
FP-2PKA ONLY
To use a nicad batterywith this set, modify
the set withtheoptional PBPK-11(2PKA
nicadbatteryconversionset).
(1)Remove the battery cover and discon-
nect thenine contactswithneedle nosed
pliers at shown inFig. 15. Then install
the transmitterNT-8LP nicadbattery
and install the
battery cover.

(2) Charging and how to use
(a)Connect the power plug of the FBC-8B
(4) battery charger to the transmitter
chargingconnector.Connect the3PC red
male connectorto the receiverand servo
NR-4H nicad battery.Plug the battery
charger into a 120VACoutlet as shown
in Fig. 16.
(b)Normallyrecharge the batteryforabout
15hours. If thebattery has not been
used forsome time or isnew, discharge
and recharge it2 or 3 timesbeforeuse.
(c) Ifthe batteryisleftdischarged for a long
time, its capacity willdecrease and the
lifeof the battery willbeshortened.
Afteruse, recharge the battery before
storingit.
(d) Alwaysrechargethebatterybeforeuse.
(e)A fullycharged batterycan beused for
about twohours at 10minutes/flight.
