II. Introduction
Digitalinsulation resistancemeter alsoknown as megohmmeter, high
voltageinsulationresistancetester,etc.,fortheinsulationresistance
test.TheinstrumenthasalargeLCDscreengray backlitdisplay,datastorage,
dataaccess,alarm,automatic shutdownandotherfunctions.At thesametime,
it alsohas the functionofmeasuring AC voltage absorption ratio and
polarization index of DC voltage. Themachine is beautifuland upscale,has
awide range,highresolution,convenientoperation,easy to carry,accurate,
reliable, stableperformance, stronganti-interference ability. Moreover,
ithasashockproof, dustproof, moisture-proof structureandis acommonly
usedand indispensable instrumentfor telecommunications, electricity,
meteorology,computerrooms,oilfields,electromechanicalinstallationand

VII.Operation Method
1Power On/Off
PressthePOWERbuttontoturnthe switchonandoff.Afterthepower
is turned on, “APO”isdisplayed inthelower corner.When itis notin
operation,itwillautomatically shut down after 15minutes.
2Battery Voltage Check
Afterpowering on, if the LCD showsalow batteryvoltage sign “”,
it indicatesthatthebatteryis runninglow.Pleasechargein time.

3DC Voltage Test

Pressthebutton toswitchtotheDCvoltagetest mode,connectthe

5Insulation ResistanceTest
Insulation resistance test canonly be carriedout on an
uncharged circuit. Beforetesting, checkwhetherthetest
circuitwiring is in good condition and whether the circuit under
test isenergized.If thecircu
it is live,it may damage the
instrument and affect the measurement accuracy.
Must wear high-voltage insulating gloves to operate.
In the insulation resistancerange,pressthetestswitch to
generatehigh voltage in thetest line head and in the circu
it
under test. Please be carefulto avoid touching.
Be sure toconnectthegroundingwire (black)tothegrounding
port ofthe circuit under test.
Do nottouchthecircuitimmediately after testing. The stored
charge may cause electric shock.

removethe test leadimmediately. Waituntil thedischarge
is complete before touching the circuit under test.
In order to ensurethe measurement accuracy, do not twistthe
test lines together.

the circuit undertest is uncharged.
Turntherotaryswitchto gear,thenpress VSEL toselectthevoltage
value to be tested.
Oneendofthegroundwire(black)is connectedtotheinstrument
connection EARTH and the other end isconnected tothe ground end of the
circuitunder test.Oneend ofthe high-voltagerod testline (red) is
connected to theotherendofthe instrument LINE andthe headisincontact
withthecircuitundertest.If thetest hasagreen branchline as ashielded
line,the accuracyofconnecting theGUARDportduring testingisbetter.
Ifthe matching test linedoes not carry thisline, it doesnotneedtobe
connected.Asshowninthefigure,pressthe TFRT test button. TheLCDshows

the measured value.Read theinsulation resistancevalueafterthe measured
value is fixed.
6GUARD Use of Protective Wires
Whenthe insulationresistanceofthecableismeasured,theleakage
currentof thecoveredsurface passesthrough theinterioroftheinsulator
andthecurrentconverges,resultinginanerrorintheinsulationresistance
value. Inorder toavoidthisphenomenon,as shownin the figure below,use
the protection wire(anyconductivebarewire)toflow theleakagecurrent
throughthepart.Afterconnectingtotheprotection port,theleakage current
does not flow through the indicatorand the insulatorcan accurately measure
the insulationresistance.Pleaseuse theprotection testcableofthe
accessory to connect theprotectionport.
7Polarization Index(PI)and Absorption ratio(DAR)
7.1ThefunctionofPolarizationindex(PI)andAbsorptionratio(DAR):

ThePolarizationIndex(PI)andAbsorptionRatio(DAR)areteststocheck
whether the leakage currentof the insulatorhasincreased.Theleakcurrent
did not increase whileconfirming theapplication time. The instrument
automaticallycalculatesthepolarizationindexPIandtheabsorptionratio
DAR.Asajudgementoftheinsulationperformance,boththepolarization index
PIandtheabsorptionratio DAR indicatethechange intheinsulation
resistanceovera period oftimeafterthemeasured object withstandsthe
measured voltage.
7.2The differencebetween Polarization index (PI )and Absorption
ratio(DAR):
Forgeneralinsulationtests,suchashousinginsulation,toolhandles,
etc. can generally betestedin arelatively short periodof timeto increase
theleakagecurrent with the increaseofthevoltageapplication time,so
generallycanbetestedwith ashorttimetest,theshort-terminsulation
resistanceratioDARiscalled the absorptionratio(seethefollowing formula
for the specifictest time),butfor the large-capacity and long-term
absorptionprocess,suchastransformers,generators,cables,capacitorsand
otherelectricalequipment,sometimestheabsorptionratio(DAR)is not
enough toreflect the whole process ofabsorption,andtheinsulation
resistanceratiocan be usedforalongertime,thatis,the ratiobetween
theinsulation resistance(R10min)at 10minutesand theinsulation
resistance(R1min)at 1 minute describesthe entire processofinsulation
absorption, and PIiscalled the polarization index.
The PI andDAR valuesare calculated by the following formula:

7.3Polarization index(PI)and Absorptionratio(DAR) Test
The Polarization Index(PI) andAbsorptionRatio Test(DAR) canonly be
performed onunchargedcircuits.Beforetesting, check that the test leads
are good and confirm that the circuit under test ischarged or not.
Turn the rotary switch to gear, then press VSEL to select the voltage
value to test.
Pressthe SET key tosetthecorresponding mode.TheLCDshows “10:01m”
asthe polarizationindexmode inthelowerleft corneroftheLCD, “60:15S”
asthe absorptionmode15 secondmode,and “60:30S”as the absorptionmode
30secondmode. Smallnumbers donot show anythingfortheinsulation
resistancemeasurement mode.
One end ofthegroundwire (black)is connected totheinstrument
connection EARTH and the other end is connected to the ground endof the
circuitundertest.Oneendofthehigh-pressurerodtestline(red)is
connected to theotherendoftheinstrument LINE andthe headisincontact
withthecircuit undertest, andthe TFRT testkey ispressed. The LCDdisplays
the measuredvalue.Afterthemeasured value is fixed, the absorbance or
polarization indexcan be read.
Afterthetestiscompleted,press “”toview thedivisorof the
absorptionratioor polarization indexvalue(suchas the valueof 60Sin
“60:15S”mode).Press “”to view the dividend of theabsorption ratio
orpolarization index value (suchasthe value of15S in “60:15S”mode).Press
"" or "" again to return.
7.4Polarization Index (PI) and AbsorptionRatio (DAR) Applications:
Inengineering,insulation resistance and absorption ratio (or
polarization index)can reflectthedegree of moisturein theinsulation of
generators,oil-immersedpowertransformers andotherequipment.Thevalue
oftheabsorptionratio(orpolarizationindex)decreasesafterthe
insulationiswet (seeFigure1),so it isanimportantindicatorof whether
the insulation isaffected by moisture.
Itshouldbepointed outthatsometimestheinsulation hasobviousdefects
(forexample,theinsulation breaksdown under highpressure), and the
absorption ratio orpolarizationindex value is stillgood. The absorption
ratio orpolarizationindex cannot beused tofindother localinsulation
defectsotherthanmoistureand dirt.

off every time youturn it on.
9Alarm Settings
Afterpower on, longpress “”to turnon and off the alarmfunction.
Longpress “SET”key to settheresistancealarmvalue.Press “”or
“”key to change the currentdigit size,then press “SET”key to save
and exit. Whenthemeasured voltagevalueisgreater than the alarm critical
set value or the insulation resistance value is lessthanthealarmcritical
setvalue andthe alarm functionisturnedon,theinstrumentflashesthe
“”symbol and issuesa “beep-beep-beep--”alarm sound.The maximumvalue
of the voltage alarm setting is 600V, and the maximum value of the ground

10 Data Lock/Storage
Afterthemeasurementiscompleted,shortpress" MEM"keytolockthecurrent
displaydata, andautomaticallyserial storage. Ifthestorage isfull, the
instrumentdisplaysthe"FULL"symbol.Asshowninthefollowingfigure:the
measureddata is 1258m ω,and the "MEM"display is stored as the third set
of data.
11 Data Review/Deletion
Afterbootingormeasuring, press the"MEM"button(more than3seconds)
toenter the data lookup, and store thedata read interface " MR"symbol display.
Pressthe" "or" "keyto select the datacorrespondingto the arraynumber
with a step value of 1, press " "or" "to select the array number with a
stepvalueof10,andpress"MEM" to exit. See below
