Insert the cu tube into the opening provided on the side of
the device as shown in the picture.
3. Measurement Procedure
ATTENTION
• Find time to relax by sitting in a quiet atmosphere for some
time before measurement.
• Eorts by the patient to support the arm can increase the
blood pressure. Make sure you are in a comfortable, relaxed
position and do not activate any muscles in the arm during
measurement.
• Always measure on the same arm (normally left).
• Remove any garment that ts closely to your upper arm. Do
not roll the sleeve since it can squeeze your hand and this can
lead to false results.
• Use only clinically approved original cu
• If you want to follow the results of your blood pressure meas-
urements, always perform measurements at the same time of
day, since blood pressure changes during the course of the
day.
• Measurements should be done after a 5 minute rest to ensure
accuracy.

6
3.1. Fitting the cu
1. Pass the end of the cu through the at
metal ring so that a loop is formed.
2. Place the cu over the left upper arm
so that tube is closer to your lower arm.
3. Lay the cu on the arm so that the low-
er edge of the cu lies approximately 2 to 3
cm above the elbow.
4. Tighten the cu by pulling the end and
close the cu by axing the velcro. There
should be little free space between the arm
and the cu. Cu that does not t properly
results in false measurement values. Cloth-
ing must not restrict the arm. Any piece of
clothing which does must be removed.
5. Lay your arm on a table so the cu is at
the same height as your heart. If the upper
arm artery lies considerably lower or higher
than the heart, a false higher or lower blood
pressure will be measured! A variation of 15
cm between cu and heart level can result in
a reading error of + or - 10mm Hg.
Make sure the tube is not kinked.
6. Remain seated quietly for two minutes
before you begin the measurement.

3.2. Measuring procedure
To carry out measurement
1. Press ON/OFF button, device is
switched on, where you will see many seg-
ments display for about 2 secs, then there
ashes a downward triangle, which means
device is automatically lowering pressure
left in the cu, you can hold down quick re-
lease valve to speed up the process.
2. Once cu pressure is completely re-
leased, you will hear 3 short beeps, with a
steady“0”shows on
3. Grasp the pumping bulb with your free
hand and inate the cu, during which an
upward triangle keeps ashing.
4. Stop pumping when the upward trian-
gle terminates ashing, device then starts to
deate.
5. Lay down the pumping ball and re-
main in a quiet and relaxed sitting position.
The measurement now proceeds on its own
and is taken automatically.

8
If no measurement takes place and all
that appears in the display is a ashing, up-
wards pointing arrow , pump the ball once
again and inate to a higher pressure (see
clause Inating further given below). When
the device detects a pulse, a heart symbol in
the display starts to ash and a beep is heard
for every heart beat.
3.3. Reading measurement results
When the measurement has been con-
cluded, a long beep tone sounds. The meas-
ured systolic and diastolic blood pressure
values, as well as the pulse are now dis-
played, and there ashes a downward trian-
gle indicating people to release the rest of air
pressure in the cu.
The cu pressure can now be quickly re-
leased by pressing the quick release valve at
the pumping bulb.
Note
To prolong the batteries’ life the device
switches o automatically if no button is
pressed for 3 minutes. Otherwise you can
switch it o by pressing the ON/OFF button.
3.4. Inating further
If the cu is not inated suciently, the
measurement is stopped after a few seconds
and a ashing arrow pointing upwards ap-
pears in the display. It is then necessary to in-
ate at least 20 mmHg higher than the previ-
ous value till cu pressure displays again on
the LCD.The instruction to inate further can

appear several times if the pressure is still
not sucient.
ATTENTION:
If the cu is inated too far (over 300
mmHg), appears in the display and a
warning signal is sounded. The cu pressure
must then be immediately released using the
quick-release valve at the pumping bulb!
3.5. Discontinuing a measurement
If it is necessary to interrupt a blood pres-
sure measurement for any reason (e.g the
patient feels unwell), the quick-release valve
at the pumping bulb can be pressed at any
time. The device then immediately lowers
the cu pressure automatically.

5. Error Messages/Troubleshooting
If an error occurs during a measurement,
the measurement is discontinued and a cor-
responding error code is displayed (picture:
error no. 2)
Error No. Possible cause(s) / Solutions
ERR 1 The systolic pressure was determined, but then
the pressure in the cu went down to less than
20 mmHg (diastolic blood pressure can’t be meas-
ured). The tube may have loosened after the systo-
lic pressure has been determined. Further possible
reason: Pulse could not be detected.
ERR 2 Unnatural pressure impulses inuence the meas-
urement result. Reason: the arm was moved during
the Measurement (Artefact)
ERR 5 The measured reading indicated an unacceptible
dierence between systolic and diastolic pres-
sures. Take another reading following directions
carefully. Contact your doctor if you continue to
get unusual readings.
Other possible errors and their solutions
If problems occur when using the device, the following points
should be checked:

11
Malfunction Remedy
The display remains
blank when the device
is switched on although
the batteries are in
place.
1. Check battery installation/ polar-
ity.
2. Remove the batteries and if the dis-
play is unusual, then exchange them
for new ones.
The pressure does not
rise although you are
inating the bulb.
Check the connection of the cu tube
and connect properly.
The device frequently
fails to measure, or the
values measured are
too low or high.
1. Fit the cu correctly on the arm.
2. Before starting measurement make
sure that clothing is not exerting
pressure on the arm. Take articles of
clothing o if necessary.
Measure blood pressure again in
complete peace and quiet.
Every measurement re-
sults in dierent values,
although the device
functions normally and
normal values are dis-
played.
Please re-read the clause Measuring
procedure above.
Blood pressure values
dier from those meas-
ured at the doctor’s.
Record daily values and consult your
doctor.
Note
Blood pressure is subject to uctuations even in healthy peo-
ple. Please remember that comparable blood pressure meas-
urements always require the same time and the same con-
ditions! These are normally quiet conditions. If you follow the

12
correct procedures described above and still get the uctuations
of blood pressure of more than 15 mmHg and/or you repeatedly
hear irregular pulse tones please consult your doctor.
ATTENTION
Should any technical malfunctions arise in the blood pressure
monitor, please contact the point of sale where you bought the
device or Service Centre Gamma-Medica. Never attempt to re-
pair the instrument yourself!
Any unauthorized opening of the instrument invalidates all
warrantee claims.
6. Care and maintenance
Do not expose the device to either extreme
temperatures, humidity, dust or direct
sunlight.

types of stress through twisting or buck-
ling in order not to damage the sensitive
air-tight bubble.
Clean the device with a soft, dry cloth. Do
not use gas, thinners or similar solvents.
Spots on the cu can be removed carefully
with a damp cloth and soapsuds. Do not
submerge the cu in water!
Handle the tube carefully. Keep the hose
away from sharp edges.

13
Do not drop the monitor or treat it roughly
in any way.

9. Important information on blood pressure and its
measurement
9.1. What is blood pressure?
Blood pressure is the pressure that your blood extends to the
vascular walls. Blood pressure is necessary to provide for constant
blood ow inside the body. Thanks to it the cells get oxygen that
provides for their normal functioning. The heart performs the
function of a “pump”, sending blood to the blood vessels. Each
heart beat creates a certain level of the blood pressure.

15
There are 2 kinds of blood pressure: a systolic (upper) one,
which corresponds to the heartbeat pushing blood into the arte-
riae; and a diastolic (lower) one, which means the blood pressure
between two heartbeats.
Blood pressure is subject to uctuations during the day even
in healthy people. The uctuations are inuenced by a number of
factors – time of day, person’s condition, physical or mental activ-
ity, environment, etc.

An increase of blood pressure increases the burden onto the
heart, aects blood vessels making their walls thick and less elas-
tic. One of the features of the hypertension is its ability to remain
unnoticed for the patient at its early stages. That’s why the self-
control of the blood pressure is so important. With the illness
progressing, headaches and regular dizziness appear, the sight
declines, the functioning of vitalses (encephalon, heart, kidneys,
blood vessels) breaks down. Without special treatment the com-
plicationsofhypertensionmightbekidneydamages,breast-pang,
paralytic stroke, aphasia, dementia, heart attack and stroke.
9.2. Which values are normal?
The world standard as for the norms of the blood pressure is

17
• The diagnosis of hypertension requires from the patient to
combine medical treatment prescribed by the doctor and
mode of life correction.
• People with normal pressure and high normal pressure are rec-
ommended to carry out self-control of their tension in order
to timely take measures to decrease the blood pressure level
down to the optimal one without using any medications.
• For people more than 50 years old high level of systolic blood
pressure (higher than 140 mmHg) is more crucial than diasto-
lic pressure.
• Even with blood pressure being normal, people run the bigger
risk of hypertension development with advancing age.

18
ATTENTION
If you have normal results of blood pressure measured under
calm conditions but your results are excessively high when meas-
ured under the conditions of physical or mental exhaustion, this
might be a sign of so called brittle (that is unstable) hypertension.
If you suspect that, please consult your doctor.
When measured correctly, if diastolic blood pressure is more
than 120 mmHg, it is necessary to call the doctor immediately.
9.3. What can be done to lower/maintain the level of blood pressure?
Recommendation
How much the
systolic blood
pressure can
be lowered
- Try to maintain the weight which
is considered standard for your
age. Decrease overweight if any!
5 – 20 mmHg
with every 10
kilos of weight
reduction
- Avoid salt overuse (it’s recom-
mended to use no more than 6 g
per day)!
2 – 8 mmHg
- Avoid eating fat food! Introduce
to your diet some food that is rich
in dietary ber (fruits, vegetables)
8 – 14 mmHg
- Refuse from smoking outright!
- Use only limited amount of alco-
hol (bier – 350 g, or vine – 150 g,
or vodka – 50 g)!
- Restrain the usage of caeine
(coee)!
2 – 4 mmHg
