1.2 Operation System & Art Program Compatibility.
1.2.1 OS Compatibility
GAOMON PD1161 Pen Display is NOT a standalone product. It can’t be used alone. It must connect
to a laptop or desktop computer which runs Windows 7 or above version OS, or Mac 10.12 or
above version OS. It doesn’t work with Chromes OS, or Linux Os.

Our tablets are compatible with most drawing software.

2.How to set up PD1161 on Windows/Mac?
2.1 How to connect the PD1161?
1.As shown on the below, connect the pen display to your computer with attached power adapter,
HDMI cable and USB Cable.
1) Connect your PC and the display with integrated cable.
2) Plug the power adapter into the cable power connector and turn it 90 ° to ensure that the plug
does not come off and connect the power adapter to the power source.
3) Turn on computer and switch on the display, the LED indicator will show the current status:
Green means working normal, Red means no signal.
Please remember to press the power button of the display to power on the display
2.If you use a desktop, please read this step carefully. If not, please read the next step.
When you are using a desktop computer, please note that the number 1 (standard HDMI type A)
connector should plug into the HDMI socket of the graphics card (in Area B), not that of the
mainboard (in Area A).
Below is the rear of a computer, just for an example.

3.If your computer does not have an HDMI interface, you need to purchase an HDMI adapter or
docking station separately even if there is no HDMI, ordinary computers will have other video
interfaces. Such as VGA or DP interface. Then you need to buy the corresponding VGA to HDMI or
DP to HDMI adapter.
Please note ! We do not recommend ordinary usb A to HDMI adapters, which are not very
compatible with image signals.
2.2 How to set up on Windows OS?
1.Close all art programs and anti-virus program first.
Make sure there is no anti-virus program running in hidden box. (You can still run anti-virus
program while the issue gets confirmed and fixed)
2.Download driver here: https://GAOMON.net/ and install the driver.
3.Install the driver.
--Right-click the driver setup icon, whose file extension is ‘.exe’, in the installation file and select
‘Run as administrator’ from the dropdown list.
(Run as an administrator before installation, not after installation.)

4.Don’t change the installation path while installing.
5.Replug all cables correctly and firmly.
6.After installing GAOMON Driver, please test whether the pen can move cursor like the mouse
normally. If the pen can move cursor like mouse normally, you can customize express keys inside
GAOMON Driver now.
7.Please download drawing programs online to use with GAOMON PD1161. Our tablets are
compatible with most drawing software. Free software like Krita, Gimp, Fireplaca, Meidibang,
Inscape, Blender,etc. Or paid software like Photoshop, Adobe, Illustrator, Clip studio paint,
sketchbook, Sai version2, etc.

2.3 How to set up on Mac OS?
1.Close all art programs first.
2.Download driver here: https://GAOMON.net/
3.Install the driver.
-- Click the installation package ----Drag 'GAOMONTablet ' icon upon 'Applications' and hold on for a
while until it enters in 'Applications' folder---- Double click 'GAOMONTablet' and select 'Open' to run
the driver. Now the GAOMON Driver is installed.
If your Mac OS version are mac 10.14, 10.15, Mac Big sur or above OS,please kindly remember to
give GAOMON Driver permission to normally function on your mac.
If your Mac OS is lower than Mac 10.14, please skip following steps.
1)After installation, press one of the tablets express keys OR use the pen to click the screen until it
pops out a box 'Accessibility Access’. Then click 'Open System Preferences' to bring out 'Security &
Privacy' box. Please note! Don’t click “Deny”!

2)Click the lock icon and input your password-->Tick 'TabletDriverAgent'--> Click '＋' and it will
bring out another box.
3)Go Applications--> find out 'GAOMONTablet' and click 'Open'

4)Tick 'GaomonTablet' circled in red and click the lock icon. Then we can draw freely on the tablet.
5)Now you get the permission to use GAOMON Tablet Driver on your Mac OS.
4.Replug all cables correctly and firmly.
5.After installing GAOMON Driver, please test whether the pen can move cursor like the mouse
normally. If the pen can move cursor like mouse normally, you can customize express keys inside
GAOMON Driver now.
6.Please download drawing programs online to use with GAOMON PD1161. Our tablets are
compatible with most drawing software. Free software like Krita, Gimp, Fireplaca, Meidibang,

2.4 OSD Setting
AUTO: Before entering menu, it's function is auto adjustment. After entering menu,it's function is
back to previous menu.
➖: After entering menu, it's function is to down/left/decrease.

➕: After entering menu, it's function is to up/right/increase.
MENU: Press to call up the menu, after entering menu, it's function is confirm.
POWER : Power on/off the display.
Remark: Through the OSD menu, you can adjust the screen brightness, contrast, color and other
parameters.

3. Displaying Issues & Solutions.
3.1 How to do when it's indicating '' No Signal--Saving Power''
1.Please kindly note that ‘’No Signal’’ issue is related to the HDMI connection. Please make sure the
HDMI cable is well connected between PD1161 & computer.
2.If using windows computer, please press ‘’Windows+p’’ on keyboard, and make sure to choose
“Duplicate”or ”Extended”mode. Don’t choose ‘’Projector Only’’ or ‘’Computer Only’’. Otherwise,
it will cause no signal problems.
3.If you are using a HDMI adaptor.
It’s best to use DVI/VGA/Display Port/type-c to HDMI adapter depending on whichever is on your
device. Please remember don’t use usb to HDMI adapter, because USB is mainly for data
transmission. It’s not good for video/signal transmission.
4.If there has no HDMI interface on the computer, please change another computer which comes
with HDMI port and make sure to plug the HDMI cable into graphic card, but not in mother board.
If the No Signal issue remains after trying above solutions, please take a video and send to
GAOMON SERVICE. We will apply warranty and make everything right for you. Don’t worry!
3.2 How to do when it's all black without displaying anything, and no
indicator light.
1.Please kindly note that, if it doesn’t display anything and no indicator light, it should be related to
the power cord connection. Please kindly check whether you have well connected the power cord.
2.Please change a different electricity socket.
3.If the issue remains, please take a video, and send to GAOMON SERVICE. We will apply warranty
and make everything right for you. Don’t worry!

3.3 How to do when the PD1161 only displays wallpaper of computer,
without any applications?
If PD1161 only shows the wallpaper of your computer, but without any programs. Usually setting
up extend mode but don’t select GAOMON screen as current work area.
Solution 1: Please open GAOMON Driver--Work Area--Choose PD1161 as work area--Save --Now
you can use the mouse to move the cursor from computer monitor to PD1161 to work.
Solution 2: If you are not familiar with Extend Mode.You can set Duplicate Mode, then PD1161 will
display exact same with your computer monitor.
Duplicate mode on Windows:
Set Duplicate Mode: Press ‘’Windows+p’’ on keyboard-- choose Duplicate mode.
Duplicate mode on Mac:
Set Mirror Mode: Click on the Apple icon in the top left corner---System preference---choose
“Display’’-- Select ‘’Mirror Displays.’’

4.Pen Issues & Solutions
4.1 How to do when GAOMON driver indicating ''No Device
Detected/Device disconnected'' and Pen not Working?
1.Please kindly note that it’s usually related to the USB connection. Please kindly make sure the
USB cable is well connected between PD1161 and computer.
2.Please change a different USB port on your computer to test.
3.Please test on another computer without GAOMON Driver installation. Let’s see whether the
pen can move the cursor like the mouse on another computer.
4.If the issue remains, please kindly record a video to show above situation when you change
another computer to GAOMON SERVICE. We will apply warranty and make everything right for you.
Don’t worry!
4.2 How to do when the issue only happens in Clip Studio Paint?
1.Please set inside Clip Studio Paint according to following path.
Preference --Tablet --Wintab
Preference--Performance--Allocate to application--100%
2.If the issue remains, please try to reinstall GAOMON Driver. Make sure no other brands tablet
driver installed on your computer please.
4.3 How to do when the issue only happens in GMIP?
1.Please set inside GIMP according to following path.
GIMP--Edit--Input Devices--Mode: Screen (remember to select Screen Mode for all of three) --Save.
2.If the issue remains, please try to reinstall GAOMON Driver. Make sure no other brands tablet
driver installed on your computer please.
4.4 How to do when the pen only lags in Photoshop?
1.Please try to reinstall GAOMON Driver. Make sure no other brands tablet driver installed on your
computer please.
2.Please set inside Photoshop according to following path.

3.Edit--Preference-- Uncheck ‘’Use Graphics Processor’’
4.Create a new canvas and zoom in it to 100%.
5.Click “Reset Brushes”in brush settings. (As following picture)
4.5 How to calibrate pen cursor?
1.Please set your computer under Duplicate Mode/Mirror Mode and test whether the issue
remains. Let me know if it works properly under duplicate.
Windows OS: Press ''windows+p'' -- choose ''Duplicate''.
Mac Os: System Preference" -- Choose "Displays"-- Click "Arrangement" -- Click the "Mirror
Displayss".
2.if the same issue still exists under Duplicate/Mirror mode, please try to calibrate during
GAOMON Driver:
--Please hold the pen more vertically when calibrate in driver. Don't tilt the pen too much.
--If still cannot get close as you want, try to click ''restore default'' directly and don’t click 9 red
points.

5.Other
5.1 How to customize express key functions in GAOMON driver?
Please kindly note that express keys are substitute of keyboard keys. If keyboard keys can realize
one function in a drawing program, the GAOMON tablet express keys can make it too.
For example, in Photoshop, keyboard key ‘‘e’’ can realize ‘‘eraser’’ function. If customize one
GAOMON Tablet express keys as letter ‘‘e’’, it can realize ‘‘eraser’’ function inside Photoshop too.
5.1.1 How to set up express keys in a drawing programs
1.Open the art program where you want to customize express keys, for example, Krita. After you
run this program, you can find it on the the upper right corner of GAOMON Driver. See picture
below.
Please kindly note ! If there has no Krita in the dropdown list, please click “Add a Program” and
find it in the list.

2. Go to the “Pen Tablet” interface and click “Express Key” to start customizing the hotkeys.
3. Click to delete the default settings, and press the key on your keyboard to enter a valid key or
a key combination.
4.Remember to select “Enable Express Keys” after setting.
