2004 ROOM AIR CONDITIONER
CAUTION! Before servicing any air conditioner, it is important to use hand and arm
protection, such as Kevlar®gloves and Kevlar®arm guards, to protect against sharp
edges and potential cuts and lacerations.
WARNING! To avoid personal injury, disconnect power before servicing this product.
If electrical power is required for diagnosis or test purposes, disconnect the power imme-
diately after performing the necessary checks.
RECONNECT ALL GROUNDING DEVICES
If grounding wires, screws, straps, clips, nuts, or washers used to complete a path to
ground are removed for service, they must be returned to their original position and
properly fastened.

Three New Model Series (Cool Only, Heat/Cool, Heat Pump)
New 26” ROOM AIR Conditioners are being introduced. The line-up includes COOL ONLY, HEAT
PUMP, AND HEAT/COOL models. This bulletin will introduce those models with examples from
electro-mechanical and electronic remote units. Basic disassembly for grille, blower, outdoor fan, and
dryer are the same. Model specific temperature charts, wiring diagrams, and other important product
information is located in the Tech Data sheet shipped with each air conditioner. Depending on model
and size, the air conditioner may have a power supply of 110, 208, or 230 Volts.

located in a plastic bag taped to the
front right side of the case, and is
accessed by removing the front grille.
See page 2 of this bulletin for
instructions on removing front grille.

GRILLE REMOVAL
Component Access:
Control components can be accessed by remov-
ing the Front Cover. The unit must be removed
from the case to access fans and refrigerant
components.
To Remove Grille:
1. Remove Filter and two screws.
2. Grasp cover at bottom and
pull forward and lift up.
3. Pull the grille out from the bottom
and lift up from the tabs at the
top of the case.
To Replace Grille:
1. Hook the tabs on the front grille even with
the tabs on the case and snap into place.
2. Replace the screws and filter.

The Fan operation can be set either for continous operation or cycle. The unit comes preset from the
factory for continous operation.
To change the setting:
Insert small screwdriver through the hole in the control cover and slide
the switch down for the fan to cycle, or up for continuous operation.

Touch Pad Models:
The maximum and minimum cool setting can be
adjusted by resetting a dip switch located on the
top of the control.
Models with Thermostat Knob:
To adjust the maximum and minimum setting,
remove the thermostat knob and reposition
screws to obtain the desired range. The range of
the temperature control is approximately 600F to
850F. Changing the screw locations limits the
rotation of the knob. Each hole location represents
approximately 30F.
FAN OPERATION ADJUSTMENT

CYCLE
When set at CYCLE (down) the fan
cycles on and off when heating and
cooling. When set at CONT (continous,
up) the fan runs all the time. Air condi-
tioner is shipped in the CONT setting.

VENT CONTROL
Vent control is located behind the front grille on the right side of the air discharge area. When set to
CLOSE, only the air inside the room will be circulated and conditioned. When set to OPEN, some
inside air is exhausted to the outside. The air conditioner is shipped with the vent CLOSED.
To Open or Close the Vent:
1. Remove the front Grille.
2. Remove the vent card screw.
3. Remove vent card, turn it over and replace
it by locating rear hole in card over locat-
ing pin inside air discharge and reattaching
screw at front.
NOTE:
Without removing unit from window and with the
Grille removed, you can service the control as-
sembly, thermostats, circuit board, run capacitor,
and temperature sensor.
To Service PC Board (electronic):
1. Remove PC Board Cover with 2 Phillips head
screws.
2. Remove 1 Phillips head shoulder bolt mounting
control panel to control enclosure.

To Remove PC Board (electronic):
1. Remove 2 Phillips screws mounting control
transformer to plastic housing.
2. Unplug wiring harness from PC board connec
tors (note harness to connector location),
CN2, CN1, CN4.
3. Unplug terminal connectors:
T1 White
T2 Orange
T3 Red
T5 Blue
T4 Black- Indoor fan motor
NOTE: Teminal ends are locking tabs. To remove,
use needle nose pliers, depress tab in center and
pull off wiring in the same motion.

BLOWER AND FAN SERVICE
The air conditioner will have to be removed from the window to service the indoor blower/motor and the
outdoor fan/motor.
To Service Blower Fan:
In order to access the fan and motor, you must
diasassemble the spacer plastic fan housing.
1. With front grille removed, cut foam gasket
on both sides of louver assembly. Remove
two screws and lift out assembly.
2. Remove two screws and two ground
wires. Lift out metal blower fan housing.
3. Remove spacer bracket to remove plastic
housing for motor access.

4. Remove 4 Phillips head screws that
mount plastic housing sides to coil hous-
ing.

NOTE: In order to service inside blower/outside
fan and motors, you will have to disassemble to
this point. Both blower/fan are mounted with a
5/16” nut.

CAPACITORS
The electronic air conditioner has 3 start/run
capacitors - one for each fan (blower/fan) and
compressor. They are accessed by removing the
grille, front pc board cover as previously de-
scribed. Technicians will have full access to the
capacitors with the pc board cover removed.

NOTE: Compressor capacitor has a snap-in
bracket to hold it in place.
