Howmuchtelephoneequipmentcanyouhaveinyourhome?
Eachitemismarked(usuallyonthebase)withaRENnumber.Forexample,yourRP7510
isREN1andmostBTphonesareREN1.TheRENnumbersofallyourequipment,added
up,mustnotexceed4.Otherwiseyou’lloverloadyourlineandyourequipmentmaynot
workproperly.
Thunderstorms
UnplugyourRP7510fromthetelephonesocketduringthunderstorms:iflightningstrikes
yourphoneline,itcoulddamagethemachine.Yourguaranteedoesnotcoverlightning
damage.

Step1:plugintothemains
• Plugtheadaptorleadintothebackofthemachine(besuretopushtheplugfully
in). Setthevolumecontroltomid-position.Thenplugtheadaptorintothewall
socketandswitchon.Don’tplugintothetelephonesocketyet.
• Theredlightcomeson,thedisplaywillcountto41;there’llbeabeep.Then‘00'
flashes.alternatelywith'Lo'. Waitforthebeepbeforecontinuing.
Step2:fitaleak-resistant,alkaline,PP3battery
Why?Becauseifyouhaveapowercut(orthemainssupplyisdisconnectedorswitched
off),whenpowerisrestoredorswitchedonagain,
• youwon’thavetore-settheclock;
• youwon’tloseyourmessages;and
• youwon’tloseanyoutgoingmessageyourecordedyourself.(Themachinecomes
withstandardoutgoingmessagesbutyoucanrecordyourown instead.)
Thebatterywillcomeintouseonlywhenthepoweriscutoffandwillsupportthememories
forseveralhours.Thebatterywilleventuallyrundownifpowerisnotrestored. (NBIfyou
plantoswitchthepowertothemachineoffforlengthyperiods,disconnectthemachine
fromthetelephonesocketandremovethebattery.You'llhavetosettheclockandrecord
anypersonaloutgoingmessageswhenswitchingthemachineonagainandrefittingthe
battery).
• Removethebatterycover(makesurethetelephoneisnotconnectedtothetelephone
socket).
• FitthePP3battery.Theconnectorwillonlyfitthecorrectwayround.
• Putthecoverbackon. '00'willflash.
• Ifthebatteryislow,‘Lo’flashes.Unplugfromthetelephonesocketandreplacethe
batteryasabove.
• Disposeofbatteriescarefully.Neverburnthemorletchildrenplaywiththem.

YoucansetthemachinetouseOGM1orOGM2. OGM2alsocutsinautomaticallyifthe
memory’sfull.
• EnsureMESSAGEDISPLAYison.Ifnot,pressON/OFF.
PressOGM1tohearOGM1(‘A1’appears).Waituntil‘00’appears,thenpressOGM2tohear
OGM2(‘A2’appears).Ifyou’rehappywiththesemessages,gotoStep5;ifyouwantto
recordnewones,seebelow.
Torecord new outgoingmessages

Additional safety
The apparatus does not incorporate an integral power on/off switch. To
disconnectthepower, eitherswitchoff the supply at themainspowersocket
or unplug the AC adaptor. When installing the apparatus, ensure that the
mains power socket is readily accessible.
The interconnection point between the AC adaptor output lead and the
apparatus power socket carries a Safety Extra-Low Voltage (SELV) and
indirectly, aTelecommunicationNetworkVoltage(TNV). Do not connectany
apparatus to the socket other than theType 751 AC adaptor supplied.
ThebatteryconnectorcarriesaTelecommunication NetworkVoltage(TNV)
andtheapparatus must be disconnected from the telephone line beforethe
battery compartment cover is removed to fit or change the battery.

Any other usage will invalidate the approval given to the apparatus if as a

The apparatus is approved for connection to direct exchange lines and to
approved, compatible PABXs. It cannot be guaranteed that the apparatus
will operate correctly under all conditions when connected to some PABXs.
If difficulties are experienced, please contact your supplier initially.
The apparatus has been approved for use with the Type 751 AC Adaptor.
Use of an alternative adaptor may invalidate this approval and lead to a
safetyhazardor damage.
