General Warnings
WARNINGS
Warnings identify possible hazards in procedures or conditions which, if not correctly followed,
could result in death, injury or other serious adverse reactions.
CAUTIONS
Cautions identify conditions or procedures which, if not correctly followed, could result in equipment
failure or damage.
WARNINGS
Use only accessories that have been designed or approved for use with this table.
Do not use electric tables in the presence of flammable gasses such as an
anaesthetic agent.
Maximum Load 325 Kg (715 lbs) distributed evenly.
Do not concentrate weight on either side of the table.
Plug acts as a disconnect device.
Do not allow children to play with the table at any time.
Adequately supervise children in the proximity of the table.

2. Installation
Ensure mains supply cable is not stretched when connected.
Ensure, during table use, no obstacles are in its path.
Ensure hand / foot switch tubes or leads are not trapped by moving parts of the table.
Battery Backup
The table should always be used with mains power connected.
The light on the control box indicates mains power is on.
Whilst 'on' batteries are trickle charged – in case of power failure.
To charge the accumulators, the control unit must be activated by shortly pressing one of the switch keys.
WARNING
Do not insert the 2-pin mains connector directly into a 3-pin 13A mains outlet.
Always use the adapter provided.
Plug acts as a disconnect device.
Use adapter if 3 pin 13A plug is required.

CAUTION
When not in use, switch table off.
CAUTION
Battery Backup is for the unlikely event of mains power failure / not normal use.

WARNING
Safely position patient before elevating table.
Position all electrical cables away from the moving parts.
Position Hand/Foot switch where accidental operation is not possible.
WARNING
Lock table wheels/castors prior to patient transfer or treatment.
The retractable castors are not designed for transportation of patients.
Disconnect and coil electrical cord away from moving parts prior to
repositioning table.
Press up to raise table

4. Optional Accessories - Operating Instructions
The accessories specifically designed for use with this product can be viewed on the Bobath 5 video
which can be found on the 2005 Catalogue CD Rom. The video covers a range of clinical procedures that
utilise these accessories and gives further details on fitting these items ready for use.
Fold-Down Safety Sides - Models 4604(Chrome) / 4605(Nylon Coated)
The Fold-down Safety Sides provide additional patient safety.
Patient Support Handles - Model 4602
These handles assist standing and stepping procedures. Their offset design caters for both the smaller or
larger patient.
CAUTION
Ensure accessories are secure prior to use.
A) To raise the safety side when in the down position, lift and rotate
towards you through 180°. Once upright, push the safety side
downwards into the moulded block until located fully.
B) To lower the safety side from the upright position, lift out of
the moulded block and rotate through 180° into the down position.
A) To insert support handles, position pin into socket.
B) Secure by tightening locking knob.
C) To remove support handles, loosen locking knob and lift support
handles out of the socket.

Patient Support Loops - Model 4603
These can be fitted to either side or at the foot of the couch. They can be used for a wide range of sitting
or standing exercises, balance training and wheelchair transfers. When locating them into the fixing
brackets, make sure that the ‘spring pins’ locate in the holes in the box section for additional security and
ensure the locking knobs are secure prior to use.
A) To insert arm loop, position pin into socket.
B) Secure by tightening locking knob.
C) To remove arm loop, loosen locking knob and lift arm loop
out of the socket.

4. Optional Accessories - Operating Instructions
Arm/Leg Support - Model 4607
This accessory can be fitted to either side or at the foot end of the couch. The padded support surface can
be adjusted and set at 3 different angles by releasing the red knobs at each side of the attachment and
relocating the integral pins into different holes. This attachment is used for a wide range of upper and
lower limb exercises and mobilisation techniques. It may also be used for prone standing procedures
where it can be used in combination with the knee block for additional support. A patient harness (Model
TT1 - supplied with knee block) can be used for added safety and is located and secured via the chrome
fixing bars of the Arm/Leg attachment frame.
To adjust Arm Support Table:-
A) Locate Arm Support table into bracket.
B) Secure by tightening locking knob.
C) To adjust angle of Arm Support Table, loosen lever
on underside of pad, adjust to desired position and
secure by tightening lever.

Knee Block & Low Level Seat - Model 4608
The knee block is located and positioned into brackets on the base frame at the foot end of the couch via
chrome plated right angled brackets that are inserted and then secured on each side by locking knobs. The
knee block can be adjusted for height and is easily removable when not in use. This attachment provides
additional stability for the patient during standing procedures and it can also be used conjunction with the
Arm/Leg Support for prone standing. The patient harness provided can be secured around the chrome
bars of the Arm/Leg attachment or the Support Loops when used in combination with either of these
accessories.
Knee Block Low Level Seat
The knee block can also ‘double up’ as a low level seat for seated assessments and ‘sit to stand’
procedures. It must be located into the brackets just below the upholstery surface at the foot end of the
couch and secured by the locking knobs on each side. The chrome right angled brackets are not required
for this procedure.
Breathing Hole and Plug
To remove seat frame:-
A) Loosen locking knob on underside.
B) Slide seat frame horizontally away from couch.
To refit seat frame:
A) Locate seat frame into tubes.
B) Secure by turning locking knob on underside clockwise to tighten.

5. Cleaning and Decontamination
Frequency of routine table cleaning will depend on exact application.
CLEANING / DECONTAMINATION
1. Wear protective clothing: plastic disposable apron and gloves.
2. Disconnect any mains supply and lock table wheels.
3. Control handsets can be wiped over using a 70% Isopropranol alcohol wipe.
4. Prepare a solution of warm water and neutral detergent.
5. Start at the top of the table and work your way downwards.
6. Wipe over head end working towards mid torso.
7. Wipe over remaining horizontal patient surface, working towards foot end.
8. Wipe all horizontal parts under the patient surface.
9. Wipe all vertical parts under the patient surface.
10. Wipe over shroud (if fitted).
11. Wipe over all parts of wheels.
12. Ensure all parts of the table are dry before re-use.
13. Safely discard cleaning materials.
14. Wash hands thoroughly.
If DECONTAMINATING then repeat steps 1) to 14) using a dilute Hypochlorite / warm water mixture
(10,000ppm) instead of warm water and soap.
Put table back into service.
WARNING
Do not use Alkalis or other organic solvents for routine cleaning.
Replace torn or damaged vinyl immediately.
Always cover vinyl with fresh paper or sheet between patients.
If contamination is known or suspected always decontaminate table before use.

6. Troubleshooting – Electric Actuator
Symptom Possible cause Action

fully inserted into the actuator
Disconnect power cord from mains
supply. Leave unit for 1 minute then
re-connect power cord.
If the problem persists consult your local Akron Supplier.
7. Maintenance
Check table visually before use.
Carry out routine servicing every six months or more frequently if in heavy use.
Routine servicing or repair must only be performed by suitably qualified person.
Examine the table for any signs of damage. Make sure that all nuts, bolts and other fasteners are tight. Do
not over tighten as this may cause binding.
Upholstery fasteners should be checked, tightened or replaced if necessary.
Check section hinge pins to ensure that no pin protrudes.
Check gas strut controls, throughout the full range of movement for locking and assistance.
Check hydraulic tables for smooth operation and signs of leakage.
Examine the flexible cables for cuts, abrasions, kinking or other deterioration and replace if necessary.
Ensure that the power supply connector plug is securely attached.
Check mains plug connections are tight and fuse is correctly rated (5A).
WARNING
Before commencing any maintenance activity, disconnect the table from the
electrical supply. Plug acts as disconnect device.
WARNING
All electrical checks should be performed by a suitably qualified and licensed
electrician.
Neither BLUE or BROWN wires are to be connected to the earth terminal of a
three pin plug.

Handle with care. Do not drop. Avoid shock or violent impact.
The equipment should be stored in a clean, dry and well ventilated area. The following limits apply
during transport and for a storage period of up to 15 weeks:
