In order to guarantee a safe and reliable operation of the FDC-B France swing door drive
unit, it is absolutely necessary that the assembly, operating, maintenance and repair

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Normal operation
The swing door drive unit FDC-B France allows an automatic opening and closing of
swing doors. The functional characteristics of the door can be determined by means
of the program switch as well as of the internal switches and potentiometers.
Program switch position
1 = AUTOMATIC Automatic operation. All the control elements are active. The
installation is not locked.
0 = MANUAL Corresponds to the operating mode without mains power. The
door wing can be manually pushed to the open position, while
or the closure is achieved by means of spring power.
NIGHT The door is locked during the night.
2 = OPEN The installation opens and remains in the open position.
Control
The door opening is performed either automatically or manually via the control elements.
The door is automatically closed upon expiration of the programmed hold-open time.
If the Push-and-Go function is provided, the door only requires a short manual push,
upon which it is automatically opened by the drive unit.

4
Safety functions
Obstruction in opening direction
If the door leaf meets an obstacle during the opening motion, the drive unit is stopped.
The leaf is closed upon expiration of the hold-open time. The next opening motion is
carried out with the programmed opening speed; the leaf moves up to the position
of the obstacle and from there - provided that the latter has been removed in the
meantime - with reduced speed up to the programmed OPEN position. The following
opening movement is then performed in the normal manner.
Obstruction in closing direction
If the door leaf encounters an obstacle during the closing motion, the drive unit is
stopped and the door leaf opens up to the OPEN position. During the following clo-
sing motion, the door leaf moves at the programmed closing speed up to the position
of the obstacle and from there - provided that the obstacle has been removed in the
meantime - with slow speed up to the CLOSED position. The next closing movement
is then performed in the normal manner.
Limitation of the force
The static drive power on the main closing edge is limited to 150 N.

5
Function in the event of a mains failure
If a mains failure occurs, the door can be manually pushed to the open position, upon
which its controlled closure from any position is ensured by spring power, whereby

Function in the event of a re alarm
Independently of the present door position, the door is closed in a controlled fashion
by means of spring power. After the door has been opened by an escaping person, it
is closed in a controlled way by spring power.

OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE
Safety
In order to guarantee the safety of the users at all times, it is abso-
lutely necessary that the swing door installation be checked by a
competentspecialist,priortotherstcommissioningandatleast
once a year during the operation, with regard to its safe operating
condition! The result of the check-up must be documented in the
control booklet.
Should any malfunctions occur which are detrimental to the safety
of the door users, the mains supply must be disconnected. A manual
operation of the door is still possible. The drive unit may only be
taken back into operation after the malfunction has been repaired
by a specialist and all risks have been eliminated!
Transparents door wings (or their surfaces) must be clearly reco-
gnizable, e.g. by means of a permanent marking or dyed materials.
Care and checking to be carried out by the operator
Before carrying out any work on the swing door drive unit, make sure
that the mains power supply has been disconnected. The drive unit
covering must not be removed!
Never use running water or high-pressure machines for cleaning
the area of the drive unit! Do not use any abrasive or chemical
products for cleaning the installation!
Checking and maintenance to be carried out by the after-sales
service
Prior to the rst commissioning, and at least once a year during
normal operation, the safe operating condition of the installation
must be checked by an authorized specialist!
We recommend to conclude a maintenance contract with the manu-
facturer respectively with his authorized distribution partner.
The checking and maintenance work must be performed according to the checklist
contained in the control booklet FDC-B France. The correct execution must be con-
rmedbytheafter-salesservicetechnicianwhoentersthedateandhissignaturein

PROLONGED OPERATING INTERRUPTION
If the swing door installation is not going to be used for more than 3 months, it is
recommended to pull out the power plug.
If, at the moment of taking the installation back into operation, the last check-up dates
back to more than one year, the installation must be checked by a competent specialist
before it is taken back into operation.
SHUT-DOWN/DISPOSAL
No particular measures have to be taken by the operator with regard to the shut-down,
dismantling and disposal of the installation. The installation must be disassembled into
its individual parts in order to be able to recycle them.
We advise you to entrust your after-sales service with the dismantling and disposal
of your installation who wil guarantee (against invoice) that this work is carried out
according to the rules of environmental protection.
