SAFETY
The swing door drive unit FDC-E has been designed for the automatic operation of
swing doors. For any use outside of the dened application purposes or limits, the
manufacturer respectively his distribution agent decline all responsibility.
In order to guarantee a safe and reliable operation of the swing door drive unit FDC‑E,
it is absolutely indispensable that the conditions prescribed by the manufacturer with
regard to installation, operation, maintenance and repair be strictly fullled. If these
regulations are not observed, the manufacturer respectively his distribution agent
cannot be held responsible.
Should it not be possible to eliminate immediately any malfunctions
which are liable to cause a dangerous situation, the operator of the
installation has to be informed and, if required, the installation must
be taken out of operation.
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Normal operation
The swing door drive unit FDC-E allows an automatic opening and closing of swing
doors. The functional characteristics of the door can be determined by means of the
program switch as well as the internal switches and potentiometers.
Program switch position:
1 = AUTOMATIC Automatic operating mode. All the control elements are active.
The installation is not locked.
0 = MANUAL Corresponds to an operation without mains power. The door can
or be manually opened and closed.
NIGHT In cases where an external electric door opener is provided,
the door will be locked during the night.
2 = OPEN The installation opens and remains in the OPEN position.
Control
The door is opened either automatically or manually via the control elements. It is
closed as soon as the programmed hold-open time has expired. If the Push and Go-
function is enabled, a manual push against the door causes the drive unit to carry out
an automatic opening motion.

3
Safety functions
Obstruction in opening direction
If the door wing encounters an obstacle during the opening motion, the drive unit is
stopped. The door wing is closed as soon as the hold-open time has expired. Upon
the next opening motion, the door wing moves at the programmed opening speed up
to the position where the obstacle has been detected and, provided that the latter has
been removed in the meantime, from there at slow speed up to the programmed OPEN
position. The following opening motion will then be carried out in the normal fashion.
Obstruction in closing direction
If the door wing encounters an obstacle during the closing motion, the drive unit is
stopped and the door wing reopened up to the OPEN position. During the next closing
motion, the door wing moves at the programmed closing speed up to the position
where the obstacle has been detected and, provided that the latter has been removed
in the meantime, from there at slow speed up to the CLOSED position. The following
closing motion will then be carried out in the normal fashion.
Limitation of the power
The static driving power on the main closing edge is limited to 150 N.
Function in the event of a mains failure
In the event of a mains failure, the door can be manually opened and closed.

OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE
Safety
In order to guarantee the safety of the users at all times, the swing
door installation must be checked with regard to its operational by
a competent specialist prior to the rst commissioning and at least
once a year during operation! The result must be documented in
the control booklet.
Should any malfunctions occur which might be detrimental to the
safety of the users, the mains supply must be disconnected. A manual
operation is possible as before. The drive unit may only be taken
back into operation after the malfunction has been expertly repaired
and all danger has been eliminated!
Transparents door wings (or their surfaces) must be clearly reco-
gnizable, e.g. by means of a permanent marking or dyed materials.
Care and checking to be carried out by the operator
Before carrying out any manipulations on the swing door drive unit,
the mains power supply must be disconnected! The drive unit co-
vering must not be removed!
Never use running water or high-pressure machines for cleaning
the area of the drive unit! Do not use any scratching tools nor any
chemical cleaning agents!
Checking and maintenance to be carried out by the after-sales
service
Prior to the rst commissioning, and at least once a year during
operation, the installation must be checked by a competent specialist
with regard to its operational safety!
We advise that you conclude a maintenance contract with the
manufacturer respectively with his authorized distribution partner.
The checking and maintenance work must be carried out according to the checklist
in the control booklet FDC‑E. The correct execution must be conrmed by the after‑
sales service technician who enters the date and his signature in the control booklet.

PROLONGED OPERATING INTERRUPTION
If the swing door installation is not going to be used for more than three months, it is
recommended to pull out the mains plug.
If at the moment of recommissioning, the last checkup dates back to more than one
year, the installation must be checked by a competent person prior to taking it back
into operation.
SHUT-DOWN/DISPOSAL OF THE INSTALLATION
No particular measures have to be taken by the operator with regard to the shut‑down,
dismantling and disposal of the installation. The installation must be disassembled into
its individual parts, in order to be able to recycle the different materials.
