Installation and Maintenance Manual

General Safety Information
FBF-C1D1 FLOOD LED LUMINAIRE
• To reduce the risk of death, personal injury or property damage from re, electric shock, falling parts, cuts/abrasions, and other
hazards read all warnings and instrucons included with and on the xture box and all xture labels. Before installing, servicing,
or performing roune maintenance upon this equipment, follow these general precauons.
• Commercial installaon, service and maintenance of luminaires should be performed by a qualied licensed electrician.
• Do not install damaged product!
• This xture is intended to be connected to a properly installed and grounded UL listed juncon box.
• Make sure that the supply voltage is the same as the luminaire voltage.
• Do not install where the marked operang temperatures exceed the ignion temperatures of the hazardous atmosphere.
• Do not operate in ambient temperatures above those indicated on the luminaire nameplate.
• All gasket seals must be clean and undamaged.
This xture is suitable for use in the following hazardous (classied) areas as dened by the Naonal Electrical Code (NEC)
and Canadian Electrical Code (CEC):
Installation
THE BUILDING PHASE
If the cable or cord of this luminaire is damaged, it shall be
exclusively replaced by the manufacturer or his service agent or a
similar qualied person in order to avoid a hazard. The luminaires
should not be connected to a temporary electricity supply. An
unstable supply can damage the electronics in the luminaire.
Always connect the luminaires when there is no incoming voltage.
Any plasc lm covering the opc must be removed before the
luminaires are put into long-term use.
CONNECTION
The supply cable must be of a quality that can withstand exposure
to UV radiaon and heat from the luminaires and light sources.
Even if temperature condions inside the luminaires are within the
requirements, it may be that the power cable is not of a sucient
quality to withstand this. The supply cable must be protected from
direct radiaon from the orescent light sources by means of
lightproof casing or similar. If the supply cable is routed through the
luminaire, both possible UV radiaon and the impact of heat from the
luminaire components on the cable needs to be taken into account.
DRIVER
The lifeme of the driver is inuenced by temperature and the
quality of the supply voltage. Rated failure of the components is
.2% per 1000 hours at the luminaire’s maximum allowed ambient
temperature. However, a loss of around 10% may be expected
during this period. Transients and spikes, as well as connecon to
disturbed mains supply, will drascally reduce lifeme.
Maintenance
CLEANING
Regular cleaning of luminaires is essenal for opmal lighng.
Luminaires are cleaned in a de-energized state. Electrical
components and connecons should not be exposed to water
or moisture. Be aware that LED luminaires are sensive to
electrostac discharge (ESD). Cleaning intervals are normally
consistent with those planned during the project planning or
when light sources are changed.
Luminaires can be cleaned with a neutral detergent (pH 7). The
detergent is mixed in lukewarm water. The mixture is then applied
with a microber cloth, sponge or similar. Aerwards, soap residues
should be removed using a so clean microber cloth dampened
with water. Do not spray cleaning soluons directly onto the
luminaires as residual detergent may collect in the cover, reector
or opcal components, and be dicult to remove later. Organic
solvent-based and strongly alkaline detergents should be avoided,
as they can damage components in the short and long term. This
applies parcularly to components made from various plascs.
Glossy reecve surfaces should be dusted regularly to ensure
opmum lighng. A brand new, clean and dry microber cloth is
recommended for dusng. For removal of grease and ngerprints,
reector material can be sprayed with a detergent for cleaning
windows, glass, computer screens etc. and dried with a brand new,
clean and dry microber cloth. Any remaining detergent can be
removed by applying clean water and then be wiped clean with
a brand new, clean and dry microber cloth. Reectors should be
cleaned with care in order to prevent damage to reector materials.
Luminaires with high IP-class and without any plasc parts, e.g.
stainless steel bodied xtures are able to resist washing processes
with aggressive detergents. Aer using aggressive detergent, it
is important to rinse the luminaire properly with clean water to
remove any residue.
REPLACEMENT OF INTERCHANGEABLE
LIGHT SOURCES
Always use gloves when replacing light sources so that you do not
leave ngerprints on the reecng surface. Light sources should be
replaced when the luminaires are in a de-energized state. The light
sources being replaced must be replaced with similar ones in order
to maintain the characteriscs of the luminaires.
Light sources at the end of their service life can produce heat above
the expected level. This can damage luminaires’ components. It is
always nancially wise to plan the replacement of light sources in
groups. Check the lifeme of the light source you use on our website
or consult your light source supplier. Then plan the intervals at which
you want to replace your light sources. Some light sources are likely
to fail before their indicated lifeme and may have to be replaced
before the planned group replacement.
LED LUMINAIRES
LED Luminaires have a tolerance in their light output of +-10%. As for
convenonal light sources LED light sources will have a reducon in
light output during their lifeme. When exchanging an LED luminaire
with a new one you may be able to see a dierence in light output
compared with the old luminaires. This is a consequence of technical
changes and improved light output, new LED luminaires may have
slightly dierent lighng qualies compared to the old ones. For
more informaon, please visit www.glamox.com.
REPLACING DRIVER
The lifeme of the driver is inuenced by temperature and the
quality of the supply voltage. Rated failure of the components is
.2% per 1000 hours at the luminaire’s maximum allowed ambient
temperature. However, a loss of around 10% may be expected
during this period. Transients and spikes, as well as connecon to
disturbed mains supply, will drascally reduce lifeme.
Drivers should be replaced by qualied personnel and always when
the luminaires have been de-energized. For LED luminaires it is
important to establish an EPA (Electrostac Protected Area) before
any replacement of driver is conducted. This is due to LED light
sources are sensive to electrostac discharge (ESD).
WARNING: RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK
Disconnect or turn o power before installaon
or servicing.
Verify that supply voltage is correct by comparing
it with the luminaire label informaon.
Make all electrical and grounded connecons in
accordance with the Naonal Electrical Code (NEC)
and any applicable local code requirements.
All wiring connecons should be capped with UL
approved recognized wire connectors.
WARNING: RISK OF BURN
Allow xture to cool before handling.
Do not touch enclosure or light source.
Follow all manufacturer’s warnings,
recommendaons and restricons for: driver type,
burning posion, mounng locaons/methods,
replacement and recycling.
CAUTION: RISK OF INJURY
Wear gloves and safety glasses at all mes
when removing luminaire from carton, installing,
servicing or performing maintenance.
Avoid direct eye exposure to the light source
while it is on.
CAUTION: RISK OF FIRE
Keep combusble and other materials that can
burn away from lamp/lens.
Do not operate in close proximity to persons,
combusble materials or substances aected
by heat or drying.

NPT ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
Step 1: Inspect port and ng to ensure that both are free of
contaminants, such as excessive burrs and nicks.
Step 2: Apply a strip of an anaerobic liquid pipe sealant around
the male threads leaving the rst 2 threads uncovered. If no
sealant available use Teon tape (12.7mm x 0.1mm thick).
CAUTION: Teon tape and some pipe sealants are destrucve
to hydraulic components. Always use extreme cauon and
follow manufacturer’s recommendaons for proper applicaon
of any sealant in order to prevent contaminaon.

Step 3: Screw into port, nger ght.
Step 4: Wrench ght ng for total thread engagement
(3.5 to 6 turns). Do not back o to achieve alignment, this may
compromise the seal and cause leakage.
CAUTION: Never back o an installed pipe ng to achieve
proper alignment. Loosening installed pipe ngs will corrupt
the seal and contribute to leakage and failure. (*Applicable
