Installation tools
Installation accessories
No installation tools are provided with the device. Prepare them yourself as required.
Airflow direction of the device
The device can provide front-to-back or back-to-front airflow by using different fan trays.
Make sure the device has a correct airflow direction for ventilation at the installation site.

• The device has one primary grounding point and one auxiliary grounding point on the side
panel. The primary grounding point has a grounding sign and is located near the front
panel (with hard disks). In the following figure, the grounding cable is connected to the
primary grounding point.
• Connect the grounding cable to the device before mounting the device in a rack. To avoid
affecting installation of the chassis rails, install the grounding cable and mounting brackets
at the same side.
• The device provides multiple chassis rail installation positions on the side panels. Determine
the chassis rails installation position based on the rack depth and make sure the front ends
of the slide rails can reach out of the chassis rails.
• Install the mounting brackets at the front panel side or rear panel side of the device as
required. In the following figure, the mounting brackets are installed at the front panel side.

Wear an ESD wrist strap when installing the device. Make sure the wrist strap makes good
skin contact and is reliably grounded.

• Install a filler panel in an unused power supply slot to prevent dust from entering the chassis
and ensure good ventilation.
• You can mix AC and HVDC power supplies on the same device. Mixing any other different
types of power supplies is not supported.
• The device does not support hot swapping of MPUs, service modules, or interface modules.
• To avoid module damage, do not touch the components on interface modules.
• Install filler panels in unused slots to prevent dust from entering the chassis and ensure
good ventilation.
Installing modules
• Hard disks are not hot swappable.
• For the system to identify the disks, purchase disks from H3C.
• Hold a hard disk by its two sides and do not touch its components or squeeze, shake, or hit
the hard disk.
• Install a filler panel in an unused hard disk slot to prevent dust or objects from entering the
chassis.
• Before using a hard disk, execute the fdisk and format commands to partition and format it.
• Before removing a hard disk, you must use the umount command to unmount all partitions
on it.
• For adequate heat dissipation, you must install two fan trays of the same model for the
device.
• If a fan tray fails during device operation, replace it immediately.

• Before connecting a power cord, connect the grounding cable to the device and make sure
the device is reliably grounded.
•
To avoid bodily injury, connect the power cord first to the device and then to the power source.
The connection procedure is similar for AC and HVDC power cords. The example connects
an AC power cord.

Remove the filler panel from the hard disk slot and then push the
hard disk slowly into the slot along the guide rails.
