1. To reduce the risk of electric shock, ensure electricity has
been turned off at the circuit breaker or fuse box before
beginning.
2. All wiring must be in accordance with the National Electrical
Code “ANSI/NFPA 70” and local electrical codes. Electrical
installation should be performed by a qualified licensed
electrician.
3. The outlet box and support structure must be securely
mounted and capable of reliably supporting a minimum of 35
lbs (15.9 kg). Use only UL-listed outlet boxes marked “FOR
FAN SUPPORT.”
4. The fan must be mounted with a minimum of 7 ft (2.1m)
clearance from the trailing edge of the blades to the floor.
5. Avoid placing objects in the path of the blades.
6. To avoid personal injury or damage to the fan and other
items, be cautious when working around or cleaning the fan.
7. Do not use water or detergents when cleaning the fan or fan
blades. A dry dust cloth or lightly dampened cloth will be
suitable for most cleaning.
8. After making electrical connections, spliced conductors
should be turned upward and pushed carefully up into the
outlet box. The wires should be spread apart with the
grounded conductor and the equipment-grounding conductor
on one side of the outlet box and ungrounded conductor on
the other side of the outlet box.
9. All setscrews must be checked and retightened where
necessary before installation.
WARNING: To reduce the risk of electrical shock or fire, do
not use this fan with any solid-state fan speed control device.
It will permanently damage the electronic circuitry.
WARNING: To reduce the risk of personal injury, do not
bend the blade arms (also referred to as flanges), when
installing the brackets, balancing the blades or cleaning the
fan.
WARNING: Do not insert foreign objects between rotating
fan blades.
WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock or
personal injury, mount the fan to the outlet box marked
acceptable for fan support with the screws provided with the
outlet box.
CAUTION: To reduce the risk of personal injury, use only

We warrant the fan motor to be free from defects in workmanship and material present at time of shipment from the factory for a period
of lifetime after the date of purchase by the original purchaser. We also warrant that all other fan parts, excluding any glass or acrylic
blades, to be free from defects in workmanship and material at the time of shipment from the factory for a period of one year after the
date of purchase by the original purchaser. We agree to correct such defects without charge or at our option replace with a comparable or
superior model if the product is returned. To obtain warranty service, you must present a copy of the receipt as proof of purchase. All
costs of removing and reinstalling the product are your responsibility. Damage to any part such as by accident, misuse, improper installa-
tion or by affixing any accessories, is not covered by this warranty. Because of varying climatic conditions this warranty does not cover
any changes in brass finish, including rusting, pitting, corroding, tarnishing or peeling. Brass finishes of this type give their longest useful
life when protected from varying weather conditions. A certain amount of “wobble” is normal and should not be considered a defect.
Servicing performed by unauthorized persons shall render the warranty invalid. There is no other express warranty. We hereby disclaim
any and all warranties, including but not limited to those of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose to the extent permitted by
law. The duration of any implied warranty which cannot be disclaimed is limited to the time period as specified in the express warranty.

MOUNTING OPTIONS
WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or
personal injury, mount the fan to an outlet box marked
acceptable for fan support using the screws provided with the
outlet box. An outlet box commonly used for the support of
lighting fixtures may not be acceptable for fan support and
may need to be replaced. If in doubt, consult a qualified
electrician.

To hang your fan where there is an existing fixture but no ceiling
joist, you may need an installation hanger bar (not included) as
shown above.
If your ceiling fan does not have an existing UL-listed mounting
box, then install one using the following instructions:
□Disconnect the power by removing the fuses or turning off
the circuit breakers.
□Secure the outlet box (not included) directly to the
building structure. Use appropriate fasteners and materials
(not included). The outlet box and its bracing must be able
to fully support the weight of the moving fan (at least 35
lbs.). Do not use a plastic outlet box.
The illustrations below show three different ways to mount the
outlet box (not included).

NOTE: You may need a longer downrod (12 in. or 24 in.) to
maintain proper blade clearance when installing on a steep,
sloped ceiling, please call Hampton Bay Customer Service for
longer downrods. The maximum angle allowable is 18° away
from horizontal. If the canopy touches the downrod, then
remove the decorative canopy bottom cover and turn the
canopy (B) 180° before attaching the canopy (B) to the
mounting bracket (A).
WARNING: If installing on a vaulted ceiling, face the
opening of the hanging bracket towards the high point of the
ceiling. Arrange electrical wiring around the back of the
hanging bracket and away from the bracket opening.

□Remove the two non-slotted canopy mounting screws
with lock washers (MM) from the canopy (B), and
loosen the slotted canopy mounting screw with lock
washer (MM) on the canopy (B).
□Remove the canopy (B) from the mounting bracket (A)
by turning the canopy (B) counterclockwise.
□Remove the cotter pin (NN) and clevis pin (OO), and
loosen the two collar setscrews (PP) from the motor
collar.
□Take out the setscrew (QQ) located in the hanger ball
(RR), lower the hanger ball (RR) and remove the
cross pin (SS). Remove the hanger ball (RR) from the
hanger ball/downrod assembly (C).
□Remove the ground lead (TT) from the downrod
assembly (C).

NOTE: Misting Fan should be installed with the included
downrod only and is not compatible with other downrods due
to the misting feature.
□Carefully feed the water tube (UU) attached to the
misting ring (E) into the side hole of the downrod (VV)
and through the top. Guide the motor wires up
through the bottom hole of the downrod and the
misting ring. Insert the downrod into the collar.
□Align the holes on the downrod bottom and collar
then insert the clevis pin (OO) through all holes of the
downrod and collar, be careful not to jam any wires
or tubes inside the downrod. Restore the cotter pin
(NN) to the end of the clevis pin (OO), make sure it
snaps into the lock position then tighten the two
collar setscrews (PP).
□Secure and tighten the misting ring (E) onto the
motor with two mounting screws (BB) and ensure all
screws are tightened.
□Slip the misting ring cover (D) and canopy (B) onto
the downrod (VV).
□Carefully reinstall the hanger ball (RR) onto the
downrod (VV) and reinstall the ground lead (TT) onto
the downrod (RR), being sure that the cross pin (SS)
is in the correct position, the setscrew (QQ) is
tightened and wires are not twisted.

Assembly — Hanging the Fan
A
□Pass the 120-volt supply wires through the center
hole in the mounting bracket (A).
□Attach the mounting bracket (A) on the outlet box by
sliding the mounting bracket (A) over the screws
provided with the outlet box. Note that the flat side of
the mounting bracket (A) is toward the outlet box.
□Securely tighten the two mounting screws.
□Carefully lift the fan motor assembly (F) up to the
mounting bracket (A) and seat the hanger ball/down-
rod assembly (C) in the mounting bracket (A) socket.
Make sure the tab on the mounting bracket (A)
socket is properly seated in the groove in the hanger
ball/downrod assembly (C). This will help to balance
the ceiling fan.
WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock or
other personal injury, mount the fan only to an outlet box or
supporting system marked acceptable for fan support and
use the mounting screws provided with the outlet box.
WARNING: The tab in the ring must rest in the groove of
the hanger ball/downrod assembly (C). Failure to properly
seat the tab in the groove could cause damage to the
wiring.

6Making the electrical
connections
Follow the steps below to connect the fan to your
household wiring. Use the plastic wire nuts (AA) with your
fan. Secure the plastic wire nuts (AA) with electrical tape.
Make sure there are no loose strands or connections.
□Connect the ground conductor of the 120V supply
(this may be a bare wire or a wire with green colored
insulation) to the green ground lead(s) of the fan.
When using standard ceiling mounting, there are two
green grounding leads: one from the mounting
bracket (A) and one from the hanger ball/downrod
assembly (C).
□Connect the fan motor white wire to the supply white
(neutral) wire using a plastic wire nut (AA).
□Connect the fan motor black wire and the blue wire to
the supply black (hot) wire using a plastic wire nut
(AA).
□Turn the wire nut connections upward, spreading
them apart so the green (ground) and white wires
will be on one side of the outlet box and the black
and blue wires will be on the other side, and push
carefully up into the outlet box.
□You can cut or remove excess wire if necessary.
WARNING: To avoid possible electrical shock, be sure
electricity is turned off at the main fuse box before wiring.
WARNING: Check to see that all connections are tight,
including ground, and that no bare wire is visible at the
wire nuts (except for the ground wire).
WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, do
not use this fan with any solid-state speed control device. If
you feel you do not have enough electrical wiring knowledge
or experience, have your fan installed by a licensed
electrician.

7Installing the canopy
WARNING: The locking slots of the canopy (B) are provided
only as an aid to mounting. Do not leave the fan assembly
unattended until all four canopy mounting screws (XX) are
engaged and firmly tightened.
WARNING: Make sure the tab on the mounting bracket (A)
properly sits in the groove in the hanger ball/downrod
assembly (C) before attaching the canopy (B) to the mounting
bracket (A) by turning the canopy (B) until it drops into place.

NOTE: The canopy has two mounting orientations at 180°
apart. Select the orientation that points the tube in the
direction best for routing to the pump.
□Remove the rubber leak-prevention washer (WW)
from the canopy (B).
□Carefully feed the water tube (UU) into the hole of the
rubber leak-prevention washer (WW).
□Carefully attach the rubber leak-prevention washer
(WW) into the gap on the canopy (B).
□Slide the canopy (B) up to the ceiling. Make sure you
have placed the wires safely into the outlet box.
□Secure the canopy (B) to the mounting bracket (A)
with the four canopy mounting screws with lock
washers (XX) included with your fan.

□The fan motor assembly (F) is shipped with rubber
packing mounts (YY) to prevent movement during
transportation. Remove the five rubber packing
mounts (YY) from the fan motor assembly (F) and
discard prior to attaching the blade arms (H).

WARNING: Failure to properly seat the blades (G) on the
blade arms (H) and engage in the spring locking mechanism
(BBB) could result in the fan blades (G) loosening and possibly
falling.
□Hold the blade (G) with hands close to the blade arm
(H), align the key-slot holes (ZZ) with the blade arm
posts (AAA) and press the blade down firmly. Ensure
the key-slot holes (ZZ) are properly seated on the
blade arm posts (AAA).
□Firmly slide the blade (G) away from the blade arm
(H) until the blade (G) engages in the spring locking
mechanism (BBB). Make sure the spring of the spring
locking mechanism (BBB) is upward and the butt of
the spring locking mechanism (BBB) is against the
edge of the blade.
To install the blade to the blade arm:
□Press down the spring locking mechanism (BBB) to
release the blade (G) from the blade arm (H). Slide
the blade (G) toward the blade arm (H) until the blade
(G) disengages from the spring locking mechanism
(BBB), carefully push the blade (G) up to detach from
the blade arm (H).

10 Fastening the blade

WARNING: To reduce the risk of personal injury, do not
bend the blade arms (H) while installing, balancing the blades
(G), or cleaning the fan. Do no insert foreign objects between
rotating fan blades (G).
□Fasten the blade assemblies to the fan motor
assembly (F) by lining up the slots (CCC) of the motor
(F) with the tabs (DDD) on the blade arms (H).
□Tighten the two blade arm screws with lock washers
(EEE) already installed in the blade arms (H).
□Repeat this procedure for the remaining blade arms
(H).

Safety Information — Misting Device
Install Information
IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
When using misting device, basic precautions should always be
practiced including the following.
1. For electrical safety, always use a GFCI outlet to connect the
pump.
2. To protect against electric shock, do not immerse this pump
or its plug and cord in water.
3. Tubing on the ceiling needs to be fully secured away from
moving fan blades.
4. Ensure tube fittings are fully seated to prevent water leakage.
5. Do not run the water line under mats or carpeting, and do not
cover the water line with runners. Arrange the water line
away from room traffic or where it can be tripped over.
1. Tube routing on the wall may need additional clips suitable for
the installation substrate.
2. Only 25 ft. of tubing is included to account for most
installations. If extra tubing is needed it can be purchased at
the Home Depot 1/4 in. OD pressure rated tubing.
3 . To prevent hot water from misting, keep the supply hose
away from direct sunlight.
4. Installation of a multi-outlet hose manifold (sold separately) is
recommended in order to maintain use of the hose spigot for
watering and other needs.
5. A garden hose can be run from the spigot to the pump or
additional 1/4 in. OD pressure rated tubing can be used to
connect the pump to water supply if not in close proximity to
the fan.
6. Install pump at a level above the water spigot or reservoir.
7. Pump must be installed at a vertical distance < 8 ft. from the
fan.
8. Tubing needs to be crimp free. Nothing can be put on top of
the tubing, which can cause damage or prevent water flow.
Do not route in a way that tubing can be stepped on.
9. If direct connection is not available, water may be drawn from
a reservoir (not included) and an in-line filter, sold separately,
is needed to prevent particulate from entering pump and/or
clogging the nozzles.
9-1 To prevent algae or mold from entering the system, the
reservoir needs to be drained between uses. It is also
recommended the water line is drained as well.
Do not install or use within 10 ft. of a pool.
Do not use an extension cord.

WARNING: Risk of Electric Shock. When used outdoors,
connect pump power supply only to a covered Class A GFCI
protected receptacle that is weatherproof with the power unit
connected to the receptable. If one is not provided, contact a
qualified electrician for proper installation. Ensure that the
power unit and cord do not interfere with completely closing
the receptacle cover.
WARNING: Risk of Fire. Installtion of a covered Class A GFCI
protected receptacle involves special wiring methods to run
wiring through a building structure. Consult a qualified
electrician.
WARNING: Not for use with receptacles that are
weatherproof only when the receptacle is covered (attachment
plug cap not inserted and receptacle cover closed).

11 Installing the water lines

□Remove but do not discard the fixed secure rings (GGG) from the two-way connector (FF).
□Attach the water lines (UU) and (EE) to the two-way connector (FF) by pushing them securely into the openings until they
stop. Reinstall the fixed secure ring (GGG).
□Straighten the water lines (UU and EE) and secure to ceiling with tube clips (HH) and tube clip mounting screws and anchors
(JJ and II).
□If removal of the water lines from a two-way connector is required for any reason, depress the rings (FFF). While pulling out
the tubes, do not pull out tubes without depressing rings as this can cause damage to the connector.
Before starting installation, disconnect the power by turning off the circuit breaker or removing the fuse at the fuse box. Turning
power off using the fan switch is not sufficient to prevent electric shock.

NOTE: Other plumbed water connections are possible using
1/4 in. PTC (push-to-connect) or compression fittings. It is
recommended a professional plumber is consulted and that a
valve is placed in-line to allow for shut-off to the misting
system.
□Remove the fixed secure ring (GGG) from the hose
connector (GG) and attach the 7 ft. water tube (EE)
into the faucet connector (GG). Reinstall the fixed
secure ring (GGG).
□Attach the hose connector (GG) to the hose spigot
(HHH).
□To separate the hose water tube (EE), you MUST
PRESS DOWN the FIXED RING (FFF) on the bottom of
the faucet connector (GG).
□The pump should be installed at a level higher than
the water supply and less than 8 ft. vertical distance
from the fan.
□Attach the two anchors (KK) and pump mounting
screw (LL) to the wall.
□Hang the pump (I) on the wall.

□Push inwards on the plastic rings (FFF) on the bottom of the pump (I) and pull out the plastic plugs (III).
□Attach the 7 Ft. water tube (DD) and 25 Ft. water tube (EE) into the pump (I). To separate the water tubes (DD and EE), you
MUST PUSH DOWN the FIXED RING (FFF) on bottom of the pump (I).

□Plug the power cord (J) into a 120v outlet. Once you restore power to the house, the misting device is ready to use.

Operation - Fan
PULL CHAIN OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
PULL CHAIN OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Install the pull chain and fob (CC) onto the pull chain located in
the switch housing (JJJ). Turn on the power and check the
operation of the fan.
The pull chain controls the fan speed as follows:
1 pull - High, 2 pulls - Medium, 3 pulls - Low, and 4 pulls - Off.
Speed settings for warm or cool weather depend on factors such
as the room size, ceiling height, and number of fans.

NOTE: Wait for the fan to stop before reversing the direction
of the blade rotation.
NOTE: Not recommended to use misting feature with fan in
reverse.
REVERSE SWITCH OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
REVERSE SWITCH OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
The reverse switch is located on the surface of the switch housing.
This switch controls directions: forward (switch down) or reverse
(switch up).
Warm weather - (Counterclockwise Direction) A downward air flow
creates a cooling effect. This allows you to set your air conditioner
on a higher setting without affecting your comfort.
Cool weather - (Clockwise Direction) An upward air flow moves
warm air off the ceiling. This allows you to set your heating unit on
a lower setting without affecting your comfort.
