AutoSlant
About this Instruction Book
This instruction book is written for the use with certain possible display choices. Depending on the choice of display, the
AutoSlant is controlled via:
•Universal Terminal (UT) interface on HC 8700, HC 9700 displays.
•Universal Terminal (UT) interface on HC 8600, HC 9600 displays.
•Virtual Terminal (VT) interface on HC 8500, HC 9500 displays.
•Other similar ISOBUS displays.
•PULSE™ display.
Because of the physical size of controllers, some buttons and dialogue boxes will appear with a bit different layout. But as
menus and functions are identical, we have chosen to illustrate this book with Universal Terminal (UT) interface as on the
HC 9600 display.

Operator Safety
Symbols
These symbols are used thorough the book to designate where some sort of extra attention has to paid for the reader. The
four symbols have following meaning.
€This symbol means DANGER. Be very alert as your safety is involved! The DANGER symbol indicates a high risk for an
immediate death or serious physical injury, if the instruction is not followed.
±This symbol means WARNING. Be alert as your safety can be involved! The WARNING symbol indicates a medium risk
for immediate death or serious injury, if the instruction is not followed.
μThis symbol means ATTENTION. This indicates an obligation to special behaviour or an activity required for proper
sprayer handling.This instruction will help you to avoid faults on the sprayer or disturbance to the environment.
÷This symbol means NOTE. This indicates handling tips and particularly useful information. This instruction will help
you to use all the functions of your sprayer in the best way possible for a better, easier and more safe operation.
Precautions
Note the following recommended precautions and safe operating practices before using the sprayer.
General Info
€Read and understand this instruction book before using the equipment. It is equally important that other operators
of this equipment read and understand this book.
If any portion of this instruction book remains unclear after reading it, contact your HARDI dealer for further
explanation before using the equipment.
€Local law may demand that the operator is certified to use spray equipment. Adhere to the law.
€Tractor drivers seat is the intended working place during operation.
€Wear protective clothing. Clothing may differ depending on chemical being sprayed. Adhere to the local law.
Wash and change clothes after spraying. Wash tools if they have become contaminated.
€Do not eat, drink or smoke while spraying or working with contaminated equipment.
In case of poisoning, immediately seek medical advice. Remember to identify chemicals used.
AutoSlant Precautions
€Under no circumstances should any service work be performed on the machinery while the AutoSlant system is in
the automatic mode.
€Always ensure that the AutoSlant system is powered down or in manual mode:
•Before leaving the operator’s seat.
•While the machine is not moving.
•When transporting the machine.
Before working on any part of the booms:
•Set the AutoSlant system to manual mode.
•Turn the sprayer engine off.
Do not operate this system before:
•Reading and understanding this instruction book.
•Thoroughly understanding the machine operation.

General System Info
Key Features
The AutoSlant includes the following features:
Automatic Software Setup
•The automatic system setup calibrates the software specifically for the sprayer in an easy manner. This provides the
maximum performance for the sprayer.
Height Sensors
•The height sensors use an ultrasonic signal to measure the distance to the ground or crop canopy.
•Three height sensors used. A sensor is mounted to the outer part of each boom tip, and another sensor is mounted to
the centre section.
Smart Sensor Technology
•Non-contact Sensing:
•Sensing is done using ultrasonic sensors which means no parts of the AutoSlant system come in contact with
the ground.
•Using a non-contact system means there will be no additional forces put on the boom, which could cause
damage to the sprayer boom.
•The ultrasonic signals can distinguish the difference between the ground and standing crop or field residue.
•Choose between soil, crop or hybrid mode for the boom height control.
Modules
•There is one module included: a Height Control Module.
•The Height Control Module status is indicated by a number of LED’s. Shortly after power-up, the module should
present a green light, indicating the module is functioning and ready.
Improved Reliability
•The AutoSlant system is installed in a way to leave the sprayer hydraulics operational. This means that if a cable is
damaged or a AutoSlant component is failing the sprayer remains functional.

Types of Terminals
The AutoSlant software can run with 2 main types of display Terminals.
ISOBUS Terminals With Buttons
ISO Terminals with physical function buttons, e.g. the shown Massey
Ferguson terminal.
•Conventional or touch screen and physical buttons.
•Function buttons are graphical but are operated by physical
buttons on the terminal.
•The AutoSlant software runs as a Universal Terminal (UT) into the
terminal software.
ISOBUS Terminals Without Buttons
HARDI HC 8600/8700, HC 9600/9700 or similar ISO terminals with
touchscreen interface. The HC 8600 is shown here.
•Touchscreen and no buttons (except ON/OFF).
•Function buttons are graphical and operated by pressing the
touch screen.
•The AutoSlant software runs as a Universal Terminal (UT) into the
Terminal software.

Display
Navigating to the Run Screen
To navigate to the AutoSlant run screen:
1. At your terminal, go to the NORAC UC7 universal terminal.
÷NOTE! The method to enter the NORAC UC7 universal
terminal may differ depending on the controller terminal
used.
2. Press the check button “V” to accept the Liability Notice
Screen and enter the AutoSlant work screen.
μATTENTION! The liability notice needs to be accepted
before you can operate the AutoSlant from:
•The widget on the HC 8700/9700 terminal.
•From the work screen on the HC 8500/9500 or HC
8600/9600 terminals.
3. The run screen appears.
÷NOTE! To view Run Screen functions, refer to “Run Screen”
on page 47.
NORAC UC7 Liability Notice
By pressing the [F] button you
acknowledge that you have read and
understand the operator’s manual and
assume responsibility for safe
installation and operation of this
system. Safe operation includes, at
a minimum, maintaining appropriate
speed, having an operator present in
the cab when in AUTO or MANUAL mode,
