General
1. It is recommended that the barrier be fitted by an authorised HAYMAN REESE dealer.
2. Read and ensure that the instructions are fully understood before making any attempt to fit this product.
3. Use a suitable stop on drills to prevent drilling through the roof.
4. It is recommended that new installers use masking tape to mark out and confirm location before drilling holes.
Masking tape can also be used as an added protection against trim and carpet damage.
5. Be wary of any changes to vehicle designs or other accessories that may conflict with the fitting of the cargo barrier.
Seat belt anchors must not be located within 100 mm of the anchor plates.
6. Before drilling, ensure that area is clear of fuel, electrical, or other components.
7. Do not attach the barrier to the vehicle using seat belt or a child restraint device or its anchorage.
8. Do not obstruct seat belts, child restraints, or their operation.
9. The rating plaque shall not be removed from the cargo barrier.
10. Use care when applying rust preventative to avoid skin or eye irritation.
11. Use safety glasses when using electric drill and clean up swarf as soon as possible.
12. Cut out the templates along the marked dotted lines and confirm the scale is 1:1 before starting the installation

1. Preparing vehicle for Installation of barrier.
a. Remove cargo storage net if fitted.
b. Remove cargo blind if fitted.
2. Preparing vehicle for installation of barrier.
a. For vehicles with full size spare wheel
(high floor) remove false floor section
from the vehicle to aid installation of the
bottom mounts.
3. Preparing vehicle for installation of barrier.
a. Open up the plastic covers on the two
rear most tie down points.
b. Remove the bolt retaining the tie down
point.

4. Preparing the vehicle for installation of barrier.
a. Remove the entire tie down point from
the vehicle.
b. Repeat process for the other side of the
vehicle.
5. Disassemble the tie down points
a. Disassemble the tie down point.
b. Remove the locking nut.
c. Remove 7/16 bolt from the assembly.
d. Remove plastic cover.
e. Remove the D ring
6. Disassembled tie down point
a. Figure 6 shows the tie down point fully
disassembled.
b. THE 7/16 bolt and locking nut are not
required for the fitment of the cargo
barrier.
c. These parts should be kept if the cargo
barrier is to be permanently removed
from the vehicle.

7. Assembling the bottom mount
a. Fit plastic bush into metal part of tie
down point assembly
b. Place new 7/16” bolt through bush in tie
down point
c. Re fit plastic trim to top of tie down
assembly
8. Installing the bottom mount
a. Fit bottom mount to captive nut in vehicle
using the bolt on the re-assembled tie
down.
b. Ensure that 7/16” flat washer is placed
between the tie down assembly and the
mounting plate.
c. Fasten until mounting plate is hard
against vehicle trim
9. Installing the bottom mount
a. In the wheel well, fit washer plate to
protruding thread of 7/16” bolt.
b. Secure with 7/16” nut.
c. Torque to 30Nm.
Note: Two people are required for this
operation
d. Repeat bottom mount installation on
other side of vehicle

10. Installing top anchor plates
a. Carefully cut out top anchor point
template.
b. Align template with edge of rubber
weather strip and centre trim clip in roof
liner.
c. Once aligned correctly secure template
with masking tape.
11. Installing top anchor plates
a. Mark centres of holes to be drilled with
centre punch
b. Using 19mm vinyl cutter with 7mm drill
arbour, drill the holes through the roof
liner as marked on the template. Ensure
that the arbour penetrates the metal
panel.
c. Open holes in panel using 11mm drill.
Ensure drill stop is used to prevent
damage to roof panel. Set to max depth
8mm
12. Installing top anchor plates
a. Using 14mm vinyl cutter with 7mm drill
arbour, drill the holes through the roof
liner as marked on the template. Ensure
that the arbour penetrates the metal
panel.
b. Ensure that vinyl cutter does not cut into
the metal panel.
c. Check that all holes are clear from trim
material.

13. Installing top anchor plates
a. Remove 3 trim plugs securing roof liner
b. Unclip upper side trims using trim puller
c. Gently pry roof liner away from roof to
allow access to metal roof panel
Caution: Take care not to crease roof
liner.
14. Installing top anchor plates
a. Deburr holes drilled earlier with deburring
tool.
b. Coat raw edges with rust preventative
grease provided.
c. Vacuum away all swarf & metal filings.
15. Installing top anchor plates
a. Feed anchor plates behind panel through
opening as shown in figure 15
b. Ensure that smooth side of anchor plate
faces down.

16. Installing bottom anchor plates
a. Locate anchor plate using 2 M6 Bolts
b. Complete steps 14 to 16 for both sides
of vehicle.
17. Installing bottom anchor plates
a. Carefully refit roof liner feeding the M6
bolt heads through the 14mm vinyl cuts.
b. Thread M10 long bolt with cover plate into
centre point on anchor plate then rotate
90 degree between the M6 bolts.
c. Apply downward pressure to the M10 bolt
to ensure that the anchor plate seats
properly in the metal panel.
d. Remove the M6 bolts. Align then refit
cover plate with M6 bolts and spring
washers while keeping even pressure
e. Torque M6 bolts to 6Nm then remove
M10 bolt, repeat the process for the
opposite side of the vehicle.
18. Prepare barrier for fitment
a. Lay out all required fasteners and straps
in rear of vehicle. Refer to drawing at start
of instructions.
b. Fit M10 coach bolts and rubber bushings
to mounting points on the cargo barrier,
as shown in figure 18.
c. For models with space saver spare wheel
(low floor) fit metal extension panel to
bottom of barrier before offering into the
vehicle.

19. Fit cargo barrier to vehicle
a. Place cargo barrier into vehicle on angle
through rear door. Take care not to bend
the extension panel (if fitted)
b. Position cargo barrier behind rear seats
20. Installing bottom mount straps
a. Fit the bottom strap to barrier with hand
knob, flat washer and wave washer,
loosely at this stage
b. Fit bottom strap to mount using cargo
bolt, flat washer and wave washer
21. Installing top mount straps
a. Fit the top strap to barrier with hand knob,
flat washer and wave washer, loosely at
this stage
b. Fit top strap to mount using cargo bolt
wave washer and plastic bush

22. Installing the cargo barrier
a. Centralise the barrier in the vehicle.
b. Fully fasten all hardware.
c. Re-Fit rear floor mat, cargo blind and
cargo net if fitted.
d. To remove barrier reverse steps 19-21

Keep these instructions in the Glove Box with the owner’s manual for future reference.
1. The compliance Rating Plaque that is fitted to the Cargo Barrier shall not be removed under any
circumstances.
2. Do not obstruct seat belt or child restraints, or their operation.
3. Do not attach the cargo barrier to the vehicle using seat, seat belt or child restraint anchorages.
4. Do not attach objects to the front of the Cargo barrier.
5. Do not modify the Cargo Barrier in any way.
6. Do not use this Cargo Barrier in any other vehicle for which it is not designed.
7. During a collision, moving cargo may damage the seat belts and the tether strap of a child restraint
device or its anchorages. Load should not be in contact with webbing.
8. Never leave children unattended in the rear of the vehicle especially behind the Cargo Barrier.
9. Position the load against the Cargo Barrier.
10. Clean the Cargo Barrier with soap and water only. Do not use solvents or chemicals.
11. Replace the Cargo Barrier if it becomes rusted or damaged.
12. Do not store outside in direct sunlight.
13. Long thin items of cargo should be positioned in the vehicle with the long thin axis across the vehicle
to minimise the penetration risk.
14. Regularly check that the fasteners are tight.
15. In the event of an accident the Cargo Barrier may deform into the passenger area and the mounting
points may be weakened. Please have the installation checked by an authorised Hayman Reese
dealer in the event of an accident.
16. The high tensile fasteners supplied with this barrier were used to achieve the specified rating if
replacement is required, ensure that fasteners of the same rating are used. Contact an authorised
Hayman Reese dealer if further information is required.
