INSTALLATION----------
CAUTION
1. At NO time shou ld screws on set point dial be
loosened. This will cause device
to lose its cali-
bration and may cause it to become inoperative.
2. Do not cvertighten union nut, as this may cause
distorti c ~ and damage.
3. Installer must be a trained , experien ced service
technician.

To minimize effects of ra diant heat, do not in-
sta ll straight-through valve models so that ther·
mostatic head must be attached directly above
valve body . On angle body models, assemble
valve so that thermostatic head will be as far
from
heating surfaces as possible.
2. At selected
location, T5068 must not be sub·
ject to drafts, expo s ed to direct sunlight, or
covered by curtains.
3. Do not install temperature sensing heads on top
or inside heated enclosure. Remot e sensors may
be located at bottom of co n vector where it will
sense temperature of retu rn ai r.
4. When installing valve body in wa te r and 2-pipe
s team systems, arrow must be in dir ect ion of
flow.
5. If boiler for 1-pipe steam system is cycled by
space
thermostat in one zo n e, do not apply
radiator val ve to radia tor in that zone. Improper
boiler control could result.
6. Do not apply radiator valve in 1-pipe steam sys-
tem that d oe s not use steam ·air vents venting to
atmosphere on each radiation unit . Vacuum
breakers must be installed on risers if steam sys-
tem does not have them.

use the following procedure to direct mount the
thermost atic head:
1. Posi tion actuator on valve bracket and fasten with
two Phillips head screws provided as indicated in Fig. 4.
Be sure to tighten actuator to valve body securely or a
calibration shift will result.
2. Place th e range limiting pin in the desired location
of the adjustable range stop (Fig. 5).
3. Turn the set point to the minimum setting.
4. Place the adjustable range
stop over the a ct uator
and mo unt with the two Allen head screws provided.

T5068A DIRECT MOUNTING ON BASEBOARD UNIT
To mount the T5068A and V5076 directly on a
baseboard unit, use the following procedure (Fig. 6):
1. Insta ll the valve body on the baseboard unit. See
instructio ns packed with valve body.
2. Cut a hole in the baseboard unit directly in front
of the valve connect ion.
3. Assemble the thermostatic actuator to the valve
body.
4. Replace the baseboard baseplate.

The T5068C
the point is direct-mounted on the va!ve
mount the remo te sensor, follow the
T5J68B REMOTE WALL MOUNTING. To mount the
T5068C actuator, follow the instructions for DIRECT
MOUNTING ON RADIATOR, or the instruc tions for
DIRECT MOUNTING ON BASEBOARD UNIT.

Installing a T5068/V5076B with adapter on one
radiator a one·pipe steam system does not
eliminate other controls in the system. The
boiler must be by a thermostat in
representative zone, by a tim er.
If the boiler is cycled from a spac e thermostat
one DO NOT apply a radiator
that zone's radiator.
Do not apply a radiator valve in one-pipe steam
systems that do not use steam air vents ve nting
to atmosphere on each radiation unit .
In a typical one-pipe steam system, a thermo ·
stat in a representative zone or timer (which may be
controlled by outdoor temperature) cycles boiler.
On a call for heat, steam is ge'1€rated, which pushes
air in the pipes and radiators through steam air
on the radiators. When steam reaches the
steam air vent, its heat closes the vent and prevents the
escape of steam. All radiators in the system will be full
of steam as long as the space thermostat in the
representative zone calls for heat
After installation of the V50768/T5068 with adapter
assembly, the V5076B will close if the room temperature
above the set point of the T5068. Since t he V5076B
installed between the radiator steam opening
and th e air vent, steam will be unable to displace
air the radiator, and the radiator will rema in cool.
If the room temperature below the set point of
the T5068, the V5076B will be and the radiator
will operate described above. Once the radia tor is
full of steam, the T5068 has no
temperature un t il the next boiler

SETTING
When the installation is properly completed, rotate
the set point dial until steam or water flO>V· is detected.
After
the ro om temp era tu re has stab ilized (4 or ,5 hours),
reset
the di al to the desired setting pet ween l .a nd 7.
The set point will vary with the location of th e sensor.
A floor
level sensor on a baseboard will control at a
di ffe rent .se t p oint th an a wall le vel sensor.
Normally, small changes are required to corre
ct an
overheating
or underheating condition . Each division
represents approximately 3 F [1.7

t. The number o ne setting is 60 F [16 CJ ; the num·
ber 7 setting is 85 F [29 CJ. After making a small
change, the valve must be allowed
to stabilize for at
least 30 minutes.

use it as a· hand valve: lt is not a manual shutdown.
LOCKING SET POINT
The T5068A and T506 8C co me equipp ed with an
adjustable range
stop (see page 3 for installation). A
single temperature locking set p
oint is ~!s o available.
To install the sing le temper at ure locking s~t point,
se le ct the s et point desi red and fasten the locking set
poiht to t he appropriate mounting holesusing the two
Allen head screws prov id ed (Fi g. 9 1.
