When using electrical appliances, basic precautions should always
be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock and injury to
persons, including the following:
IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS
1. Read all instructions before using heater.
2. This heater is hot when in use. To avoid burns, do not let bare skin touch
hot surface. If provided, use handles when moving this heater. Keep
combustible materials such as furniture, pillows, bedding, papers, clothes
and curtains at least 3 feet (0.9m) from the front of the heater and keep
them away from the sides and rear.
3. Extreme caution is necessary when any heater is used by or near children
or invalids and whenever the heater is left operating and unattended.
4. Always unplug heater when not in use.
5. Do not operate the heater with a damaged cord or plug or after the heater
malfunctions, has been dropped or damaged in any manner. Return heater
to authorized service facility for examination, electrical or mechanical
adjustment, or repair.
6. Do not use outdoors.
7. This heater is not intended for use in bathrooms, laundry areas and similar
moist indoor locations. Never locate heater where it may fall into a bathtub
or other water container.
8. Do not run cord under carpeting. Do not cover cord with throw rugs,
runners, or the like. Arrange cord away from traffic areas where it will
not be tripped over.
9. This heater is for use on 120 volts. The cord has a plug as shown below
(Fig. 1). An adapter is available at retail (not included) for connecting
three-blade grounding-type plugs to two-slot receptacles. The green
grounding lug extending from the adapter must be connected to a
permanent ground such as a properly grounded outlet box. The adapter
should not be used if a three-slot grounded receptacle is available.
10. This heater draws 12.5 amps during operation. To prevent overloading a
circuit, do not plug the heater into a circuit that already has other appliances
working.
11. It is normal for the plug to feel warm to the touch; however, a loose fit
between the AC outlet (receptacle) and plug may cause overheating and
distortion of the plug. Contact a qualified electrician to replace loose or
worn outlet.
12. To disconnect the heater, first turn controls to the OFF position, then grip the
plug and pull it from the wall outlet. Never pull by the cord.

13. Do not insert or allow foreign objects to enter any ventilation or exhaust
opening as this may cause an electric shock or fire, or damage the heater.
14. To prevent a possible fire, do not block air intakes or exhaust in any
manner. Do not use on soft surface, like a bed, where openings may
become blocked.
15. A heater has hot and arcing or sparking parts inside. Do not use it in the
areas where gasoline, paint, or flammable liquids are used or stored.
16. Use this heater only as described in this manual. Any other use not
recommended by the manufacturer may cause fire, electric shock, or injury
to persons.
17. Avoid the use of an extension cord because the extension cord may overh e a t
and cause a risk of fire. However, if you have to use an extension cord, the
c o rdshall be No. 14 AWG minimum size and rated not less than 1875 watts.
18. The output of this heater may vary and its temperature may become intense
enough to burn exposed skin. Use of this heater is not recommended for
persons with reduced sensitivity to heat or an inability to react to avoid burn s .
19. SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS.
•Place the heater on a firm, level, open surface free from obstructions and at
least 3 ft. (0.9m) away from any combustible materials. DO NOT use on an
unstable surface such as bedding or deep carpeting. Be sure the heater is
not in a position where it may be tripped over by small children or pets. The
heater's rubber feet will hold it firmly in position.
• With the Power knob in the OFF position, plug the heater into a grounded
120V outlet suitable for a 3-prong plug (Fig. 1).
• Turn the Thermostat fully clockwise to its highest position.
•Use the Power knob to turn the heater on to LOW (750W) or HIGH (1500W).
The power light will illuminate.
•When the room reaches a comfortable temperature, slowly turn the Thermostat
control counter-clockwise until the heater goes off.
This is the point at which the Thermostat setting equals the room temperature.

At this setting, the Thermostat will automatically turn the heater on and off to
maintain this selected temperature.
• Turn the Power knob to OFF and unplug the heater when you are finished
using it.
To operate the fan:
• Turn the Power knob to FAN and the Thermostat knob to its highest setting to
use the unit as an air circulator without heat.

SAFETY FEATURES
This heater is equipped with several devices and features for added protection.
•A high temperature safety control prevents overheating (HI limit).
•A back-up thermal circuit breaker.
•This heater is also equipped with motor thermal fuse that will shut down
the motor should it operate at a higher than normal temperature.
•This heater has a caution light. If it is illuminated, please refer to the
TROUBLESHOOTING section of this manual for further instruction.
•This heater has a specially designed plastic handle which is cool to the
touch and allows you to easily move your heater.
TROUBLESHOOTING
If your heater shuts off unexpectedly or fails to operate, one of your heater safety
features may have been activated to prevent overheating.
•Be sure it is plugged in and that the electrical outlet is working.
•Check your Thermostat setting. The unit may simply be off because you
have reached your desired heat setting.
•This heater has a caution light.
• DO NOT operate the heater while the caution light is on.
•If the caution light goes on, immediately turn the heater OFF and check
that no objects are on or touching the heater.
•If you find an obstruction, with the heater still in the OFF position and
unplugged carefully remove it.
• Wait at least 10 minutes for the heater to cool. Plug the heater back in
and restart as described in OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS.

CLEANING AND STORAGE
We recommend that the heater be cleaned at least once a month and before
off-season storage.
• Turn the heater OFF and unplug it. Allow it to cool.
•Use a dry cloth only to clean the external surfaces of the heater.
DO NOT USE WATER, WAX, POLISH OR ANY CHEMICAL SOLUTION.
•Clean your heater using the above - mentioned steps, then pack the
heater in its original container and store it in a cool, dry place.
•This heater does not disassemble.
This product is rated at 12.5 Amps (1500 Watts) @ 120VAC, 60Hz.

The enclosed Customer Response card should be filled out and returned
within 7 days of purchase.
A. This 5 year limited warranty applies to repair or replacement of product
found to be defective in material or workmanship. This warranty does not
apply to damage resulting from commercial, abusive, unreasonable use or
supplemental damage. Defects that are the result of normal wear and tear
will not be considered manufacturing defects under this warranty.KAZ IS

B. At its option, Kaz will repair or replace this product if it is found to be defec-
tive in material or workmanship. Defective product should be returned to the
place of purchase in accordance with store policy. Thereafter, while within
the warranty period defective product may be returned to Kaz.
C. This warranty does not cover damage resulting from any unauthorized
attempts to repair or from any use not in accordance with the instruction
manual.
D. Return defective product to Kaz, Incorporated with a brief description of
the problem. Include proof of purchase and a $10 US / $15.00 CAN
check or money order for handling, return packing and shipping charges.

INSTRUCTIONS D’UTILISATION ET D’ENTRETIEN
L'utilisation d'appareils électriques nécessite des précautions élémentaires
afin de réduire les risques d'incendie, de choc électrique ou de blessure s .
P a r mi les précautions à observ e r, on compte les suivantes :
IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS
1. Lire toutes les instructions avant d'utiliser l'appareil de chauffage.
2. Cet appareil devient chaud quand il fonctionne. Afin de prévenir les brûlures, éviter
le contact entre la peau nue et les surfaces chaudes. Si l’appareil est muni de
poignées, les utiliser pour déplacer l’appareil. S'assurer que les matières combustibles
comme les meubles, les oreillers, la literie, le papier, les vêtements et les rideaux se
t rouvent à au moins 0,9 m (3 pieds) du devant de l'appareil et qu’elles n’entrent pas
en contact avec les côtés ou l’arrière de l’appareil.
3. La plus grande prudence est recommandée si l’appareil de chauffage est utilisé en
présence d'enfants ou de personnes handicapées – ou par ces personnes -- ou dans
le cas où l'appareil est laissé sans surv e i l l a n c e .
4. Toujours débrancher l'appareil de chauffage quand celui-ci ne sert pas.
5. Éviter d'utiliser tout appareil de chauffage dont la fiche ou le cordon d'alimentation
est endommagé. Éviter également d'utiliser l'appareil si celui-ci a montré des signes
de mauvais fonctionnement, si on l'a laissé tomber ou s'il a été endommagé de
quelque façon que ce soit. Retourner l'appareil à un centre de service autorisé
pour un examen, un réglage électrique ou mécanique ou une réparation.
6. Ne pas utiliser l'appareil en plein air.
7. Cet appareil de chauffage n'est pas conçu pour être utilisé dans les salles de bains,
les salles de lessive ou dans tout autre endroit humide de la maison. Ne jamais
déposer l'appareil là où il pourrait tomber dans une baignoire ou dans un autre
récipient contenant de l'eau.
8. Éviter de faire passer le cordon d'alimentation sous les tapis ou de le recouvrir d'une
carpette, d'un chemin de couloir, etc. Éloigner le cordon des endroits très passants et
de là où l'on risquerait de trébucher dessus.
9. L’appareil doit être raccordé à une tension de 120 volts. Le cordon d’alimentation est
muni d’une fiche similaire à celle qui est montrée ci-dessous (Fig. 1). On peut se procurer
dans les points de vente au détail un adaptateur (non fourni) permettant de brancher les
fiches à trois broches (mises à la terre) dans des prises de courant à deux fentes. La
patte (verte) de mise à la terre de l’adaptateur doit être raccordée à une mise à la terre
permanente, telle une prise de courant adéquatement mise à la terre. L’adaptateur ne
devrait pas être utilisé dans une prise de courant mise à la terre (à trois fentes).
10. Durant son fonctionnement, cet appareil de chauffage tire 12,5 ampères. Afin de
ne pas surc h a rger le circuit, éviter de brancher l'appareil sur un circuit qui alimente
déjà d'autres appareils en marche.
11. Il est normal que la fiche soit un peu chaude au toucher. Cependant, une
mauvaise connexion entre la sortie de courant alternatif et la fiche peut provoquer
un échauffement excessif et la déformation de la fiche. Demander à un électricien
qualifié de remplacer la prise de courant.
12. Pour débrancher l'appareil de chauffage, régler le dispositif de contrôle à O F F, puis
enlever la fiche de la prise de courant. Ne jamais tirer sur le cordon d’alimentation.

13. S'assurer qu'aucun corps étranger ne pénètre dans les ouvert u res prévues pour la
ventilation ou l'évacuation, au risque de recevoir une décharge électrique, de
déclencher un incendie ou d'endommager l'appareil de chauffage.
14. Afin de prévenir un incendie, éviter de boucher de quelque façon que ce soit les
orifices d’admission ou d’évacuation d’air. Éviter de placer l’appareil sur une
surface molle comme un lit, ce qui pourrait boucher les orifices.

16 . Utiliser uniquement cet appareil de chauffage conformément aux directives contenues
dans le présent guide d'utilisation. Tout autre usage non recommandé par le fabricant
pourrait être cause d'incendie, de choc électrique ou de blessures.
17. Éviter d'utiliser une rallonge, puisque celle-ci risquerait de surchauffer et de
déclencher un incendie. Toutefois, s'il s'avère nécessaire d'utiliser une rallonge,
cette dernière doit être d'une grosseur minimum de 14 AWG et calibrée pour
pas moins de 1 875 watts.
18. La quantité de chaleur émise par cet appareil de chauffage peut varier, et sa
température peut devenir suffisamment intense pour brûler la peau nue. Pour cette
raison, l'usage de cet appareil n'est pas recommandé aux personnes qui ont une
sensibilité réduite à la chaleur ou dont la capacité de réaction pour éviter les
brûlures est limitée.
19. CONSERVER CES INSTRUCTIONS.

• Placer l'appareil de chauffage sur une surface dégagée, ferme et bien horizontale,
à une distance d'au moins 0,9 m (3 pieds) de toute matière combustible. ÉVITER
de placer l’appareil sur une surface instable comme un lit ou un tapis à poils longs.
S’assurer que l’appareil n’est pas placé à un endroit où un jeune enfant ou un
animal pourrait trébucher dessus. Les pieds de caoutchouc de l’appareil le
maintiennent fermement en place.
• Après avoir placé le bouton d’alimentation à la position OFF, brancher l'appareil
dans une prise de courant mise à la terre de 120 V pouvant recevoir une fiche à
trois broches (Fig. 1).
• Tourner le bouton du thermostat complètement dans le sens des aiguilles d’une
montre, jusqu’à son réglage le plus haut.
• Mettre l’appareil en marche en réglant le bouton d’alimentation à la position LOW
(750 W) ou HIGH (1 500 W). Le voyant d’alimentation s’allumera.

• Lorsque la pièce a atteint une température confortable, tourner lentement le bouton
du thermostat dans le sens contraire des aiguilles d’une montre jusqu'à ce que
l'appareil de chauffage s'arrête de fonctionner; la température préréglée sur le
thermostat a maintenant été atteinte.
À partir de ce moment, le thermostat met en marche et arrête automatiquement
l'appareil de chauffage pour maintenir la pièce à la température préréglée.
• Régler le bouton d’alimentation à la position OFF et débrancher l’appareil quand
il ne sert pas.
Pour faire fonctionner le ventilateur :
• tourner le bouton d’alimentation à la position FAN (Ventilateur) et le bouton du
thermostat au réglage le plus haut pour utiliser l'appareil pour faire circuler l'air,
sans produire de chaleur.
DISPOSITIFS DE SÉCURITÉ
L’appareil est équipé de plusieurs dispositifs de sécurité :
•Un dispositif de sécurité prévenant l’échauffement excessif de l’appareil
(dispositif de commande à maximum);
•Un disjoncteur thermique auxiliaire;
•Un fusible thermique qui coupe le fonctionnement du moteur si celui-ci atteint
une température anormalement haute;
• L’appareil est équipé d’un voyant avertisseur. Si ce voyant est allumé, consulter
la section DÉPANNAGE du présent guide.
• L’appareil est muni d’une poignée de plastique spécialement conçue pour
rester fraîche au toucher et permettre de transporter facilement l’appareil.
DÉPANNAGE
Si l’appareil arrête subitement de fonctionner ou ne se met pas en marche, il est
possible que ce soit parce que l’un des dispositifs de sécurité de l’appareil a été
activé afin de prévenir un échauffement excessif.
• S’assurer que l’appareil est branché et que la prise de courant
est fonctionnelle.
•Vérifier le réglage du thermostat. Il se peut que l’appareil ne se mette pas
en marche tout simplement parce que la pièce a atteint la température
préréglée sur le thermostat.
•Cet appareil de chauffage est équipé d’un voyant avertisseur.
•ÉVITER de faire fonctionner l’appareil quand le voyant avertisseur est
allumé.
•Si le voyant avertisseur s’allume, couper immédiatement le fonctionnement
de l’appareil et s’assurer qu’aucun objet n’entre en contact avec lui.
•Si un objet entre en contact avec l’appareil, enlever l’objet en s’assurant
que l’appareil ne fonctionne pas et qu’il est débranché.
•Laisser refroidir l’appareil pendant au moins 10 minutes. Rebrancher l’ap
pareil et le remettre en marche en suivant les instructions de la section
FONCTIONNEMENT.
