Description
T h e 90DM4 is an infrared C O 2C arb on Diox yd e g as m onitor. A 4-20 m A
outp ut m ay b e c onfig ured on-site. T h e m onitor p erm its a read ing on a 0-
2000 P P M rang e. O p tional rang es at 0-5000, 0-10000 and 0-5%
(50000) are also av ailab le.
T h e following tab le p rov id es alarm lev els for eac h of th e stand ard
alarm s p rov id ed in th e 90DM4. O nly A larm A is m od ifiab le using th e
p rog ram m ing m enu. A larm s B and C c annot b e m od ified using th e
90DM4. W h en A larm A lev el is reac h ed , it will ac tiv ate th e relay.
Note: Alarm A, B and C values can be modified by a controller type of
unit (such as the 301C, or others) when the 90DM4 is used in a
network configuration.

Duct-type Installation
T h e 90DM4 m ay b e d uc t-m ounted . It will op erate m ost effec tiv ely wh en
th e airsp eed is b etween 500 and 4,000 ft/m inute (2.5 to 20.3 m /sec ),
and it m ay b e installed to m onitor eith er inc om ing fresh air or outg oing
ex h austed air. In ord er to op tim iz e its op eration we rec om m end
installation on a straig h t sec tion of d uc t 3 feet (1 m ) away from any
c urv ed d uc twork .

1. Drill a 3 c m (1.18 in.) op ening for th e sam p ling tub e.
2. Insert th e sam p ling tub e with its lateral air h oles into th e ap p rop riate
op ening , orienting th e air h oles ( F L O W ind ic ation) to fac e th e
airflow.
3 . K noc k out th e rear h ole of th e oc tag onal b ox
4. P lac e th e b ox on th e p lastic p late. (T h e b ox m ounting h oles m ust b e
v ertic ally oriented ).
5. Mount th e b ox with two # 8 m etal sc rews.
6 . Install th e elec tric wire in th e oc tog onal b ox .

10. B efore m ounting th e c ov er of th e sam p ling unit b ox , start th e
v entilation feed ing fan and c h ec k if th ere is any air leak ag e. If
nec essary, seal with air p lug s.
11. P ress th e 90DM4 onto th e p lastic b ase (latc h es will c lic k ). F asten
th e sc rews at th e top of th e unit to loc k unit into p lac e.
Note: Vulcain uses ft/minute velocity rules, however other industries or
companies use CFM: To convert from CFM to velocity (ft/minute),
divide the flow by the area (Example: In a 2ft x4 ft duct, where
the area is 8sq. ft with a CFM of 30,000, the air velocity will be
30,000 cu. ft/minute/(8sq. ft) =3,750 ft/minute)

eq uip p ed with its L C D sc reen op tion.
W h en th e 90DM4 is first p owered up , it m ust g o th roug h a warm up
c yc le, wh ic h c ould tak e as long as 15 m inutes. During th e warm up
c yc le, th e L C D sc reen d isp lays th e d ev ic e’s ad d ress, th e g as typ e and
“W arm Up ”.
W h en th e d ev ic e is in norm al m od e, it will d isp lay th e d ev ic e’s ad d ress
and g as typ e on line one and c onc entration and unit of m easurem ent on
th e sec ond line.
