CHAPTER2IntroductionLearnwhatyouneedtoknowabouttheHoneywellVertex™Edge72-PointContinuousMonitorSystembeforeoperating.SystemOverviewTheHoneywellVertex™EdgeSystemcontinuouslymonitorsupto72remotelocationsfortoxicgases.Itrespondstogasesthatexceedprogrammedlevelsby:lTriggeringalarmsandopeningeventwindowstowarnoperatorsofhighconcentrations;lDisplayingthelocation,gastypeandgasconcentration;andlStoringthealarminformationinadatabase.TheVertexEdgeSystemprovidesfastresponsetoawiderangeofgases.Eachlocationmaybeupto400ft(122m)fromtheVertexEdgeSystem.ThesystemusesoneormoreofHoneywellAnalytics’Chemcassette®analyzerstoprovideamonitoringsystemtailoredtomeettherequirementsofthefacility.TheVertexEdgeSystemincorporatesarangeofredundantandprotectivefeaturesformaximumuptime:lPumpsareredundant;lThesystempowersupinthesamestateaswhenpowereddown;andlYoucanstopmonitoringwhilereplacingfilters,Chemcassettes,andsignificantcomponentsinoneoftheanalyzerswhileremaininganalyzerscontinuetofunction.OperationcanbethroughanLCDtouchscreenorthroughalocalareanetwork(LAN).Chemcassette®isaregisteredtrademarkofHoneywellAnalytics,Inc.Vertex Edge System 9 User Manual
