Diskette Drive Installation
HP Workstation xw Series
This document describes how to install a diskette drive.
Kit Contents
This product is shipped with the necessary supplies for installing a diskette drive in various workstation
models, so you might not use all of the cables, bezels, or screws.

❏HP Workstation xw4200 and HP Workstation xw4100—3.5-inch bezel (thicker than the xw6200)

Installing a Diskette Drive
For product-specific information, refer to the Service and Technical Reference Guide for your HP
Workstation at http://www.hp.com/support/workstation_manuals.
1. Disconnect power from the system, remove the access panel, the front bezel, the necessary bezel
blank, and the EMI filler blank, if applicable.

2. Insert the diskette drive in the bracket, and secure the diskette drive by inserting two M3 screws in the
rear most holes.
NOTE: This step only applies to HP Workstation xw8200.
3. Slide the drive into the bay. For the HP Workstation xw4200 and xw4100, you must add four screws to
secure the diskette drive to the chassis.
4. Connect a data cable from the system board to the diskette drive and connect the power cable from the
power supply to the diskette drive. Depending on your system, the location of the system board
connector and the correct power cable to use might be different. Refer to the Service and Technical
Reference Guide for your HP Workstation for product-specific information.

5. Route the diskette drive data cable between the system board and the hard drive cage. Your cable
might look different than the one shown.
ÄCAUTION: The cable must stay between the system board and the hard drive cage. It might be
necessary to push the cable down so that it catches on the system board. This routing method is important
because you do not want to interfere with the heatsink fans or block airflow.
6. Replace the diskette drive bezel, front bezel, access panel, reconnect power, and turn on the
workstation.

1. システムから電源コードを抜き、 必要に応じてアクセス パネル、 フ ロ ン ト ベゼル、 ベゼル
ブランク、 EMI フィラーブランクを取り外します。
2. フロッピーディスク ド ラ イ ブをブ ラ ケ ッ ト に差 し込み、 一番奥の穴 （左右 1箇所ずつ） に
M3 ネジを挿入し、 フロ ッ ピー ディスク ドライブを固定します。
注記 : この手順は、 HP Workstation xw8200 にのみ必要です。
3. フロッピーディスク ドライブをベイにスライドして挿入します。HP Workstation xw4200 お
よび xw4100 の場合は、 さ ら に 4箇所ネジ止め し 、 フ ロ ッ ピー ディスク ドライブをシャー
シに固定し ます。

4. システム ボー ド と フ ロ ッ ピー ディスク ドライブをデータ ケーブルで接続し、 電源と フ
ロッピーディスク ド ラ イ ブ を電源ケーブルで接続 し ま す。 お使いのシ ス テ ム に よ っ ては、
システム ボー ド の コ ネ ク タ の位置や、 使用す る電源ケーブルが異な り ます。 お使いの HP
ワーク ス テーシ ョ ンの製品固有の情報については、 お使いの HP ワーク ステーシ ョ ンの
『Service and Technical Reference Guide』 を参照 し て く だ さ い。
5. フロッピーディスク ドライブのデータケーブルで、 システム ボー ド と ハー ドデ ィ ス ク ド
ライブケージを接続し ます。 図のケーブルは、 お使いのケーブルと異なる場合があ り ま
す。
Ä注意 : ケーブル部分が、 シス テム ボー ド とハー ド デ ィ ス ク ドライブ ケージの間に収まるよ う に配線
して く ださい。 ケーブルをシステム ボー ド に収める ため、 ケーブルを押 さ え る必要がある場合があ
ります。 ケーブルがヒートシンク フ ァ ンの動作を妨げた り 、 排気を遮断 し た り し な いよ う に配線 し
てください。
6. フロッピーディスク ドライブベゼル、 フ ロ ン ト ベゼル、 ア ク セ ス パネル、 電源ケーブル
を元に戻し、 ワーク ステーシ ョ ンの電源を入れます。
