Overview
The HP Six Port Card expands the communications capability
of a UPS so that a single UPS can exchange data with up to
three host computers when HP Power Management software
is installed.
Precautions
See the Important Safety Information guide (included in the
UPS kit) before installing this product.
Save these instructions. This document contains important
safety instructions that should be followed during the
installation of this option card.
WARNING: A risk of personal injury from
electric shock and hazardous energy levels
exists. The installation of options and routine
maintenance and service of this product
must be performed by individuals who are
knowledgeable about the procedures,
precautions, and hazards associated with AC
power products.
NOTE: The rating label on the device provides the
class (A or B) of the equipment. Class B devices have
a Federal Communications Commission (FCC) logo or
FCC ID on the label. Class A devices do not have an
FCC logo or FCC ID on the label. After determining
the class of the device, refer to the user guide for
complete regulatory compliance notices.

Installing the Six Port Card
1. Install HP Power Manager agents on every server or
workstation protected by the host UPS.
To download the latest software version, see the HP
website (http://www.hp.com/go/rackandpower).
2. Perform a normal system shutdown on all devices
connected to the host UPS.
3. Place the UPS in Standby mode (from Operate mode or
Configure mode) by pressing the Standby button (1).
4. Unplug the UPS.
WARNING: To reduce the risk of personal
injury from electric shock, avoid operating
the UPS while it is disconnected from the
source of electrical power.
5. Remove the Serial Port Card located on the rear of the
UPS.
6. Install the Six Port Card. Be sure to seat it properly.
Connecting the servers
The Six Port Card supports up to three servers on ports 2, 4,
and 6.
IMPORTANT: The number of servers connected must
not exceed the number of load segments on the UPS.
1. Connect the servers to the load segments on the UPS and
to the ports on the Six Port Card in this configuration.
Port 1 is the configuration port and is used to update the
firmware for the Six Port Card. Ports 3 and 5 are
designated for future use.
2. Power up the UPS.
