This "Setting Guide" describes the main
basic operations and initial setup. For more
information on various functions, refer to the
"Basic Manual" that comes with this product,
and the "Basic Manual" app that can be used
on the product.
■Basic touch panel operations
Tap/double tap
Lightly touch an item on the
screen with your nger and
then release your nger.
Tapping the same position
twice consecutively is called
a double tap.

■Inputting characters
The software keyboard can be used when an

■Setting app access permissions
When you open apps for the rst time, a prompt
screen appears asking you whether to grant the
apps permissions to access certain features of
or data on the product.
If the screen is displayed, conrm the content
and tap [DENY] or [ALLOW].
• If you tap [DENY] in an app, you may not be
able to run the app or its features, or the use
of the features may be restricted.
• Depending on the apps or features, a screen
explaining the permissions may be displayed.
Also, the prompt screen may appear
several times or the on-screen display may
differ from screen to screen. Conrm the
content carefully and follow the on-screen
instructions.
• In this guide, some parts of the screen
display may be omitted.
au ID※Register your au phone number or any character string for au ID (user ID).
au ID password Register the password for the au ID.
※The same au ID as another user's cannot be registered.
The settings to use the convenient au functions and services are easy to do.
This section describes how to set up an au ID on the initial settings screen.
The settings can be changed with the "au ID Setting" app.

of the Edge Sense part (pressure
sensor) to shoot photos or videos,
and start the Google app.
An initial setup is required to use the
Edge Sense function. For details,

Network settings
Saving power
You can reduce battery power consumption by turning
off functions (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi tethering and
screen auto rotation, etc.) that are not being used on
Quick Settings panel if you want to use the product for a
long time.

■Wi-Fi connection settings
You can connect to the Internet using a wireless
LAN (Wi-Fi) environment built in your home, or
a public wireless LAN environment away from
home.
Before making wireless LAN (Wi-Fi) settings,
check the following information.
SSID
The name set for the public
wireless LAN service or
wireless LAN device to be
connected to

The password to connect
to the public wireless LAN
service or wireless LAN
device
※Connection to all public wireless LAN services is not
guaranteed.
※You may need a separate contract with the service
provider to use some public wireless LAN services.
※Enabling the wireless LAN (Wi-Fi) function uses a lot
of battery power.
We recommend turning off the wireless LAN (Wi-Fi)
function when not using it.
※We recommend making security settings such as
"WEP" or "WPA/WPA2 PSK" to prevent unauthorized
access.
Perform this operation in the environment where you can receive signals from the wireless LAN
devices that you want to access and the public wireless LAN service.

Note app or au Cloud app instead.)
• If you restore data by using a microSDTM memory card, save the data from your old phone to the microSDTM memory
card. (In case the au Settings Menu does not exist on your old au phone, use the au backup app instead.)
※In this document, "microSD memory card", "microSDHC memory card" and "microSDXC memory card" are abbreviated as "microSD
memory card".
