1 MT841 Overview
In this chapter you will learn about the appearance and features
of MT841.
1.1 Appearance
The MT841 is designed to provide a simple, cost-effective and
secure ADSL Internet connection for wired (Ethernet) and wireless
(802.11b/g) stations on your network. The MT841 combines
high-speed ADSL connection technology, built-in switch and supports
up to 4 Ethernet connections, TCP/IP routing and 802.11b/g wireless
connectivity in one compact unit.
1.2 Parts of MT841
1.2.1 Front Panel
Place the MT841 in a location where the LED indicators can be
easily viewed.
The LEDs on the front panel of MT841 are shown as below:

The meanings of LEDs are listed as follows:

1.2.2 Rear Panel
All cables are connected to the rear panel of MT841.
The ports and switch on the rear panel of MT841 are shown as
below:

ADSL
Plug one end of the cable into the ADSL port (RJ-11
receptacle) on the rear panel of the MT841 and insert
the other end into the RJ-11 wall socket.
USB
If your computer has an available USB port, you can
connect the MT841 to this USB port using a USB
cable.
LAN 1-4 You can establish 4 LAN connections at the same
time by these LAN ports.
Reset
The MT841 may be reset to the original factory
default settings by depressing the reset button for a
few seconds while the device is powered on.
Power Press the button after the power adapter to be
connected correctly to power on the device.
12V 1.2A The port for AC power adapter.
1.2.3 External Splitter
Using splitter can reduce disturbance signals in the telephone
line. MT841 has to use an external splitter, which has three ports:
LINE, PHONE and MODEM port.
zLINE: Connects to the telephone jack.
zPHONE: Connects to the telephone.
zMODEM: Connects to ADSL modem with RJ-11 telephone
line.

need to make in order to use the MT841.

2.1 Preparations
2.1.1 Checking Computer Configuration

2.2 Fixing of MT841
MT841 enables horizontal and vertical positions as well as
hanging on the wall. Place the MT841 in a location where the LED
indicators can be easily viewed.
2.3 Connecting MT841
2.3.1 Installing USB Driver
You should install the USB driver into your PC before using USB
connection. To install the USB driver, you must execute
“MT841Driver.exe” contained on the CD-ROM, which is provided with
the modem.
1) Double click “MT841Driver.exe” to open the Setup Wizard
window.

2) Then the installer will search the USB device for installation.

While the device to be found, the USB driver will be installed
automatically. During the installation, it doesn’t need any interference
from your side. If you are using Windows XP/2000, a new “Local Area
Connection” will then be built for USB port.
2.3.2 Connecting ADSL Line
Use the ADSL cable included with the MT841 to connect it to a
telephone wall socket or receptacle by the following steps..
1) Simply plug one end of the twisted-pair telephone cable into
the Modem port of the splitter and insert the other end into
the ADSL port on the rear panel of MT841.
2) Use another telephone cable to connect the splitter and the
Phone Jack in the wall.
2.3.3 Connecting the computer to MT841
Use a straight-through cable to connect your computer and
MT841. You can connect the MT841 directly to a 10/100Base-TX
Ethernet adapter card on your PC with the provided Ethernet cable as
shown in this diagram.
