When the boat is movin , water depth may chan e too quickly to
allow time for you to react. Always operate the boat at very slow
speeds if you suspect shallow water or submer ed objects.
WARNING! The electronic chart in your Humminbird unit is an
aid to navi ation desi ned to facilitate the use of authorized
overnment charts, not to replace them. Only official
overnment charts and notices to mariners contain all of the
current information needed for the safety of navi ation, and the
captain is responsible for their prudent use.

confi urations in which the antennas used for this transmitter
must be installed to provide a separation distance of at least
8 inches (20 cm) from all person and not be co-located with any
other transmitters except in accordance with FCC and Industry

(waypoints, routes, tracks, roups, recordin s, etc.) that may
occur due to direct or indirect dama e to the unit’s hardware or
software. It is important to back up your control head’s data files
periodically. Data files should also be saved to your PC before
restorin the control head defaults or updatin the software.
WARNING! Disassembly and repair of this electronic unit should
only be performed by authorized service personnel. Any
modification of the serial number or attempt to repair the
ori inal equipment or accessories by unauthorized individuals
will void the warranty.
WARNING! Do NOT leave the control head SD card slot cover
open. The slot cover should always be closed to prevent water
dama e to the unit.
WARNING! Do not travel at hi h speed with the unit cover
installed. Remove the unit cover before travelin at speeds
above 20 mph.
WARNING! You are responsible for the safe and prudent
operation of your vessel. We have desi ned i-Pilot Link to be an
accurate and reliable tool that will enhance boat operation and
improve your ability to catch fish. This product does not relieve
you from the responsibility for safe operation of your boat. You

permanent watch so you can respond to situations as they

approved accessories with your Minn Kota motor, such as this
i-Pilot Link system. Usin non-approved accessories includin
to mount or control your motor may cause dama e, unexpected
motor operation and injury. Be sure to use the product and
approved accessories, includin remotes, safely and in the
manner directed to avoid accidental or unexpected motor
operation. Keep all factory installed parts in place includin
motor and accessory covers, enclosures and uards.
WARNING! Be sure to know how to power the motor on and off,
and always be alert for unexpected motor movement, such as a
turnin propeller. Read this manual and the i-Pilot Link Owner’s
Manual for details.
WARNING! Due to safety reasons, the i-PIlot Link will not en a e
a position farther than 1/4 mile away.
CAUTION! The i-Pilot Link uses a ma netic compass to detect
direction of travel. The compass can be adversely affected by
ma nets or lar e, ferrous metal objects near (within 24” of) the
trollin motor control head. See the i-Pilot Link Owner’s Manual
for details.
Obstructions on the propeller may cause excessive vibration of
the motor head. This vibration can cause the compass to wander
and erratic steerin to occur. Clear the obstruction to return the
motor and i-Pilot Link system to normal operation. See your
i-Pilot Link Owner’s Manual for details.

stor , and r visit your most productiv fishing spots and tracks, taking control of it all from ith r th i-Pilot Link wir l ss r mot
control or dir ctly from th SOLIX, ONIX, or ION control h ad. Add an i-Pilot compatibl Humminbird Lak Mast r Map Card or
AutoChart Z roLin Map Card, and unlock th ability to automatically follow d pth contours for v n high r l v ls of boat control.

1|Purchase Ethernet Cables and Equipment
Th i-Pilot Link conn cts to th Humminbird control h ad Eth rn t port or th Humminbird Eth rn t Switch.
To plan th r quir d cabl l ngth, it is important to consid r th following:
•Th cabl s will b rout d from th trolling motor to th Humminbird control h ad (or Eth rn t Switch).
•Th cabl s should b rout d through an stablish d routing syst m on th boat, in an ar a with minimal int rf r nc . Insp ct
th s l ct d rout car fully to nsur that th r ar no sharp dg s, obstacl s, or obstructions that may damag th cabl s.
•Th cabl s will mov with th trolling motor wh n it is d ploy d and r tract d, so it is important to allow nough l ngth for
mov m nt. Check the Ulterra wh n it is compl t ly v rtical, at its high st point (b for trim) and at its low st point.

1. Us your i-Pilot Link Own r’s Manual to confirm th trolling motor is corr ctly install d and mount d to th bow of th boat.
2. Th boat and trolling motor must b locat d outsid and hav a dir ct vi w of th sky to obtain GPS sat llit signals.

3. V rify that all obstructions ar away from th prop ll r in all dir ctions in both th stow d and d ploy d positions.
4. Conn ct pow r to th trolling motor.
5. D ploy th motor so th motor shaft is compl t ly v rtical.
6. Th i-Pilot Link controll r will mit four short b ps on startup.
7. Turn off th pow r sourc .

Eth rn t Switch, install it using th instructions in th includ d installation guid .
WARNING! The power source must be turned off before you proceed with the installation.
1. Confirm that all pow r sourc s ar turn d off.
2. Locat th Eth rn t cabl on th i-Pilot Link.
3. If you are usin the Ethernet extension cable for your installation, conn ct it to th
Eth rn t cabl on th i-Pilot Link. Hand-tight n th scr w nut.
If you do not need the Ethernet extension cable for your installation, proc d to st p 4.
4. Rout th cabl to th Humminbird control h ad (SOLIX, ONIX, or ION) or optional Eth rn t
Switch.
NOTE: The cable should be routed throu h an established routin system on the boat, in an area
with minimal interference. Inspect the selected route carefully to ensure that there are no sharp
ed es, obstacles, or obstructions that may dama e the cables.
5. Humminbird Control Head (SOLIX, ONIX, or ION): Conn ct th Eth rn t Cabl conn ctor to

b conn ct d and pow r d b for you turn on th SOLIX, ONIX, or ION.
NOTE: If i-Pilot Link is connected durin navi ation, a messa e will display on-screen and navi ation will be canceled.
Power On

WARNING! Humminbird is not responsible for the loss of data files (waypoints, routes,
tracks, roups, snapshots, recordin s, etc.) that may occur due to direct or indirect dama e
to the unit’s hardware or software. It is important to back up your control head’s data files
periodically. Data files should also be saved to your PC before restorin the unit’s defaults
or updatin the software.
WARNING! Do NOT leave the control head SD card slot cover open. The slot cover should
always be closed to prevent water dama e to the unit.
