SAFETY WARNINGS
NOT TO BE REMOVED EXCEPT BY CONSUMER PPE:
The Retrograde Boot by Icon® is considered Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), as defined by European Directive 89/686/EEC. The protective
footwear described in this manual is considered Category II PPE and, as such, may only display the CE Marking after having undergone an EC Type
Approval and subsequent, relevant, Certification at a Notified European Body. Placement of the CE Marking on the protective footwear indicates
conformity with the Basic Health and Safety Requirements of Directive 89/686/EEC.
The protective footwear described in this manual, has undergone EC Type Examination at Ricotest s.r.l, Notified Body number 0498, to assure
compliance with Directive 89/686/EEC. It has additionally been examined and tested to assure its compliance with technical Standard: EN
13634:2015 “Protective Footwear for motorcycle riders – Requirements and test methods”.
USE RESTRICTIONS AND LIMITATIONS:
Use of Retrograde Boots is strictly limited to on-road motorcycling. Retrograde Boots are designed to offer, limited protection, in specific
circumstances, only. Retrograde Boots are designed for use as on-road motorcycling riding boots, only. Retrograde Boots are designed for use, in
addition to other personal protective equipment. The addition of Retrograde Boots to any other PPE or on-road motorcycling apparel being worn is
not intended to imply that said PPE or on-road motorcycling apparel is also CE approved. On-road motorcycling is inherently dangerous in nature and
use of Retrograde Boots cannot prevent injury or death. Icon® strongly suggests that, whenever engaged in motorcycling and for improved protection,
riders always use multiple forms of compatible PPE, including an approved helmet, a jacket with, at least, approved shoulder and elbow impact
protectors, an approved back protector, pants with, at least, approved knee, leg, and hip impact protectors, gloves, and approved boots.

SAFETY INSPECTIONS AND OBSOLESCENCE
Before Every Use:
Check the soles of the boots to confirm that they are in good condition and attached securely to the boots. Check the linings to confirm that they are
not ripped or torn. Check uppers to confirm that they are not cut, torn, cracked or worn. Check the hook and loop fastener material to confirm that
it is not filled with debris and may be engaged properly. Check the buckles and buckle straps to confirm they are not broken or damaged and can be
engaged correctly. Check the zippers to confirm that they operate properly and are not broken. Protective footwear that is improperly fastened cannot
protect the user. If the protective footwear or any parts of them become worn, replace the footwear immediately.
In the Event of an Impact or Accident:
In the event of an impact or accident, the key elements of the protective footwear may become compromised and the protective footwear may no
longer provide the limited protection against the forces described in the “Use Restrictions and Limitations” section above, and the “Performance”
and “Protection Limitations” sections below. The damage may not be visible to the naked eye. In all cases of impact or accident, replace the boots.
Replacement Retrograde Boots can be purchased at Icon® retail locations.
2 Year Rule:
In general, lightweight PPE such as the Retrograde Boot should be replaced at least every 2 years even if the PPE has not suffered any damage.
Damage may be present and may not always be identified by a simple visual inspection.
SAFETY WARNINGS
USE
Selecting the Correct Size:
In order to ensure you choose the correct size Retrograde Boot please see the table below
PPE Position and Fit:
For PPE to offer the maximum protection possible PPE must be placed on the areas to be protected and PPE must cover the protected areas
effectively. If the protective features are already incorporated into the PPE, then to be positioned correctly, the PPE must be the correct size. In all
cases, the proper equipment has been supplied to keep this PPE firmly in contact with the body.
Footwear:
Protective footwear fit is very important. The fit of different protective footwear styles varies due to differences in design and construction. Only use
protective footwear that fits properly. Any protective footwear that does not fit properly should not be used. Be sure that the protective footwear fits
snugly but not too tightly. Confirm that heel lift is minimal. Check to confirm adequate room in the toe box.
Wearing Instructions and Adjustment:
Repeat for each boot: Release the instep buckle strap by lifting the strap off of the buckle post and sliding the buckle strap out of the buckle. Open
the upper of the boot by pulling on the adjustment tab on the outside of the shin releasing the hook and loop material. Unzip zipper on rear of boot
by pulling zipper pull down. Pull the heel pull/gusset rearward so that the foot may be inserted. Insert foot, pulling the boot on. Slide foot all the way
down in the boot. Confirm boot fit. Boot should feel snug on foot but not too tight. Foot should be the same length as the boot without being too much
shorter or too much longer than the boot. Check to confirm that the heel pull/gusset is entirely inside the boot and does not interfere with the zipper.
Zip boot closed by pulling zipper pull up. Confirm that no pant, sock, heel pull/gusset or other material is caught in the zipper preventing it from
engaging completely. Reengage the instep buckle by passing the buckle strap through the buckle and pressing one of the holes in the buckle strap
onto the buckle post. Engage the adjustment tab on the outside of the calf by first pulling it rearward and then pressing the adjustment tab against
the calf, reengaging the hook and loop fastener material. Confirm that no pant, sock, or other material is caught in the adjustment tab hook and loop
fastener material preventing it from engaging completely. The fit should not impair circulation of the foot. If the boot is too tight at the instep or calf,
fit may be adjusted by releasing the buckle strap and adjustment tab as above and repositioning and reengaging them. Be sure that the boot is snug
enough to stay on the foot but not so tight that it impairs blood circulation or the range of motion of your foot. Check to confirm that wearing these
boots does not reduce your ability to operate the motorcycle controls.
For maximum protection and safety the protective footwear should not cause any discomfort and should not reduce the rider’s freedom of movement
or restrict the reach to, or operation of, the motorcycle controls while in a normal riding position. If you are unable to find a proper fit in this protective
footwear style, please try another CE certified protective footwear style.

PERFORMANCE
Retrograde Boots have undergone EC Type Examination to assure compliance with Directive 89/686/EEC. They have additionally been examined and
tested to assure their compliance with the appropriate technical Standard.
European standard EN 13634:2015 includes two performance levels in terms of the protection afforded. The degree of risk or hazard that a
motorcyclist will face is closely linked to the type of riding and the nature of the accident. Within standard EN 13634:2015 ‘Level 1’ performance
is deemed as the minimum level required in order for the footwear to provide useful protection in an accident, and offers footwear with an optimum
comfort level to suit all riding types. Where riders feel that their riding style or sport exposes them to an increased accident risk ‘Level 2’ has been
provided which offers increased performance – however it is likely that this additional level of protection has an increased penalty for the weight and
comfort, so may not be acceptable to all riders.

PROTECTION LIMITATIONS
General Use:
Retrograde Boots are intended to protect against ambient conditions without excessively impairing the user’s ability to control the motorcycle while
operating the foot controls. Retrograde Boots are designed with safety and dexterity in mind. Retrograde Boots are considered to be PPE because
they are designed and manufactured to provide limited protection to the foot and ankle during an accident or in the event of a fall from a motorcycle.
Additional particular hazards encountered during an on-road motorcycle accident may include: impacts with the rider’s motorcycle, conflicting
vehicles, and other roadside objects. The chances of serious injury are increased if the foot becomes trapped under the motorcycle during a sliding
impact. Retrograde Boots will not prevent traumas caused by high-energy impacts, traumas caused by severe forces of bending, twisting, torsion, or
crushing as the result of striking an object, or traumas caused by extreme movements or massive penetrations. The force levels used in the tests
do not compare directly to the forces motorcyclists are exposed to in real-world accidents, therefore, products that meet the requirements of the EN
13634:2015 Standard may only reduce the severity of some minor injuries. No protective footwear, can offer complete protection against all injuries,
the principle is to create a product that will help to reduce the risk of injury to the area, for which, the PPE was designed to provide limited protection.
Misuse that will degrade Retrograde Boots performance:
Retrograde Boots must be worn to provide any protection. Improper use of the Retrograde Boots can seriously compromise effectiveness and reduce
performance. In order for the Retrograde Boots to retain their original protective capabilities only use the Retrograde Boots for the purposes described
in the “Use Restrictions and Limitations” section of this user manual. Never tamper with any part of the boots. Never bend or twist the boots
excessively as this constitutes improper use. Do not paint the boots or use colorants of any nature.
Environmental conditions that will degrade Retrograde Boots performance:
Contamination with foreign substances and/or improper care can seriously compromise the Retrograde Boots‘ effectiveness and reduce their
performance. Do not expose the Retrograde Boots to extreme, direct sunlight or extreme moisture. Do not expose the Retrograde Boots to extremely
high or low temperatures like those found in a closed car or outdoor storage.
CARE INSTRUCTIONS:
Cleaning:
Use a suede/leather safe cleaner on the exterior leather portions of the boot only. Leather safe cleaners can be found at most shoe repair locations
or retail stores specializing in leather apparel. Use a rag dampened with clean water to wipe other exterior portions of the boot including buckles or
sole. Note that leather safe cleaner may darken the leather of the boot. Be sure to test any leather safe cleaner on an inconspicuous location, first,
before cleaning the boot. Do not use solvents or other toxic substances to clean the Retrograde Boots. Do not use hair dryers or other heaters to dry
the boots after cleaning.
Maintenance:
Regularly condition the exterior leather portions of the boots with a quality suede/leather-safe conditioner. Apply suede/leather conditioner to exterior
leather portions only. Do not apply leather conditioner to, boot interior, zippers, buckles, hook and loop fastening material, or sole. Suede/leather safe
conditioners can be found at most shoe repair locations or retail stores specializing in leather apparel.
SAFETY WARNINGS Storage:
Store the boots in a dry, ventilated area away from sunlight or direct heat. Ensure that they cannot be crushed, hit, dropped, or otherwise damaged by
impact, and that they are not stored under heavy objects. Do not store the boots with their weight distributed across a few, single points only. If wet
after use, before storing, dry boots in a ventilated space at room temperature; do not use hair dryers or other heaters.
Transport:
When transporting the boots do not leave them in a closed car for long periods of time and expose them to extremely high or low temperatures. Ensure
that they cannot be crushed, hit, dropped, or otherwise damaged by impact and that they are not transported under heavy objects.
Spare parts:
Replacement buckle kits are available from Icon® retailers.
Disposal:
At the end of the Retrograde Boots’ useful life, do not discard them into the environment. Dispose of them according to your local disposal
requirements.

CONTRAINTES ET LIMITATIONS D'UTILISATION
L'utilisation des bottes Retrograde est strictement limitée aux activités de moto sur route. Les bottes Retrograde sont conçues pour offrir une
protection limitée dans des circonstances spécifiques uniquement. Les bottes Retrograde sont conçues uniquement pour le motocyclisme sur route.
Les bottes Retrograde sont conçues pour être utilisées avec d'autres équipements de protection individuelle. Le seul ajout des bottes Retrograde à

vivement aux motards de toujours combiner plusieurs sortes d'EPI compatibles et approuvés (casque, veste avec, au minimum, protections contre les
chocs au niveau des épaules et des coudes, protection dorsale, pantalon de moto avec, au minimum, protections contre les chocs aux genoux, jambes
et hanches, gants et bottes agréées), pour une protection supérieure lors de leurs activités de moto.

Avant chaque utilisation:
Examinez les semelles des bottes pour vous assurer qu'elles sont en bon état et qu'elles sont fixées solidement au reste des bottes. Vérifiez que les
doublures ne sont pas arrachées ou déchirées. Vérifiez que la tige n'est pas perforée, déchirée, craquelée ou usée. Inspectez les bandes scratch pour
confirmer qu'elles ne contiennent pas de gravas et qu'elles s'engagent correctement. Vérifiez que les boucles et brides de boucles ne sont pas cassées
ou endommagées et s'engagent correctement. Vérifiez que les fermetures éclair fonctionnent correctement et qu'elles ne sont pas cassées. Des bottes
de protection mal attachées ne protègent pas leur utilisateur. Si les bottes de protection ou toute partie constituante sont usées, remplacez-les
immédiatement.
En cas d'impact ou d'accident:
En cas d'impact ou d'accident, les composants clés des bottes de protection peuvent être irrémédiablement abîmés. Ces dernières peuvent alors ne
plus être en mesure d'assurer la protection limitée contre les chocs décrite à la rubrique «Contraintes et limitations d'utilisation» ci-dessus et aux
rubriques «Performances» et «Limites de protection» ci-dessous. Il est possible que ce dégât ne soit pas visible à l'œil nu. En cas d'impact ou
d'accident, remplacez les bottes. Vous pouvez acheter de nouvelles bottes Retrograde auprès d'un distributeur Icon®.
Règle des 2ans:
En général, les EPI légers tels que les bottes Retrograde doivent être remplacés au moins tous les deux ans, même s'ils n'ont pas subi de dégâts. Une

UTILISATION
Choix de la bonne pointure:
Pour choisir la bonne pointure de bottes Retrograde, veuillez-vous reporter au tableau ci-dessous.
Positionnement et fixation des EPI:
Pour obtenir la meilleure protection possible, vous devez placer les EPI sur les parties du corps à protéger, et de manière à couvrir intégralement les
zones exposées. Si les EPI intègrent des renforts de protection, pour que ces derniers soient correctement positionnés sur les parties du corps à protéger,
il est essentiel que les EPI soient à la bonne taille. Dans tous les cas, l'équipement adéquat a été fourni de façon que l'EPI reste fermement en contact
avec le corps.
Bottes:
Il est très important que les bottes de protection soient à votre taille. En fonction de leur conception et de leur fabrication, les divers types de bottes ou
chaussures de protection vous iront différemment. Portez uniquement des bottes ou chaussures de protection adaptées à votre morphologie. N'utilisez pas
de bottes ou chaussures de protection qui ne sont pas adaptées à votre morphologie. Assurez-vous que les bottes ou chaussures de protection vous vont
parfaitement et ne sont pas trop serrées. Assurez-vous que votre talon ne peut pas trop se soulever. Assurez-vous que vos orteils ne sont pas trop à l'étroit.
Recommandations d'utilisation et ajustement:
Opération à répéter pour chaque botte: Dégagez la bride de la boucle située au niveau du cou-de-pied. Pour cela, soulevez la bride puis faites-la glisser
en dehors de la boucle. Ouvrez la tige de la botte. Pour ce faire, tirez sur la languette d'ajustement à l'extérieur du tibia de manière à détacher la bande
scratch. Ouvrez la fermeture éclair à l'arrière de la botte. Tirez la languette du talon/le soufflet vers l'arrière pour bien insérer le pied dans la botte.
Chaussez la botte. Placez le pied tout au fond de la botte. Assurez-vous que la botte vous va. Vous devez sentir que votre pied est bien maintenu dans
la botte, sans être trop serré. Le pied doit être de la même longueur que la botte. Vérifiez que la languette du talon/le soufflet se trouve entièrement à
l'intérieur de la botte et n'entrave pas la fermeture éclair. Fermez la botte en tirant la fermeture éclair vers le haut. Vérifiez que votre pantalon, votre
chaussette, la languette du talon/le soufflet ne sont pas coincés dans la fermeture éclair, l'empêchant ainsi de fermer complètement. Refermez la boucle
du cou-de-pied en passant d'abord la bride dans la boucle, puis en insérant l'embout dans l'un des trous. Attachez la languette d'ajustement à l'extérieur
du mollet en la tirant vers l'arrière puis en appuyant dessus pour rattacher la bande scratch. Vérifiez que votre pantalon, votre chaussette ou autre ne sont
pas coincés dans la bande scratch, l'empêchant ainsi de fermer complètement. La botte ne doit pas être serrée au point de bloquer la circulation sanguine
du pied. Si la botte est trop serrée au niveau du cou-de-pied ou du mollet, elle peut être réajustée en détachant la bride de la boucle et la languette
comme indiqué ci-dessus, puis en les repositionnant et en les rattachant. La botte doit être suffisamment ajustée pour maintenir le pied, sans être serrée
au point d'entraver la circulation sanguine ou de bloquer tout mouvement du pied. Vérifiez que le port de ces bottes ne réduit pas votre capacité à utiliser
les commandes de votre moto.
Pour une protection et une sécurité maximales, les bottes de protection ne doivent causer aucune gêne et ne doivent pas limiter la liberté de mouvement
du motard ou restreindre l'accès aux commandes de la moto, dans une position normale de pilotage. Si votre pointure n'est pas disponible dans ce modèle
de bottes de protection, veuillez essayer un autre type de bottes de protection certifiées CE.

PERFORMANCES
Les bottes Retrograde ont subi un examen «CE de type» pour assurer leur conformité à la directive 89/686/CEE. Elles ont également été examinées
et testées pour assurer leur conformité à la norme technique pertinente.
La norme européenne EN 13634:2015 prévoit deux niveaux de performance en termes de protection. Le degré de risque auquel est exposé un
motard est étroitement lié à l'utilisation qu'il fait de sa moto et à la nature de l'accident dans lequel il peut être impliqué. Dans le cadre de la norme
EN13634:2015, la performance de niveau1 offre la protection minimum requise pour les bottes en cas d'accident et un niveau de confort optimum
pour tous les types d'activités motocyclistes. Il appartient au motard de décider si son style de conduite ou le type d'activité qu'il pratique l'exposent
à un risque d'accident plus élevé. Dans ce cas, une performance de niveau2 est prévue. Cependant, cette protection supplémentaire implique des
vêtements plus lourds et moins confortables qui peuvent ne pas convenir à tous les motards.

LIMITES DE PROTECTION
Utilisation générale:
Les bottes Retrograde doivent protéger des conditions ambiantes sans réduire excessivement la capacité de l'utilisateur à contrôler la moto à l'aide
des commandes activées avec le pied. Les bottes Retrograde sont conçues dans une optique de sécurité et de dextérité. Les bottes Retrograde sont
considérées comme des équipements de protection individuelle (EPI) car elles sont conçues pour fournir une protection limitée des pieds et chevilles
en cas d'accident ou de chute de moto. Les dangers particuliers pouvant se présenter en cas d'accident de moto sur route comprennent également:
des impacts avec la propre moto du pilote, d'autres véhicules et des obstacles sur le bas-côté. Les possibilités de blessures graves augmentent
si le pied se retrouve coincé sous la moto pendant un impact suivi d'une glissade. Les bottes Retrograde ne protègent pas contre les traumatismes
causés par des torsions, des chocs violents ou des mouvements extrêmes, ni contre les pressions résultant d'un impact. Les niveaux de force des
tests effectués sont loin d'être comparables aux forces auxquelles sont exposés les motards lors d'un accident en conditions réelles. Par conséquent, les
produits respectant les exigences de la norme EN 13634:2015 peuvent uniquement atténuer la gravité de certaines blessures mineures. Aucune
botte de protection ne peut garantir de protection intégrale contre toutes les blessures. Ces équipements visent seulement à réduire les risques de
blessures pour les zones qu'ils protègent.
Conditions d'utilisation risquant de nuire aux performances des bottes Retrograde:
Les bottes Retrograde doivent être portées pour offrir une protection. Toute utilisation inappropriée des bottes Retrograde peut gravement
compromettre leur efficacité et leurs performances. Afin de maintenir leur capacité de protection originelle, veillez à utiliser les bottes Retrograde
conformément aux indications de la rubrique «Contraintes et limitations d'utilisation». N'essayez jamais de modifier des composants de ces bottes.
N'exercez jamais de torsion excessive sur les bottes: cela constitue un cas d'utilisation inappropriée. Ne peignez pas les bottes et n'appliquez aucune
teinture, de quelque nature que ce soit.
Conditions environnementales risquant de nuire aux performances des bottes Retrograde:
Tout ajout de substances étrangères et/ou tout entretien non adapté peuvent gravement compromettre l'efficacité et les performances des bottes
Retrograde. N'exposez pas les bottes Retrograde directement aux rayons du soleil ou à une humidité extrême. Conservez-les à l'abri des températures
extrêmes (basses ou élevées), telles que celles d'un véhicule fermé ou d'un lieu de stockage extérieur.
CONSEILS D'ENTRETIEN
Nettoyage:
Utilisez uniquement un produit nettoyant pour cuir/daim sur les parties extérieures en cuir. La plupart des cordonneries et des boutiques spécialisées
dans le cuir proposent de tels produits nettoyants. Utilisez un chiffon et de l'eau propre pour nettoyer les parties extérieures de la botte (boucles
ou semelles). Remarque: le produit nettoyant peut assombrir le cuir de la botte. Avant de l'appliquer sur tout le cuir de la botte, essayez le produit
nettoyant sur une partie non visible. N'utilisez pas de solvants ou autres substances toxiques pour nettoyer les bottes Retrograde. N'utilisez pas de
sèche-cheveux ou autres appareils chauffants pour sécher les bottes après le nettoyage.
Entretien:
Entretenez régulièrement les parties extérieures en cuir des bottes avec un produit spécial pour cuir/daim de qualité. Appliquez le produit uniquement
sur les parties extérieures en cuir, et non sur l'intérieur des bottes, les fermetures éclair, les boucles, les bandes scratch ou les semelles. La plupart
des cordonneries et des boutiques spécialisées dans le cuir proposent des produits traitants pour le cuir/daim.
AVERTISSEMENTS DE SÉCURITÉ Rangement:
Rangez les bottes dans un endroit sec et bien aéré, à l'abri des rayons du soleil ou de toute source de chaleur directe. Assurez-vous qu'elles ne peuvent
pas être comprimées, heurtées, renversées ou endommagées par tout autre impact et qu'elles ne se trouvent pas sous des objets lourds. Ne rangez pas
les bottes en répartissant leur poids sur quelques points uniquement. Si elles sont mouillées après utilisation, séchez les bottes avant de les ranger,
dans un espace aéré et à température ambiante. N'utilisez pas de sèche-cheveux ou autres appareils chauffants.
Transport:
Si vous transportez les bottes, ne les laissez pas dans une voiture fermée pendant de longues périodes et ne les exposez pas à des températures
extrêmement élevées ou basses. Assurez-vous qu'elles ne peuvent pas être comprimées, heurtées, renversées ou endommagées par tout autre impact
et qu'elles ne se trouvent pas sous des objets lourds.

Vous pouvez vous procurer des boucles de remplacement auprès des revendeurs Icon®.
Mise au rebut:
À la fin du cycle de vie des bottes Retrograde, ne les jetez pas dans la nature. Mettez-les au rebut conformément aux dispositions locales en vigueur.

Der Retrograde Stiefel von Icon® gilt als persönliche Schutzausrüstung (PSA) gemäß EU-Richtlinie 89/686/EWG. Die in dieser Anleitung
beschriebenen Schutzschuhe gelten als PSA der KategorieII und dürfen daher die CE-Kennzeichnung nur nach einer EG-Typgenehmigung und der
anschließenden entsprechenden Zertifizierung durch eine anerkannte europäische Prüfstelle tragen. Das Anbringen der CE-Kennzeichnung an den
Schutzschuhen bestätigt ihre Übereinstimmung mit den grundlegenden Sicherheits- und Gesundheitsanforderungen der EU-Richtlinie 89/686/EWG.
Die in dieser Anleitung beschriebenen Schutzschuhe wurden von Ricotest s.r.l., einer anerkannten Prüfstelle mit der Kennziffer 0498, zum Nachweis
der Übereinstimmung mit der Richtlinie 89/686/EWG einer EG-Baumusterprüfung unterzogen. Sie wurden zusätzlich untersucht und geprüft, um
ihre Konformität mit der technischen Norm EN 13634:2015 „Schutzschuhe für Motorradfahrer – Anforderungen und Prüfverfahren“ nachzuweisen.
EINSATZBESCHRÄNKUNGEN UND -BEGRENZUNGEN:
Der Einsatz der Retrograde Stiefel ist ausschließlich auf das Fahren von Straßenmotorrädern beschränkt. Die Retrograde Stiefel bieten nur unter
ganz bestimmten Umständen beschränkten Schutz. Die Retrograde Stiefel sind nur für den Einsatz beim Fahren von Straßenmotorrädern bestimmt.
Die Retrograde Stiefel sind für den Einsatz in Kombination mit anderen Elementen persönlicher Schutzausrüstung bestimmt. Die Ergänzung anderer
PSA oder Straßenmotorradbekleidung durch die Retrograde Stiefel impliziert nicht, dass diese PSA oder Straßenmotorradbekleidung ebenfalls
CE-zugelassen ist. Das Fahren mit Straßenmotorrädern ist von Natur aus gefährlich, und der Einsatz von Retrograde Stiefeln kann Verletzungen
oder Todesfälle nicht verhindern. Icon® empfiehlt dringend, beim Motorradfahren immer mehrere Arten von PSA zu verwenden, darunter einen
zugelassenen Helm, eine Jacke mit zugelassenen Schulter- und Ellbogenprotektoren, einen zugelassenen Rückenprotektor, Hosen mit zugelassenen
Knie-, Bein- und Hüftprotektoren, Handschuhe und zugelassene Stiefel.

Bezeichnung der Schutzschuhe oder interner Fertigungscode
Herstellername oder -logo
Schutzschuhgröße mit zugehöriger Länderkennzeichnung. Die unbezeichnete Größe ist eine
US-amerikanische Einheit.
Zusätzlich zur oben beschriebenen Kennzeichnung sind auf einem separaten Etikett das Jahr und mindestens
das Quartal der Herstellung angegeben. Daneben können zusätzliche codierte Informationen vorhanden sein,
mit denen Icon® das Produkt nachverfolgt. Der Code kann auch in anderen Versionen der Kennzeichnung
vorkommen.
Die CE-Kennzeichnung bestätigt, dass die Schutzschuhe mit den Anforderungen der Richtlinie 89/686/EWG
übereinstimmen

Richtlinien 89/686/EWG und EN 13634:2015 vorgesehen sind. Die CE-Kennzeichnung befindet sich auf einem Etikett, das auf die Retrograde
Stiefel aufgestickt ist.

Vor jedem Einsatz:
Sorgen Sie dafür, dass sich die Sohlen in einwandfreiem Zustand befinden und sicher an den Stiefeln befestigt sind. Vergewissern Sie sich, dass das
Futter unbeschädigt ist. Stellen Sie sicher, dass das Obermaterial keine Schnitte, Schäden, Risse oder Verschleißerscheinungen aufweist. Stellen
Sie sicher, dass die Klettverschlüsse nicht verschmutzt sind und dass sie sich einwandfrei schließen lassen. Prüfen Sie die Schnallen und Riemen,
um sich zu vergewissern, dass sie nicht abgenutzt oder beschädigt sind und sicher geschlossen werden können. Prüfen Sie die Reißverschlüsse, um
sicherzugehen, dass sie sachgemäß funktionieren und nicht beschädigt sind. Nicht einwandfrei sitzende Schutzschuhe bieten dem Träger keinen
Schutz. Wenn die Schutzschuhe oder Teile davon verschleißen, müssen die Schuhe umgehend ausgetauscht werden.
Bei einem Aufprall oder Unfall:
Bei einem Aufprall oder Unfall können die Kernbestandteile der Schutzschuhe beschädigt werden, und die Schutzschuhe bieten möglicherweise
nicht mehr den im Absatz „Einsatzbeschränkungen und -begrenzungen“ und in den nachfolgenden Absätzen „Leistung“ und „Einschränkungen des
Schutzes“ beschriebenen eingeschränkten Schutz. Mit bloßem Auge ist der Schaden eventuell nicht zu erkennen. Die Stiefel müssen nach jeder Art
von Aufprall oder Unfall ersetzt werden. Retrograde Ersatzstiefel sind bei jedem Icon® Händler erhältlich.
2-Jahres-Regel:
Leichte PSA wie der Retrograde Stiefel sollte spätestens alle zwei Jahre ersetzt werden, selbst wenn sie keine Schäden aufweist. Schäden sind u.U.
nicht durch eine einfache visuelle Inspektion zu erkennen.

EINSATZ
Auswahl der richtigen Größe:
Beachten Sie bitte die folgende Tabelle zur Auswahl der richtigen Größe der Retrograde Stiefel:
PSA-Positionierung und -Sitz:
Damit die PSA größtmöglichen Schutz bietet, muss sie auf den zu schützenden Bereichen platziert werden und diese wirksam abdecken. Falls die
Schutzmerkmale bereits in die PSA integriert sind, muss diese für eine korrekte Positionierung in der richtigen Größe vorliegen. Auf jeden Fall wurde
die richtige Ausrüstung mitgeliefert, die gewährleistet, dass die PSA eng am Körper anliegt.
Schuhe:
Der Sitz der Schutzschuhe ist äußerst wichtig. Der Sitz unterschiedlicher Schutzschuhe variiert aufgrund von Design und Konstruktion. Verwenden
Sie ausschließlich gut sitzende Schutzschuhe. Schutzschuhe, die nicht richtig passen, sollten nicht verwendet werden. Achten Sie darauf, dass
die Schutzschuhe eng anliegen, ohne zu drücken. Stellen Sie sicher, dass die Ferse nur minimalen Spielraum hat. Stellen Sie sicher, dass Sie im
Zehenbereich genügend Platz haben.
Tragehinweise und Einstellung:
An jedem Stiefel vorzunehmende Einstellung: Lösen Sie den Riemen an der Schnalle am Spann, indem Sie ihn vom Schnallenstift heben und aus der
Schnalle ziehen. Öffnen Sie die Oberseite des Stiefels, indem Sie am Einstellriemen an der Außenseite des Schienbeins ziehen, um den Klettverschluss
zu lösen. Ziehen Sie den Reißverschluss hinten am Stiefel nach unten auf. Ziehen Sie die Versteifung an der Ferse nach hinten, damit der Fuß in den
Stiefel passt. Setzen Sie den Fuß in den Stiefel und ziehen Sie gleichzeitig am Stiefel. Schieben Sie den Fuß vollständig in den Stiefel hinein. Stellen
Sie sicher, dass der Stiefel einwandfrei sitzt. Der Stiefel sollte eng, aber nicht zu fest am Fuß anliegen. Die Länge des Stiefels sollte der des Fußes
entsprechen, nicht viel kürzer oder länger. Stellen Sie sicher, dass die Versteifung an der Ferse sich vollständig im Stiefel befindet und nicht mit dem
Reißverschluss in Konflikt gerät. Ziehen Sie den Reißverschluss nach oben zu. Achten Sie darauf, dass sich weder Hose noch Socken, die Versteifung
an der Ferse oder anderes Material im Reißverschluss verfangen haben und dadurch ein vollständiges Schließen verhindern. Schließen Sie die Schnalle
am Spann wieder, indem Sie den Riemen durch die Schnalle führen und eines der Löcher im Riemen auf den Schnallenstift heben. Schließen Sie
den Einstellriemen außen an der Wade, indem Sie ihn erst nach hinten ziehen und dann gegen die Wade drücken, wodurch der Klettverschluss wieder
geschlossen wird. Achten Sie darauf, dass sich weder Hose noch Socken im Klettverschluss des Einstellriemens verfangen haben und dadurch ein
vollständiges Schließen verhindern. Der Stiefel darf die Blutzirkulation im Fuß nicht beeinträchtigen. Sitzt der Stiefel am Spann oder an der Wade zu
eng, lösen Sie den Riemen an der Schnalle am Spann und den Einstellriemen wie oben beschrieben, lockern Sie die Riemen und schließen Sie sie
dann erneut. Vergewissern Sie sich, dass der Stiefel fest genug sitzt, um nicht vom Fuß zu rutschen. Er sollte jedoch nicht die Blutzirkulation oder
den Bewegungsspielraum des Fußes einschränken. Überprüfen Sie, dass die Stiefel die Betätigung der Motorradbedienelemente nicht behindern.
Um ein Maximum an Schutz und Sicherheit zu erzielen, müssen die Schutzschuhe bequem sitzen und dürfen die Bewegungsfreiheit des Fahrers
sowie die Erreichbarkeit bzw. die Betätigung der Bedienelemente des Motorrads in einer normalen Fahrposition nicht beeinträchtigen. Sollten diese
Schutzschuhe nicht richtig sitzen, probieren Sie bitte andere Schutzschuhe mit CE-Zertifikat.

Retrograde Stiefel wurden einer EG-Baumusterprüfung unterzogen, um die Konformität mit der Richtlinie 89/686/EWG nachzuweisen. Sie wurden
zusätzlich untersucht und geprüft, um ihre Konformität mit der entsprechenden technischen Norm nachzuweisen.
Die europäische Norm EN 13634:2015 umfasst zwei Leistungsstufen hinsichtlich der Schutzfunktion. Welches Risiko oder welche Gefahren ein
Motorradfahrer eingeht, hängt stark von der Fahrweise und von der Art des Unfalls ab. Innerhalb der Norm EN 13634:2015 gilt „Leistungsstufe1“
als Mindeststufe zum effektiven Schutz durch den Schuh bei einem Unfall. Sie gilt für Schuhe mit hohem Komfort für Fahrten aller Art. Für
Motorradfahrer, die durch ihren Fahrstil oder Sport ein höheres Unfallrisiko eingehen, wurde die „Leistungsstufe2“ mit höherer Schutzfunktion
eingeführt. Für diesen zusätzlichen Schutz müssen jedoch ein höheres Gewicht und ein geringerer Tragekomfort in Kauf genommen werden, daher
ist diese Stufe unter Umständen nicht für jeden Fahrer geeignet.

EINSCHRÄNKUNGEN DES SCHUTZES
Allgemeine Nutzung:
Die Retrograde Stiefel sollen vor Umgebungsbedingungen schützen, ohne die Betätigung der Fußbedienelemente des Motorrads übermäßig zu
beeinträchtigen. Bei der Konstruktion der Retrograde Stiefel wurde auf Sicherheit und Beweglichkeit geachtet. Retrograde Stiefel werden als PSA
betrachtet, da sie bei einem Unfall oder Sturz vom Motorrad für einen beschränkten Schutz von Fuß und Fußgelenk sorgen. Zusätzliche Gefahren
bei einem Unfall mit einem Straßenmotorrad können Folgendes umfassen: Aufprall auf das Motorrad des Fahrers, auf andere beteiligte Fahrzeuge
oder auf Objekte am Straßenrand. Die Gefahr einer ernsthaften Verletzung steigt, wenn der Fuß während eines Rutschaufpralls unter dem Motorrad
eingekeilt wird. Retrograde Stiefel verhindern keine Traumen durch starken Aufprall, Traumen durch hohe Biege-, Torsions- oder Druckkräfte,
wie sie durch das Schlagen gegen ein Objekt auftreten können, bzw. Traumen, die durch extreme Bewegungen oder ein tiefes Eindringen von
Objekten verursacht werden. Das in den Tests verwendete Kraftniveau lässt sich nicht direkt mit den Kräften vergleichen, denen Motorradfahrer bei
tatsächlichen Unfällen ausgesetzt sind. Produkte, die den Anforderungen von Norm EN 13634:2015 gerecht werden, können daher die Schwere
bestimmter leichter Verletzungen lediglich mindern. Schutzschuhe können keinen kompletten Schutz vor Verletzungen bieten. Sie sollen lediglich
dazu beitragen, das Verletzungsrisiko im geschützten Bereich zu verringern.
Falsche Verwendung, die die Leistung der Retrograde Stiefel beeinträchtigt:
Retrograde Stiefel müssen getragen werden, um überhaupt Schutz zu gewährleisten. Der falsche Einsatz der Retrograde Stiefel kann ihre Effektivität
erheblich beeinträchtigen und die Leistung verringern. Damit Retrograde Stiefel ihre ursprünglichen Schutzfähigkeiten beibehalten, dürfen sie nur
auf die unter „Einsatzbeschränkungen und -begrenzungen“ beschriebene Weise verwendet werden. Die Stiefel dürfen nicht manipuliert werden. Die
Stiefel dürfen nicht übermäßig verbogen oder verdreht werden. Die Stiefel dürfen nicht lackiert oder mit Farbstoffen bearbeitet werden.
Umweltbedingungen, die zu einer Verschlechterung der Leistung der Retrograde Stiefel führen:
Verschmutzung durch Fremdsubstanzen bzw. falsche Behandlung können die Wirksamkeit der Retrograde Stiefel und deren Leistung erheblich
verringern. Die Retrograde Stiefel dürfen weder starkem direktem Sonnenlicht noch extremer Feuchtigkeit ausgesetzt werden. Die Retrograde Stiefel
dürfen keinen extrem hohen oder niedrigen Temperaturen, wie z.B. in einem geschlossenen Fahrzeug oder bei der Lagerung im Freien, ausgesetzt
werden.
PFLEGEANLEITUNG:
Reinigung:
Verwenden Sie spezielle Wildleder-/Lederreinigungsmittel ausschließlich für die äußeren Lederpartien des Stiefels. Solche Reinigungsmittel sind in
den meisten Schuhwerkstätten oder Lederwarengeschäften erhältlich. Wischen Sie weitere äußere Partien des Stiefels einschließlich Schnallen oder
Sohle mit einem sauberen, feuchten Tuch ab. Beachten Sie, dass Lederreinigungsmittel das Leder des Schuhs dunkler werden lassen können. Testen
Sie Lederreinigungsmittel stets an einer unauffälligen Stelle, bevor Sie den Stiefel reinigen. Keine Lösungsmittel oder anderen giftigen Substanzen
zum Reinigen der Retrograde Stiefel verwenden. Trocknen Sie die Stiefel nach der Reinigung nicht mit Haartrocknern oder anderen Heizgeräten.
Pflege:
Behandeln Sie die äußeren Lederpartien der Stiefel regelmäßig mit einem hochwertigen Wildleder-/Lederpflegemittel. Wenden Sie das Wildleder-/
Lederpflegemittel nur auf die äußeren Lederpartien an. Tragen Sie das Lederpflegemittel nicht auf das Stiefelinnere, auf Reißverschlüsse, Schnallen,
Klettverschlüsse oder die Sohle auf. Spezielle Wildleder-/Lederpflegemittel sind in den meisten Schuhwerkstätten oder in Lederwarengeschäften
erhältlich.
SICHERHEITSWARNUNGEN Lagerung:
Lagern Sie die Stiefel in einem trockenen, belüfteten Bereich ohne direkte Sonneneinstrahlung oder Wärme. Achten Sie darauf, dass sie nicht
eingedrückt, gestoßen, fallen gelassen oder auf andere Weise beschädigt werden können und nicht unter schweren Gegenständen gelagert werden.
Lagern Sie die Stiefel nicht so, dass ihr Gewicht nur an wenigen Einzelpunkten getragen wird. Trocknen Sie nasse Stiefel nach der Nutzung in einem
gut belüfteten Raum bei Zimmertemperatur. Verwenden Sie keinen Haartrockner oder andere Heizgeräte.
Transport:
Lassen Sie die Stiefel beim Transport nicht über einen längeren Zeitraum im Auto und setzen Sie sie keinen extrem hohen bzw. niedrigen
Temperaturen aus. Achten Sie darauf, dass sie nicht eingedrückt, gestoßen, fallen gelassen oder auf andere Weise beschädigt werden können und
nicht unter schweren Gegenständen transportiert werden.
Ersatzteile:
Ersatzschnallen sind bei Icon® Händlern erhältlich.
Entsorgung:
Entsorgen Sie die Retrograde Stiefel immer ordnungsgemäß entsprechend den örtlichen Vorschriften.

Lo stivale da moto Retrograde di Icon® è considerato un dispositivo di protezione individuale (DPI), come definito nella direttiva europea 89/686/CEE.
Le calzature di protezione descritte in questo manuale sono considerate DPI di Categoria II e, pertanto, possono esporre il marchio CE solo dopo aver
superato un'approvazione di tipo CE e aver conseguito una successiva e pertinente certificazione presso un organismo notificato dell'Unione Europea.
La presenza del marchio CE sulle calzature di protezione indica la conformità del prodotto ai requisiti essenziali di salute e di sicurezza (Basic Health
and Safety Requirements), in base alla direttiva 89/686/CEE.
Le calzature di protezione descritte in questo manuale sono state sottoposte all'esame CE del tipo presso Ricotest s.r.l, numero organismo notificato

RESTRIZIONI E LIMITAZIONI D'USO
L'uso degli stivali Retrograde è strettamente limitato al motociclismo su strada. Gli stivali Retrograde sono progettati per offrire una protezione
limitata e solo in determinate condizioni. Gli stivali Retrograde sono progettati esclusivamente per l'uso nel motociclismo su strada. Gli stivali
Retrograde sono progettati per essere utilizzati solo con altri dispositivi di protezione individuale. L'utilizzo degli stivali Retrograde con qualsiasi altro
DPI o abbigliamento da motociclismo su strada non implica che anche il suddetto DPI o abbigliamento per motociclismo su strada sia omologato CE.
Il motociclismo su strada è considerato uno sport pericoloso e l'utilizzo degli stivali Retrograde non è sufficiente a impedire infortuni anche gravi o il
decesso. Quando si pratica il motociclismo e per una maggiore protezione personale, Icon® consiglia ai motociclisti di utilizzare sempre diversi tipi
di DPI compatibili, tra cui casco omologato, giacca omologata con protezione contro gli impatti per spalle e gomiti, paraschiena omologato, pantaloni

ISPEZIONI DI SICUREZZA E OBSOLESCENZA
Prima dell'utilizzo
Controllare le suole degli stivali per verificare che siano in buone condizioni e fissate in maniera sicura agli stivali. Controllare la fodera per verificare
che non sia lacerata o consumata. Controllare la tomaia per verificare non sia tagliata, lacerata, danneggiata o usurata. Verificare che l'allacciatura
a gancio sia chiusa, aderisca correttamente e non sia in alcun modo ostruita dalla presenza di detriti. Controllare che le fibbie e le relative cinghie
non siano rotte o danneggiate e che si aggancino correttamente. Controllare le cerniere lampo per verificare che funzionino correttamente e non siano
danneggiate. Le calzature di protezione fissate in modo improprio non garantiscono la protezione dell'utente. Se la calzatura di protezione o le relative
parti presentano segni di usura, sostituire la calzatura immediatamente.
In caso di impatto o incidente
Un eventuale impatto o incidente, potrebbe compromettere le parti principali della calzatura di protezione che potrebbe non fornire più la protezione
limitata contro le forze trasmesse descritte nella sezione "Restrizioni e limitazioni d'uso" riportata sopra e nelle sezioni "Prestazioni" e "Limiti di
protezione" di seguito. Il danno potrebbe non essere visibile a occhio nudo. In tutti i casi di impatto o incidente, sostituire gli stivali. È possibile
acquistare nuovi stivali Retrograde presso i rivenditori Icon®.
Regola dei 2 anni
In generale, i DPI come gli stivali Retrograde dovrebbero essere sostituiti almeno ogni 2 anni anche se non presentano danni. Potrebbero infatti
presentare danni non facilmente individuabili a occhio nudo.
AVVERTENZE PER LA SICUREZZA

Scelta della taglia giusta:
Per scegliere la misura più adatta degli stivali Retrograde fare riferimento alla tabella riportata di seguito
Posizione e aderenza dei DPI
Per sfruttare al massimo la protezione offerta, i dispositivi di protezione individuale devono essere posizionati correttamente e coprire completamente
l'area interessata. Se le caratteristiche di protezione sono già incorporate nei dispositivi di protezione individuale, per ottenere un corretto
posizionamento i DPI devono essere della misura corretta. In tutti i casi viene fornito tutto il necessario per mantenere i dispositivi di protezione
individuale a stretto contatto con il corpo.
Calzature
È molto importante che le calzature di protezione calzino correttamente. Ciò può variare in base al modello e al metodo di fabbricazione. Utilizzare
solo calzature di protezione che calzano correttamente. Non utilizzare calzature di protezione che non calzano correttamente. Assicurarsi che la
calzatura di protezione calzi bene, ma che non sia eccessivamente stretta. Verificare che il sollevamento del tallone sia minimo. Verificare che ci sia
sufficiente spazio nella punta degli stivali.
Come indossare e regolare gli stivali
Ripetere per entrambi gli stivali: sganciare la cinghia della fibbia all'altezza del collo del piede sollevandola dal montante della fibbia e facendola
scorrere fuori da essa. Aprire la parte superiore dello stivale tirando l'aletta di regolazione nella parte esterna in corrispondenza della tibia, sganciando
l'allacciatura a gancio e il velcro. Aprire la cerniera lampo situata sul lato posteriore dello stivale abbassando il tiretto. Tirare indietro il gherone per
facilitare l'inserimento del piede. Infilare il piede, tirando lo stivale. Far scorrere il piede lungo tutto lo stivale. Far calzare perfettamente lo stivale.
Gli stivali devono calzare perfettamente ma non devono essere eccessivamente stretti. Il piede deve essere della stessa lunghezza dello stivale, né
troppo più corto né troppo più lungo. Verificare che il gherone sia completamente all'interno dello stivale e che non intralci la cerniera. Chiudere lo
stivale alzando il tiretto della cerniera lampo. Assicurarsi che il tessuto di pantaloni, calzini, gherone o altro non rimanga incastrato nella cerniera
impedendone la chiusura completa. Agganciare nuovamente la fibbia inserendovi la relativa cinghia e premendo uno dei fori della cinghia nel
montante della fibbia. Inserire l'aletta di regolazione nella parte esterna del polpaccio premendola inizialmente indietro, quindi premendola contro
il polpaccio stesso; in questo modo è possibile richiudere l'allacciatura a gancio e il velcro. Assicurarsi che il tessuto di pantaloni, calzini o altro non
rimanga incastrato nell'aletta di regolazione impedendone la chiusura completa. L'aderenza non deve essere tale da ostacolare la circolazione del
sangue del piede. Se lo stivale è troppo stretto sul collo del piede o sul polpaccio, la calzata può essere regolata allentando l'aletta di regolazione come
indicato sopra e riposizionandola. Assicurarsi che gli stivali siano abbastanza aderenti ma non così stretti da impedire la circolazione sanguigna o il
movimento del piede. Dopo averli indossati, verificare che gli stivali non limitino in alcun modo le capacità di guida del motociclo.
Per ottenere la massima protezione e sicurezza, la calzatura non deve causare alcun fastidio né ridurre la libertà di movimento dei motociclisti; inoltre,
non deve limitare le operazioni di guida né l'accesso ai comandi del motociclo mentre il pilota si trova in una posizione di guida normale. Se gli stivali

Gli stivali Retrograde sono stati sottoposti all'esame di tipo CE per garantire la conformità con la direttiva 89/686/CEE. Inoltre, sono state esaminate
e testate per garantirne la conformità alla normativa tecnica pertinente.
La normativa europea EN 13634:2015 include due livelli di prestazioni in termini di protezione. Il grado di rischio a cui vengono sottoposti i
motociclisti è strettamente collegato al tipo di guida e alla natura dell'incidente. Nell'ambito della normativa EN 13634:2015, il "Livello 1" indica le
prestazioni minime affinché la calzatura fornisca protezione efficace in caso di incidente e include calzature che offrono un comfort ottimale per tutti
i tipi di guida. Per i motociclisti che corrono un rischio maggiore di incidente a causa del proprio stile di guida o dello sport praticato, il "Livello2"
offre prestazioni superiori. Tuttavia, è possibile che il livello aggiuntivo di protezione abbia ripercussioni sul peso e sulla comodità della calzatura,
pertanto questo livello potrebbe non essere adatto a tutti i motociclisti.
