CN2 Communications Dock Quick Start Guide
You can use the CN2 Communications Dock (P/N 074248) to:
• provide power to the CN2.
• charge the battery while it is in the CN2.
• transfer data and applications through a USB (universal serial
bus) Type B connection.
This guide describes how to install and use the communications
dock.

Documentation
Shipping Package Contents: This illustration shows the contents of the CN2
communications dock kit.
To use the communications dock you also need these items (sold
and ordered separately):
• USB interface cable (P/N 321-576-002)
• Power supply (P/N 074246)
• Country-specific power cord
You must use the appropriate Intermec power
supply with this device or equipment damage may
occur.
Installing the Communications Dock
1 Place the communications dock on a flat, stable, and clean
surface that is within 1.5 m (5 ft) of an AC outlet.
2 Connect the power supply to the Power port on the back of
the communications dock.

3 Connect the other end of the power supply to an AC power
outlet.

Power light
The green Power light on the front of the communications
dock turns on. The communications dock is now ready to
charge a battery in a CN2.
Note: The light on the left side of the communications
dock is not used.
4 (Optional) Connect a USB Type B communications cable to
the USB port on the back of the communications dock and
connect the other end of the cable to a USB device.
Charging the CN2
• Remove the serial port plug from the serial port, and place the
CN2 in the communications dock. The battery is fully charged
in approximately 4 hours.
Troubleshooting
If you are having problems operating the communications dock,
make sure that the:
• battery is correctly installed in the CN2.
• CN2 is firmly seated in the communications dock.
• power supply is properly connected to a powered AC outlet.
• charging pins on the communications dock are clean. To clean
the charging pins, rub them with a pencil eraser and remove
any eraser debris.
