ELECTROMAGNETIC INTERFERENCE
EMI WARNIN S
CAUTION: IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU READ THIS
INFORMATION REGARDING THE POSSIBLE EFFECTS OF
ELECTROMAGNETIC INTERFERENCE ON YOUR POWERED
SCOOTER.
ELECTROMAGNETIC INTERFERENCE (EMI) FROM RADIO WAVE
SOURCES
Powered s ooters may be sus eptible to ele tromagneti interferen e
(EMI), whi h is interfering ele tromagneti energy (EM) emitted from
sour es su h as radio stations, TV stations, amateur radio (HAM)
transmitters, two way radios, and ellular phones. The interferen e (from
radio wave sour es) an ause the powered s ooter to release its brakes,
move by itself, or move in unintended dire tions. It an also permanently
damage the powered s ooter's ontrol system. The intensity of the
interfering EM energy an be measured in volts per meter (V/m). Ea h
powered s ooter an resist EMI up to a ertain intensity. This is alled its
"immunity level". The higher the immunity level, the greater the
prote tion. At this time, urrent te hnology is apable of a hieving at least
a 20 V/m immunity level, whi h would provide useful prote tion from the
more ommon sour es of radiated EMI.
There are a number of sour es of relatively intense ele tromagneti fields
in the everyday environment. Some of these sour es are obvious and easy
to avoid. Others are not apparent and exposure is unavoidable. However,
we believe that by following the warnings listed, your risk to EMI will be
minimized.
The sour es of radiated EMI an be broadly lassified into three types:
1) Hand-held Portable trans eivers (transmitters-re eivers) with the
antenna mounted dire tly on the transmitting unit. Examples in lude:
itizens band (CB) radios, "walkie talkie," se urity, fire, and poli e
trans eivers, ellular telephones, and other personal ommuni ation
devi es. NOTE: Some cellular telephones and similar devices transmit signals while
they are ON, even when not being used;
2) Medium-range mobile trans eivers, su h as those used in poli e ars,
fire tru ks, ambulan es, and taxis. These usually have the antenna
mounted on the outside of the vehi le; and
3) Long-range transmitters and trans eivers, su h as ommer ial
broad ast transmitters (radio and TV broad ast antenna towers) and
amateur (HAM) radios.
NOTE: Other types of hand-held devices, such as cordless phones, laptop computers, M/FM
radios, TV sets, CD players, cassette players, and small appliances, such as electric shavers and
hair dryers, so far as we know, are not likely to cause EMI problems to your powered scooter.
WEIGHT LIMITATION
WARNIN
The weight limitation for the Inva are Buzz is 300 lbs.
If so equipped, the front basket is rated for a maximum loading apa ity of
10 lbs.
