SAFETY SUMMARY
The following recommendations are made for the safe installation of the Infinity Seat:
GENERAL WARNINGS
DO NOT install this equipment without first reading and understanding this
instruction sheet. If you are unable to understand the Warnings, Cautions and
Instructions, contact a healthcare professional, dealer or technical personnel if
applicable before attempting to install this equipment otherwise, injury or
damage may occur.
Skin condition should be checked very frequently after the installation of any
new seat.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
The best way to avoid problems related to pressure sores is to understand their causes and
your role in a skin management program.
Your therapist and physician should be consulted if you have questions regarding individual
limitations and needs.
All seats should be selected carefully. orking with your therapist, and physician is the best
way to assure that a seat choice matches your individual needs.
As the needs of the individual become more complex, the seat evaluation becomes more important.
INTRODUCTION
INFINITY SEAT
The Infinity seat (seat) is designed to provide pelvic stability, leg positioning and pressure
management and is available in three (3) different base seats to suit the amount of positioning
required by the user.
OUTER/INNER COVERS
The outer cover is made from a water repellant fabric to protect the foam. The top and sides
are fabricated with a patented waterproof stretch fabric. The bottom is fabricated from a
heavyweight, waterproof, non-skid fabric.
An inner water repellant cover is also provided for additional protection for the foam. Regular
cleaning and inspection of the inner and outer covers is recommended. Refer to CLEANING/
INSPECTION in this instruction sheet.

ATTACHING/REMOVING SEAT TO/FROM SEATING
SURFACE (FIGURE 1)
NOTE: To remove the seat from a seating surface, reverse the following procedures.
NOTE: The seat attaches to the seating surface using the hook and loop fasteners on the bottom of the seat cover.
NOTE: The seating surface can be one (1) of the following: Seat upholstery, drop base or seat pan.
NOTE: The zipper on the seat should always face rearward.
WARNING
Make sure the hook and loop fasteners are securely attached to the seating
surface and to the seat BEFORE using. If the seat is not secured to the seating
surface, use caution when transferring in and out of the wheelchair.
1. Determine whether seating surface has the one (1) of the following and refer to one (1) of
the following procedures:
A. Hook attachment strips.
B. Loop attachment strips.
C. No attachment strips.
HOOK ATTACHMENT STRIPS/NO ATTACHMENT STRIPS
1. Remove double sided hook from bottom of seat.
2. Align front edge of seat with front edge of seating surface.
3. Perform one (1) of the following:
HOOK ATTACHMENT STRIPS - Secure the seat to the seating surface, making sure that the strips
of loop on the seat cover are securely attached to the strips of hook on the seating surface.
NO ATTACHMENT STRIPS - Place the seat on the seating surface.
LOOP ATTACHMENT STRIPS
1. Verify the double sided hook strips are securely attached to the loop attachment strips on
the bottom of the seat.
2. Align front edge of seat with front edge of seating surface.
3. Secure the seat to the seating surface, making sure that the double sided hook is securely
attached to the strips of loop on the seat cover and the seating surface.

INSTALLING OUTER COVER (FIGURE 2)
1. Position the seat (inside inner cover) with the pelvic support layer towards the rear of the
new/existing outer cover.
NOTE: The zipper is at the rear of the cover.
2. Slide seat (inside inner cover) into new/existing outer cover.
3. Zip the new/existing outer cover closed.
4. Reattach seat onto seating surface. Refer to ATTACHING/REMOVING SEAT TO/FROM
SEATING SURFACE in this instruction sheet.
REMOVING INNER COVER (FIGURE 3)
1. Remove the seat from the outer cover. Refer to REMOVING/INSTALLING SEAT COV-
ERS in this instruction sheet.
2. Unzip the existing inner cover.
3. Remove the seat from the existing inner cover.
INSTALLING INNER COVER (FIGURE 3)
1. Position the seat with the pelvic support layer towards the rear of the new/existing inner
cover.
NOTE: The back surface of the seat is marked REAR. The zipper is at the rear of the cover.
2. Slide the seat into the new/existing inner cover.
3. Zip the new/existing inner cover closed.
REMOVING/INSTALLING SEAT COVERS
WARNING
The covers are designed to protect the foam from moisture and to provide fire
retardency. DO NOT use the seat without either the inner or outer cover. If
the covers are torn, they must be replaced immediately.
REMOVING OUTER COVER (FIGURE 2)
1. Remove the seat from the seating surface. Refer to ATTACHING/REMOVING SEAT TO/
FROM SEATING SURFACE in this instruction sheet.
2. Unzip the existing outer cover.
3. Remove seat (still inside inner cover) from existing outer cover.

OPTIONAL REMOVABLE LEG WEDGES (FIGURE 4)
NOTE: This procedure provides 1-inch of leg drop for foot propelling or accommodations of hip flexion limitations.
1. Remove the seat from the inner and outer covers. Refer to REMOVING/INSTALLING
SEAT COVERS in this instruction sheet.
2. Remove the front leg wedge from the side of the seat that requires a lower seat to floor
height. Save the leg wedge for future use.
NOTE: Leg wedges secure in place with hook and loop strips.
3. Reinstall the seat into the inner and outer covers. Refer to REMOVING/INSTALLING
SEAT COVERS in this instruction sheet.

NOTE: The seat comes with either a Viscoelastic Foam or a FloGel pelvic support layer.
REMOVING THE PELVIC SUPPORT LAYER
1. Remove seat from inner and outer covers. Refer to REMOVING/INSTALLING SEAT
COVERS in this instruction sheet.
2. Lift UP on EXISTING pelvic support layer and remove from the seat.
4. Reinstall the seat (inside inner cover) into the outer cover. Refer to REMOVING/INSTALL-
ING SEAT COVERS in this instruction sheet.

INSTALLING THE PELVIC SUPPORT LAYER
1. Match loop strips on the bottom of the NE /EXISTING pelvic support layer with the
hook strips in the seat recess and press down.
2. If necessary, adjust the pelvic obliquity of the pelvic support layer. Refer to PELVIC OBLIQ-
UITY ADJUSTMENT in this instruction sheet.
3. Reinstall seat into inner and outer covers. Refer to REMOVING/INSTALLING SEAT
COVERS in this instruction sheet.
PELVIC OBLIQUITY ADJUSTMENT (FIGURE 6)
The pelvic obliquity adjustment can be made all at one time if the user can tolerate the posi-
tioning change or can be gently changed over time. This adjustment can be made in infinite
increments, however, the maximum amount of pelvic obliquity is dependent on cushion width
and contour.
1. Remove seat from inner and outer covers. Refer to REMOVING/INSTALLING SEAT
COVERS in this instruction sheet.
2. Remove the pelvic support layer from the bottom seat layer.
NOTE: The pelvic support layer is secured to the bottom seat layer with hook and loop strips.
3. Move the pelvic support layer towards the side that needs to be raised to accommodate
the obliquity.
NOTE: There is a centerline on the insert and five (5) indicator marks on the seat to use as guidelines:
Neutral, Middle Right, Maximum Right, Middle Left and Maximum Left.
4. Make the following measurements:
A. From the top of the pelvic support layer on the high side to the seat
(MEASUREMENT "A").
B. From the lower side of the pelvic support layer to the seat (MEASUREMENT "B").
5. Subtract MEASUREMENT "B" from MEASUREMENT "A" to calculate amount of obliquity
achieved.
6. Adjust pelvic support layer until desired obliquity is obtained.

7. Press down on the insert to securely refasten the hook and loop strips.
8. Reinstall seat into inner and outer covers. Refer to REMOVING/INSTALLING SEAT
COVERS in this instruction sheet.
9. Reattach the seat onto the seating surface of the wheelchair. Refer to ATTACHING/
REMOVING SEAT TO/FROM SEATING SURFACE in this instruction sheet.

MODIFYING SEAT TO FIT ONTO DROP BASE (FIGURE )
NOTE: This procedure is re uired only if the seat does not sit flush on the drop base.
1. Remove seat from inner and outer covers. Refer to REMOVING/INSTALLING SEAT
COVERS in this instruction sheet.
2. ithout the inner or outer covers, place the seat on the drop base at the desired position.
3. Mark the points where the seat side wedges hit the drop base.
NOTE: Each point should be no more than 1-1/2-inches wide as shown in FIGURE 7.
4. Remove the seat from the drop base.
5. Notch the seat side wedges at the points determined in STEP 3.
6. Place the seat on the drop base at the desired position.

SEAT INSPECTION AND CLEANING
INSPECTION
WARNING
DO NOT continue to use this product if any of the following problems as
described are discovered. Corrective maintenance can be performed at or
arranged through your equipment supplier.
1. Once a week, visually inspect all parts, including hardware, upholstery materials, foams
(if accessible), and plastics for deformation, corrosion, breakage, wear and/or compression.
CLEANING
1. Perform one (1) of the following ONCE A EEK:
Inner Cover.
Hand clean the water repellant inner cover using a soft cloth, warm water and a mild soap
solution. Rinse off and hang dry.
Outer Cover.
CAUTION
MACHINE WASH seat cover in cold water on gentle cycle using a mild deter
gent. DO NOT use fabric softeners or bleach. DO NOT machine dry. Air dry
ONLY. DO NOT dry in sun.
7. If necessary, repeat STEPS 4-6 until the seat sits flush on the drop base.
8. Reinstall seat into inner and outer covers. Refer to REMOVING/INSTALLING SEAT
COVERS in this instruction sheet.
9. Reattach the seat onto the seating surface of the wheelchair. Refer to ATTACHING/
REMOVING SEAT TO/FROM SEATING SURFACE in this instruction sheet.

Invacare Corporation will i ue a return authorization. The defective unit or part mu t be
returned for warranty in pection u ing the erial number, when applicable, a identification within
thirty (30) day of return authorization date. DO NOT return product to our factory without
our prior con ent. C.O.D. hipment will be refu ed; plea e prepay hipping charge .
LIMITATIONS AND EXCLUSIONS: THE WARRANTY SHALL NOT APPLY TO PROBLEMS
ARISING FROM NORMAL WEAR OR FAILURE TO ADHERE TO THE ENCLOSED IN-
STRUCTIONS. IN ADDITION, THE FOREGOING WARRANTY SHALL NOT APPLY TO

THE FOREGOING EXPRESS WARRANTY IS EXCLUSIVE AND IN LIEU OF ANY
OTHER WARRANTIES WHATSOEVER, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUD-
ING THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A

UNITED KINGDOM LIMITED WARRANTY
This warranty is extended only to the original purchaser of our products and does
not affect statutory rights.
Invacare UK / Invacare Service Representative warrants the foam cushion to be
free from defects for a period of two (2) years from the date of purchase. The
cushion cover is warranted for a period of ninety (90) days from date of purchase.
With regard to the original puchaser/user only, Invacare UK /Invacare Service Rep-
resentative warrants its metal fabricated hardware components to be free from
defects in materials and workmanship for the lifetime of the product except any
wood, foam plastic or upholstered components. If within such warranty period the
product shall be proven to Invacare UK’s / Invacare Service Representative rea-
sonable satisfaction to be defective, it shall be repaired or replaced, at Invacare
UK’s / Invacare Service Representative option ; Invacare UK’s / Invacare Service
Representativesoleobligation,andyourexclusiveremedyunderthiswarrantybeing
limited to such repair or replacement.
For warranty service, please contact Invacare UK’s Service Department / Invacare
Service Representative during normal working hours. Upon receiving notice of an
alleged defect in a product, Invacare UK / Invacare Service Representative will
issue a serialized return authorization. The product shall then be returned to either
Invacare plant or service center as specified by Invacare UK / Invacare Service
Representative.Defectivecomponent part(s)mustbe returnedforwarranty inspec-
tion using the serial number as identification within thirty (30) days of return autho-
rization date. DO NOT return products to our factory without prior consent.
LIMITATIONS AND EXCLUSIONS: THE FOREGOING WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER

INTRODUCCIÓN
COJÍN INFINITY
El Cojín Infinity está diseñado para brindar al usuario estabilidad pélvica, buena postura de las
piernas y control de la presión ejercida, y se ofrece en tres (3) cojines básicos distintos para
ajustarse a las necesidades de posición del usuario.
CUBIERTAS EXTERNA/INTERNA
La cubierta externa está fabricada de tela impermeable para proteger la espuma. Las partes
superiores y laterales están hechas de una patentada tela elástica e impermeable. La parte
inferior está hecha de una tela gruesa antideslizante e impermeable.
También se proporciona una cubierta interna impermeable para brindar protección adicional a
la espuma. Limpie y revise regularmente las cubiertas interna y externa. Consulte la sección
INSPECCIÓN Y LIMPIEZA en esta hoja de instrucciones.
