1Introduction
1.1 Product Description
The Doorman™ Electronic Pet Door is a modular based pet door that is compatible with Invisible Fence®
Brand 800 Series, Boundary Plus®Series and Boundary Plus Smart™ Series pet containment systems.
One “Door/Flap” system can be fitted with either a Boundary Plus Doorman module or a Boundary Plus
Smart Doorman module. When fitted with the Boundary Plus Doorman module, the Doorman sets up and
functions the same as the current Doorman. When fitted with the Boundary Plus Smart Doorman module,
the Smart Doorman can be used to complement a Boundary Plus Smart System. The Pet Door assembly
features a removable/replaceable flap (opaque white only) and a serviceable locking mechanism. This
Doorman fits the same cutout as the Invisible Fence®Brand Doorman Pet Door (RAC00-13211).
2Components
2.1 Doorman/Smart Doorman Component Overview
The Doorman System is a module based electronic pet door that utilizes one Doorman Kit (the same
Frame/Flap system) with replaceable Doorman and Smart Doorman electronics modules.
2.1.1 RAC00-17200 BOUNDARY PLUS DOORMAN KIT
Image 1 below shows all parts included in the Boundary Plus Doorman Kit. The kit includes a replaceable
door flap and a serviceable/replaceable locking mechanism. This kit will be used for all installs.

Image 2 below shows all parts included with the Boundary Plus Doorman Module. This SKU should be
selected for an 800/BP Doorman replacement or new install. These are the same electronics that are in the
current Doorman assembly.

3Setup and Operation Instructions
3.1 Electronics Installation
The installation of the electronics module is required for every Doorman assembly. This can be done
before or after the kit is installed in a door or wall.
3.1.1 RAC00-17200 and RAC00-17201 (Basic Doorman)
Unpackage the Boundary Plus®Doorman Kit and the Boundary Plus Doorman Module.
1. Insert the PIR sensor plug into the opening and secure with the two screws enclosed.
2. Snap the bottom two lugs of the Module into the bottom two catches on the Doorman Kit frame.
Ensure the Locking Mechanism wire harness is fed under the module.
3. Remove the two-bottom Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) mounting screws and connect
the loop wire to the PCBA with the mounting screws.
NOTE: The Doorman will not work if the loop wire is not connected.
IMPORTANT: DO NOT short ring terminal/s to other components on circuit board.
4. Connect the Locking Mechanism wire harness to the PCBA.
5. Rotate the module up and snap the top two lugs into the top two catches of the frame.

3.1.2 RAC00-17200 and RAC00-17202 (Smart Doorman)
Unpackage the Boundary Plus®Doorman Kit and the Boundary Plus Doorman Module.
1. Snap the bottom two lugs of the Module into the bottom two catches on the Doorman Kit frame.
Ensure the Locking Mechanism wire harness is fed under the module.
2. Mount the printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) with the seven included mounting screws
connecting the loop wire as shown.
a. Install the loop wire between the PCBA and the screws.
NOTE: The Doorman will not work if the loop wire is not connected.
IMPORTANT: DO NOT short ring terminal/s to other components on circuit board.
3. Connect the Locking Mechanism wire harness to the PCBA.
4. Connect the ribbon cable to the PCBA. Ensure all pins are in socket.
5. Rotate the module up and snap the top two lugs into the top two catches of the frame.

3.2 Doorman™Electronic Pet Doors Set Up
The Boundary Plus Doorman and Smart Doorman Electronic Pet Door should be set up and tested with a
Computer Collar®receiver in the location the door will be used prior to installation. Testing the door
operation at the installation location, inside and out, will ensure fewer opportunities of issues occurring.
3.2.1 Boundary Plus Doorman Electronic Pet Door Setup
Setup for the Boundary Plus Doorman Electronic Pet Door is the same as for the Doorman Electronic Pet
Door. Refer to the Doorman 101 Training in Blue for setup instructions.

3.2.2 Boundary Plus Smart™Doorman Electronic Pet Door Setup
Setup for the Boundary Plus Smart™Doorman Electronic Pet Door is similar to any other device of the
Smart System. Follow the instructions below to set up the Smart Doorman to work in a system with a
Smart Computer Collar®receiver.
NOTE: The Smart System will always be under development. The steps and images below may no longer
be an exact representation of the current design.
3.2.2.1 Firmware Update
The Smart Doorman Electronic Pet Door may require a firmware update to the Host MCU and the
Transmitter MCU. When OTA (Over the Air) updates are available, this process will no longer be
necessary.
1. Download and install the latest Firmware Updater from Blue (Boundary Plus Smart™Firmware
Updater v0.0.0.25).
2. Download the latest Host and Transmitter firmware from Blue
(21XXXX_BP2_DoormanHost_v1_XXX.fcf and
21XXXX_BP2_Doorman_Transmitter_v1_XXX.fcf)
3. Connect large Program Tool, RIF00-16436 or RAC00-17054, to computer and Doorman, open the
Firmware Updater and update the Host and Transmitter firmware.

3.2.2.2 Add the Smart Doorman to a System
Follow the steps below to Add a Smart Doorman to a System.
1. Open the latest Technician App

3.2.2.3 Set Up Computer Collar®receiver to Operate with Doorman
Follow the steps below to set up a Computer Collar to work with a Smart Doorman. Image 10
1. Return to the Technician App main page
i. Search Customer again (this brings any new information into the App) (1)
ii. Select Customer (2)
2. Place Small Program Tool in the Receiver
3. Close the Connected device popup (3)
4. Select Pets (4)
5. Select the Pet you want to change (5)
6. Select Interaction Profile (6)
7. Select the Doorman dropdown (7)
8. Turn ON “Open on Approach” (8)
i. Correction, similar to Shields®units, can be selected here to keep a pet from
entering or exiting the door (Not supported in Tech App version shown)

4Installation
4.1 Test Operation
Prior to any Doorman installation, test the operation of the Doorman inside and outside of where the door
will be installed. Testing the door operation at the installation location, inside and out, will ensure fewer
opportunities of issues occurring once the door is installed.
1. Ensure the Doorman and the Computer Collar®units are programmed to work with each other.
2. Place the Doorman against the inside of the door it will be installed in as shown below.
3. Test the activation of the Doorman to ensure range is acceptable for the area.
NOTE: Metal objects in the area, including rebar in concrete, can affect range. Ensure as many electrical
and electronic appliances are operating at the time of testing.
4. Move the Doorman to the outside of the door and repeat testing.

4.2 Installation
There are many ways to complete an install. This section will quickly display all the parts and pieces of
the Doorman to complete a simple in door installation using the aluminum template and router method.
The video for installing a Doorman Electronic Pet Door using the aluminum template and router is located
on Blue. Click the link below for the location in Blue. You must be logged into Blue first.
Doorman Information
The Doorman can also be installed using the supplied paper template or custom wood template and
jigsaw, Sawzall or circular saw. These instructions are on the paper template. The wood template below
was created using the aluminum template and router.

4.2.1 Preparation
It is important to have everything required available and ready to begin the installation.
•Doorman™ Template and 4 Locator Pins
•Plunge Router with ½” Router Bushing and ¼” Router Bit
•Marker
•Torpedo Level
•Hammer
•Pin Punch or Large Nail (20d - 50d)
•Pliers (Slip-Joint, Channellock, Vise-Grip)
•Measuring Tape
•(2) Sawhorses
•(3) Clamps (C, Slide or Vise-Grip) and (3) Blocks
4.2.1.1 Update Template
The aluminum template does not have a mark for the pet’s shoulder height. This may not be necessary but
can be helpful. Mark 4.125” down from the inside top edge. This mark should be scribed into the
aluminum since marker will wear away over time.

4.2.2 Measure the Pet
Measure the pet from the floor to the top of the shoulders. For multiple pet households, the door should be
mounted for the tallest pet. It is easier for a pet to hop over a door that is mounted higher than it is for pet
to bend its back under a low mounted door. Door height will only need to be adjusted for pets with a
shoulder height greater than 24.5 inches.

4.2.3 Preparing and Cutting the Door
Now that everything is ready, it is time to cut the door.
1. With the door still on the hinges:
a. Determine where the Doorman will go. A door should not be cut any closer than 3 inches
from the edge. To make this easy, the template material is 3 inches wide. Ensure the main
area of the template does not overhang the door. The Doorman should only be placed off
center to the hinge side of the door.
b. Mark where the cutout will be with a marker. This will help avoid cutting a hole in the top
of the door.
c. Mark pet shoulder height on the door for pets with shoulder heights over 24.5 inches.

d. Check to make sure the door is plumb. A door that is not plumb may cause the Doorman to
look unlevel or to perform poorly.

2. Remove the door from the hinges using a hammer, punch/nail and pliers.

3. Place the door on the sawhorses and align the template to the shoulder height of the pet that is
greater than 24.5 inches, otherwise, align the template with the bottom edge of the door.

4. Secure the template to the door with the three clamps. Use wood or metal blocks on the bottom
side of door to spread the clamping load and not damage the door.

5. Ensure the ½” router bushing is on the router and the depth stop is set to allow the ¼” router bit to
pass through the entire door.

7. Raise the depth stop to cut half the door thickness. Lock the slide in place.
NOTE: The bit will wear mostly at the point it cuts the door skin. Especially when cutting metal doors.
Adjusting the cut depth from door to door will extend the life of the bit.

8. Place the router bit into one of the four corner holes and flat to the template. Turn the router ON
holding the router to the edge of the template. Router speed should be ¾ to full speed. Slowly
begin to move the router clockwise around the template. When complete, make a second pass to
clean up any edges.
NOTE: Moving the router counterclockwise around the template will cause the router bit to drift
away from the template. Moving too fast or an incorrect router RPM may cause bits to break.

9. Remove the clamps and template from the door and flip the door over. Center the sawhorse across
the cut area. This will keep the center cutout from dropping out of the door when the cut is nearing
completion. Place the four locator pins in each of the four corner holes and align the template over
the pins. Clamp the template in place using the metal or wood blocks to protect the underside of
the door. Remove the locator pins.

10. Place the router bit into one of the four corner holes and flat to the template. Turn the router ON
holding the router to the edge of the template. Router speed should be ¾ to full speed. Slowly
begin to move the router clockwise around the template. When complete, make a second pass to
clean up any edges. Remove cutout.

11. The door can be placed back on the hinges.

4.2.4 Mounting the Kit in a Door
Unpackage the Doorman Kit. Install the preferred electronics before or after mounting the Doorman. Cut
the door in any method currently used for Doorman and rehang the door if it was removed to cut the hole.
1. The door kit can be mounted with the flap in or out. It is easier to hold pieces together when the
flap is removed. To remove the flap, use a flathead screwdriver or similar tool to slide the spring-
loaded hinge pins toward the center of the flap.

2. Place the kit in in the cutout. The kit can be temporarily held in place by placing two or more of
the #6-18 x 1” screws through the temporary mounting holes and screwing to the door. Pilot holes
may need to be drilled first. Using only the center top and bottom holes allows you to move the kit
to level it.

3. Level the kit and tighten the temporary mounting screws.

4. Install the Exterior Frame. Hold Exterior Frame, with the weep notch at the bottom, to exterior
side of door and use the six #6-18 x 2” to secure the kit to the door. DO NOT over tighten the six
screws, especially the center two.

5. Place electronics in the kit if not already there. Refer to Section 3.
6. Install the Interior Frame. Align the three Interior Frame hooks with the three slots in the bottom
of the kit, slide up and press the frame toward the door to allow it to snap into position. There are
two snap at the top of the frame and one snap to either side.
