Retro-re lective sensors
nstallation and environment
Coatings on the optics and on the re lector impair the unction. The installation should there ore be carried
out in such a way that as little dust as possible is deposited and no liquid can get onto them during operation.
It must also be ensured that they are accessible or cleaning.
From time to time, the optics and re lector should be cleaned with a so t cloth moistened with alcohol or
soapy water.
Cable
The PVC connection cable o the pre-wired cable devices is not suitable or environments containing oil or
solvents and in applications where the cable is requently moved.
In such cases, the use o a plug device with an ip -Sensor lex cable socket is recommended.
nstallation and alignment
1. Mount the re lector in the desired position.
2. Cover the re lector, e.g. with adhesive tape, so that only the center (about 25% o the sur ace) remains
ree.
3. Then align the device on the re lector and asten it. Make sure that the re lector is perpendicular to the
line connecting it to the device. For optical reasons, keep a minimum distance o approx. 20cm rom the
re lector!
4. I the light beam is interrupted, the device must now switch sa ely.
5. Remove the adhesive tape rom the re lector.
Setting
The built-in potentiometer can be used to change the sensitivity and thus the range (distance between the
Retro-re lective sensors and the re lector). On delivery, the device is set to the maximum value. Turning it
counter-clockwise reduces the range. The ull setting range o the potentiometer is 12 revolutions.
I the light beam is interrupted, the switching output switches o (light switching, black core) and the yellow
switching state LED goes out.
Sa e operation is ensured when both the green unction LED and the yellow switching state LED light up when
the light path is ree and both LEDs go out when the object is recognized.
I the green LED does not light up when the light path is clear, either the sensitivity is set too low, the distance
to the re lector is too great, or the optics or re lector are dirty.
