The Juniper® AP41 High Performance Access Point is a Wi-Fi 5 indoor access point (AP) that leverages
the Mist AI to collect and analyze real-me data from wireless clients. Mist uses this data to idenfy a
network problem and its root cause and also provide proacve recommendaons for resoluon.
The AP41 has three IEEE 802.11ac radios, which deliver up to 4x4 mulple input, mulple output
(MIMO) with four spaal streams. Out of the three radios, one is dedicated for scanning. The AP uses
this radio for radio resource management (RRM) and wireless security. The AP41 can operate in either
mul-user or single-user mode. The AP41 is backward compable with the 802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g,
and 802.11n wireless standards.
The AP41 has integrated IoT sensors and an interface port to control analog or digital devices. This
capability is useful in advanced locaon-based use cases, such as door locking and camera control.
The AP41 also has a 16-element virtual Bluetooth Low Energy (vBLE) antenna array to support asset
visibility use cases. The AP41 provides real-me network insights and asset locaon services without
the need for baery-powered BLE beacons and manual calibraon.
The AP41 provides maximum data rates of 1730 Mbps in the 5-GHz band and 800 Mbps in the 2.4-GHz
band.

Benets of AP41 Access Points
• Simple and quick deployment—You can deploy the AP with minimal manual intervenon. The AP
automacally connects to the Mist cloud aer it powers on, downloads its conguraon, and
connects to the appropriate network. Automac rmware upgrades ensure that the AP runs the
latest rmware version.
•Proacve troubleshoong—The AI-driven Marvis® Virtual Network Assistant leverages the Mist AI
to idenfy issues proacvely and provide recommendaons to x the issues. Marvis can idenfy
issues such as oine APs and APs with insucient capacies and coverage.
• High locaon accuracy—The internal vBLE antenna provides precise locaon accuracy within a range
of 1 to 3 meters.

Power Requirements for AP41
The AP41 requires 802.3at (PoE+) power, and it requests a maximum of 25.5W. Ensure to connect an
AP41 or AP41E to an 802.3at or PoE+ switch. The AP41 requests 19.5 W to provide wireless
funconality, without PoE out and USB port support. You can use any of the following opons to power
on an AP41:
• Power over Ethernet Plus (PoE+) from an Ethernet switch
We recommend that you use an Ethernet cable with a maximum length of 100 m to connect the
access point (AP) to the switch port.
If you use an Ethernet cable that is longer than 100 m by placing an Ethernet PoE+ extender in the
path, the AP might power up, but the Ethernet link does not transmit data across such a long cable.
You might see the status LED blink yellow twice. This LED behavior indicates that the AP is unable to
receive data from the switch.

This topic provides the various mounng opons for the AP41. You can mount the AP on a wall, ceiling,
or juncon box. The AP ships with a universal mounng bracket that you can use for all mounng
opons. To mount the AP on a ceiling, you'll need to order an addional adapter based on the type of
ceiling.
NOTE: We recommend that you claim your AP before you mount it. The claim code is located on
the rear of the AP and it may be dicult to access the claim code aer you mount the AP. For
informaon about claiming an AP, see Claim a Juniper Access Point .

NOTE: Juniper Access Points ship with the universal bracket APBR-U. If you need other brackets,
you must order them separately.
Universal Mounng Bracket (APBR-U) for Juniper Access Points
You use the universal mounng bracket APBR-U for all types of mounng opons—for example, on a
wall, a ceiling, or a juncon box. Figure 3 on page 13 shows the APBR-U. You'll need to use the
numbered holes to insert screws when mounng the AP on a juncon box. The numbered holes that
you use vary based on the type of juncon box.

If you're mounng the AP on a wall, use screws with the following specicaons:
• Diameter of the screw head: ¼ in. (6.3 mm)
• Length: At least 2 in. (50.8 mm)

Mount an Access Point on a Single-Gang or 3.5-Inch or 4-Inch Round
Juncon Box
You can mount an access point (AP) on a US single-gang or a 3.5-in. or 4-in. round juncon box by using
the universal mounng bracket (APBR-U) that we ship along with the AP. To mount an AP on a single-
gang juncon box:
1. Aach the mounng bracket to the single-gang juncon box by using two screws. Ensure that you
insert the screws in the holes marked 1 as shown in Figure 4 on page 15.

2. Extend the Ethernet cable through the bracket.
3. Posion the AP such that the shoulder screws on the AP engage with the keyholes of the mounng
bracket. Slide and lock the AP in place.
