INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS fortheNo. 811 DELAYED uncoupler -
read complete instructions before starting.
TheNo. 811 uncoupler is Delayed. Itistobe used with Kadee O scale
couplers.
Permanent magnet
mountsbetween rails
TO MOUNT:
Thisuncouplermust be mountedexactly inthe center ofthe track so first
find the centerbetween the rails and mark it.The uncouplermagnetshould
at no point extendabove the rails by morethan3/64inch. In most
instances all that is necessary for properinstallation isto glue itinthe
center ofthe roadbed.However, ifit doesn't you will have tocutouta
section of ties the exact width and length ofthe magnet. The depth ofthe
section that youcutout should be gauged so when the magnet isin position
it sticks up above the railtop3/64 ofan inch.
The amount you will cutoutofthe ties will depend on which ofthe dif-
ferent code rails, with their various codeheights, you will be using.
Use white glue to anchormetalplate and magnet in roadbed.Remember,
the metalplatemust be placedunder the magnet(not ontopofit)for
properoperation.

When stopping a setof couplersover a magneticuncouplingrampmounted
inor underyourtrack, slack must be caused to occurbetween the joined
couplers and thentheyautomaticallytend tobe drawn to openposition by
magnetic forceacting on these trip pins, seeNo.1.You then pull away
(withonly the cars between engine and rampthat are stillcoupled) until
couplers part. At this point magneticforce will draw each coupler off
center to opposite sides, seeNo.2, (couplers will hold thisposition as long
as they are overmagnet)when you back in again bringingcouplerstogether
again (over magnet)they will not recouple but will mismate in "delayed"
position, seeNo.3.Youcanset couplers onone car, ora string of cars in
"delayed" position for spotting at several points beyond the uncoupler,
thus cutting down onthe number of ramps required. You thenpushcar, or
cars to position on layout desired for spotting. Astwo couplers in "delayed"
position are parted,they will snap back to normalcenterposition,ready
to recouple,when you comeback to pick up car, seeNo.4.Youcansee
"delayed" uncoupling has unlimitedpossibilities for realisticoperation of
yourrailroad - even betterthan prototype because Kadee couplerswork
