1. INTRODUCTION
The Lely Hibiscus 725 CD Classic is a twin rotor rake to rake grass.
The Lely Hibiscus 725 CD Classic has two rotors with 10 tine arms, each with
four double tines.
The tines provide a clean sweep and move the grass to the center in a fluffy
swath.
The Lely Hibiscus 725 CD Classic has:
• Two rotors
• A hydraulic system
• A tandem wheel assembly
• A trailer
Various optional extras are also available. Refer to Optional Extras Lely
Hibiscus 725 CD Classic (page 1-2).

1.1 Hydraulic System
The hydraulic system is controlled by an operating cord to move the Lely
Hibiscus 725 CD Classic from transport position to the working position.
The optional ground pressure relief system transfers part of the weight of the
rotors to the carriage to minimize any damage to the crop.
1.2 Tandem-axle Wheel
The tandem wheel assembly has four wheels and makes sure that quality
raking is achieved even in undulating fields.
1.3 Trailer
The trailer has a steering device to make the Lely Hibiscus more
maneuverable.
1.4 Optional Extras Lely Hibiscus 725 CD Classic
1.4.1 Spare Wheel Support
A spare wheel support is installed on the Hibiscus to carry a spare wheel.

2. SAFETY
This chapter contains safety instructions you must obey when you use or do
maintenance on your Lely Hibiscus. It also explains the safety decals on the
Lely Hibiscus.
2.1 Signal Words
Note the use of the signal words DANGER, WARNING and CAUTION. The
signal word for each message uses the following guidelines:
Danger: Indicates an imminently hazardous situation that, if
not avoided, will result in death or serious injury.
Warning: Indicates a potentially hazardous situation that, if not avoided,
could result in death, serious injury or product damage, and includes
hazards that are exposed when guards are removed.
Caution: Indicates a potentially hazardous situation that, if not avoided, may
result in minor or moderate injury or damage to the product or property.
Note: This shows extra information that may help the reader.
2.2 Safety Instructions
• Use the Hibiscus only for the purpose for which it was designed.
• Follow all safety regulations, including those in this manual and instructions
or warnings on the machine.
• Operate the Hibiscus safely.
• The Hibiscus must only be operated by authorised persons.
• Be alert and observe all safety precautions.
• Make sure all safety guards and protection devices are installed and
function correctly.
• Keep people and objects away from moving parts.
• Stop the tractor engine, the Power Take-Off (PTO) and all moving parts
before you do maintenance on the Hibiscus.
• Make sure no people are in the danger zone when the Hibiscus is in
operation. This is especially important when you work near or on areas that
are accessible to the public.
• Always use a tractor with a cab.
• Make sure there are no objects in the field that could be thrown up by the
Hibiscus before you operate the Hibiscus.

• Depressurise the hydraulic system before you connect or disconnect
hydraulic hoses.
•Use protective clothing, gloves, safety glasses and ear protectors, if
necessary.
• Clean or replace the safety decals regularly so that they can be read at all
times.
2.3 Explanation of the Safety Decals on the Lely Hibiscus 725 CD
Classic
Read the operator's manual carefully before you
operate the Hibiscus
Keep away from all turning parts unless they are
locked and cannot move.
Keep away from the folding area of the rotors.
Keep away from all moving parts unless they are
locked and cannot move.
Read the operating instructions for the PTO
shaft. Always use the correct safety precautions
and protection when you operate the PTO shaft.

3. OPERATION
3.1 Connect the Hibiscus to the Tractor
1. Adjust the 3-point hitch on the tractor until the arms are at the same
height.
2. Connect the two lower arms of the 3-point hitch to the linkage pins on
the headstock.
3. Use the tractor hydraulics system to lift the headstock until it is level.
4. Extend the parking jacks to the highest position.
5. Connect the stabilization chains (or rods) from the tractor to the lower
arms of the Hibiscus.
6. Make sure no lateral movement is possible.
7. Remove the wheel wedges and attach them to the support at the rear
of the Hibiscus.
The first time you connect the Hibiscus to each tractor, refer to the instructions
supplied with the PTO shaft and make sure the minimum and maximum
overlap of the two parts of the PTO shaft is correct.
Always connect the safety chain of the PTO shaft to a rigid part of the
tractor.
8. Make sure the Hibiscus PTO shaft telescopes smoothly.
9. Connect the Hibiscus PTO shaft to the tractor PTO shaft.
The maximum pressure of the tractor hydraulic system must not be more
than 21.0 MPa (210 bar).
10. Remove the dust caps from the two hydraulic hoses.
11. Connect the two hydraulic hoses to the double-acting hydraulic valve on
the tractor.
12. Put the end of the ram-lock operating cord in the tractor cab.
13. Connect the lighting electrical cable to the correct socket on the tractor.
14. Make sure all the lights on the Hibiscus operate correctly.

3.3 Move the Hibiscus to the Transport Position
Make sure there are no persons in the area when you move the Hibiscus
to the transport position.
Make sure the front axle weight of the tractor is sufficient (use front
weights if necessary) and that you do not exceed the rear axle weight
when the Hibiscus is in the transport position.
Make sure the PTO shaft does not turn when the Hibiscus is in the
transport position.
Use all lights and warning signals as defined by your local road traffic
regulations.
1. Disengage the PTO.
2. Wait for all moving parts of the Hibiscus to stop.
3. Pull the operating cord to release the locking hooks on the hydraulic ram.
4. Operate the tractor hydraulic system to retract the hydraulic ram until
the Hibiscus is in the transport position.
5. Make sure the locking hooks have engaged in the hydraulic rams.

3.5 Start Raking
Always switch off the tractor engine before you leave the tractor cab.
Make sure no persons are within a 25 meter radius of the Hibiscus during
operation.
Make sure no persons are near the Hibiscus when you engage the PTO.
Do not operate the Hibiscus without safety guards or swath curtain, or if
the safety guards or swath curtain are damaged.
Make sure no obstacles can be hit.
1. Operate the hydraulic system to lift the Hibiscus until the rakes are just
above the crop.
2. Carefully engage the PTO at the lowest possible engine speed.
3. Slowly increase the speed of the PTO to 400-450 rpm (max. 540 rpm).
Do not drive the machine through the crop when the rotor is on the
ground and not rotating. This causes damage to the tines and tine arms.
4. Drive the tractor at a maximum speed of 12.5 km/h.
5. Operate the tractor 3-point hitch to lower the Hibiscus to the correct
height in the crop.
6. If you want to turn on headlands:
• Operate the tractor 3-point hitch to lift the Hibiscus.
7. If smaller swaths are required:
• Do not use the full working width of the Hibiscus.
8. If fuller swaths are required:
• Make double or multiple swaths.
